IRON BOOTS "Complete Discography" LP Now up for PREORDER!

PREORDER: IRON BOOTS "Complete Discography" LP

Release Date: October 6, 2015

Preorder the IRON BOOTS Complete Discography LP from Grave Mistake HERE
Stream / Download the full release from the Grave Mistake Records Bandcamp HERE

Finally!!! With this project in the works for well over a year, Grave Mistake Records and Triple B Records could not be more thrilled to present you with the twenty track Complete Discography LP from Virginia's IRON BOOTS. The LP (available on limited color vinyl) along with several Iron Boots T-shirt reprints, is now available for Preorder through the labels' respective webstores, and will begin shipping in early October!
Compiling all of the band's output during their brief existance, this collection contains all of the material from their 2004 Demo, Weight of the World 7", Easy Green 7", and tracks from the Generations: A Hardcore Compilation on Revelation Records.

All of the audio has been remastered by the wonderful Daniel Husayn at North London Bomb Factory, and features killer packaging which includes brand new cover art done by the one and only Spoiler, a printed inner sleeve featuring some additional reprinted original Iron Boots artwork, and a huge 24x24" double sided Poster lyric sheet! We also pressed up two limited vinyl colors - Blue Vinyl (out of 170) and Orange Vinyl (out of 225). The vinyl comes with a Download featuring a digitally remastered version of the collection as well.
In addition to the vinyl reissue, we also reprinted two Iron Boots shirt designs, one featuring an early shirt design done by Spoiler (also used on later pressings of their Demo 7"), and a killer pocket print double-sided t-shirt as well.

The digital remaster is also available on each of the labels' respective Bandcamp Pages for a $6 Download (streaming in full as well).

For the uninitiated, IRON BOOTS hailed from in Virginia Beach, VA and were most active from 2004-2006 before playing their final show in Richmond in 2008.  With their hi-impact, fuck-your-attitude delivery and NYHC influenced songwriting (open your eyes, they sounded exactly like WARZONE, and wore that label proudly), the Boots were one of few contemporary hardcore bands that were able to take influence from classic hardcore punk and successfully make it their own.  Along with bands like Down to Nothing, Bracewar, Victim and Wasted Time, Iron Boots were the crew that was key in solidifying Richmond / Virginia Beach as a relevant and vital Hardcore scene during the mid-00's.  In their short career, Iron Boots managed to churn out an impressive catalog - an eight song demo, two 7" EPs, and two tracks for a Revelation Records compilation - all of which are featured on this release.  Always remembering to keep the faith, Iron Boots took pride in maintaining a classic "If it ain't broke don't fix it" approach to hardcore in both songwriting and aesthetic.  The end result being, as proven on this reissue, a timeless recorded and visual output that still maintains a fresh and vital feel more than a decade later.

IRON BOOTS Complete Discography LP will be out officially on October 6th, and preorders will begin shipping that week as well!

A quick webstore update for you before you enjoy your weekend! All Grave Mistake 7" releases are on sale for the next week! Not to mention, I've marked down over 200 7" titles in the webstore. Usually I save this sort of thing for the fun "holiday" that is Black Friday, but this year I decided to get a head start on cleaning house.
So, earlier this week I decided to run this pretty sweet Grave Mistake 7" sale, and you can check that out HERE. Yup, every single Grave Mistake 7" release we have in stock is on sale in some form or another. Newer releases are $1.00 off, older releases are marked down even more (some over half off)!!! The sale on Grave Mistake titles will only run until next Friday (9/18/05) so take advantage while you can!
In addition to that, I've also marked down 200 additional distro 7"s! You can check out those titles HERE in the webstore, or if you wanted to do a quick scan I've made a convenient clickable link list HERE. Great for people looking to check out some new bands or pick up some records on the cheap.  If you want to make the most of your bargain hunting, don't forget about the preexisting clearance / markdown section in the store as well, which you can find HERE. Over 500 7"s, LPs, CDs and Tapes for some really nice prices!
NIGHT BIRDS Sale and Test Press Contest
NIGHT BIRDS' new LP is right around the corner, so we decided to do something fun here at GMHQ to get you stoked on it! All Night Birds releases on Grave Mistake are on sale for the next month, and if you pick up a release you will be elidgible to win a Test Pressing of their Born to Die in Suburbia LP.  Check out the post HERE to get the full scoop!
Mutiny at Muscle Beach will be out October 2nd on Fat Wreck! We are stoked and you should be too ...
Finally, a few more new bangers in the webstore, as well as a recap of some hits from last week that you still might need to pick up.  New for this week, finally scored copies of the ROYAL HEADACHE High LP! An incredible release, this LP is gonna find a spot in my Best of 2015 list for sure! I also grabbed copies of another LP I've been digging a ton, the debut LP from Portland's THE STOPS!  Definitely another recommended new release for you to check out. Also picked up a few copies of the debut 7" from Boston's EXIT ORDER! Featuring members of a few bands you probably already know (Green Beret, Leather Daddy, Chain Rank) - this EP is a strong follow up to their demo that came out a year or so ago. Was lucky enough to catch em in RVA last weekend and they shredded - so definitely give this one a listen!
Restocked the CONCEALED BLADE, AJAX, and EEL 7"s that just came out on Beach Impediment, so do yourself a favor and scoop em all up.  Not to mention, still have a few copies of the new 7"s from DC's PROTESTER and Chicago's EARTH GIRLS (who will have their debut LP out in 2016 on Grave Mistake!). And, in addition to this new stuff, the debut LP from BOSTON STRANGLER, Primitive, is now back in print and the store is stocked up for those of you who weren't lucky enough to grab a copy when it first came out.
Finally, a few new tapes in the mix, like the demo from new Richmond act UGLY and cassette verion of the brand new UTAH JAZZ full length!
That's all for now ... IRON BOOTS Complete Discography LP preorders next week??? Maybe!
Thanks for reading!

New Webstore Titles for 9/11/15:
EXIT ORDER "S/T" 7" (Side Two Records)
Boston ripper Exit Order's debut EP steps away from the non stop hardcore of their demo and shifts into a catchier UK82 meets Welcome to 1984 euro punk style. Featuring members of LEATHER DADDY, GREEN BERET, and CHAIN RANK.

ROYAL HEADACHE "High" LP (What's Your Rupture Records)
Following a period of rest and reflection and a recent performance at Sydney, Australia's Opera House, Royal Headache is ready to ride once more. "High" injects even more soul and passion into the breakneck formula that became synonymous with Royal Headache. If their first album was akin to a courtship, think of "High" as the romance. Not just on the level of two people falling in love, but a romance with the qualities of pop music that make Royal Headache who they are and inform what they do: eternal optimism, wistful beauty and interlocking presentation that evolves from four guys singing on a street corner to speed-addled rock, and all the brightness and darkness in between, teetering between stability and chaos and total awareness of how unsteady their footing might be. The amount of emotion and range of Shogun's vocals and the whip-smart counterpoint provided by the band - drummer Shortty, guitarist Law, and bassist Joe - present a dash through decades of pop history, recombining not just the music but all of the feelings of pain and joy elicited from audiences, supercharged and ready to explode once more.

STOPS, THE "Nameless Faces" LP
 (Dirt Cult Records)
These five women from Portland, OR play dark and melodic punk rock for fans of old school OC punk bands like The Adolescents as well as their hometown predecessors like The Wipers and The Observers. Absolutely essential.
BOSTON STRANGLER "Primitive" LP (Fun With Smack Records)
The debut LP by Boston Hardcore's prodigal sons... All the best bits n' pieces of SS DECONTROL, The F.U.'s, JERRY'S KIDS, DYS, LAST RIGHTS, DEATHWISH, IMPACT UNIT etc, squeezed through a meat grinder, filtered through Springa's coke and cum saturated digestive system, and defecated out into a primo-choco-log of 12" vinyl... NOT FOR THE WEAK! Boston Strangler shares members with Rival Mob, Waste Management, Peacebreakers, No Tolerance, Battle Ruins, Scapegoat and more.

V/A "Still No King" Compilation 7" (Dis-Illusioned Records)
See here, new compilation EP featuring off-beat players of the UK82/raw punk inclinations characteristic of the eastern seaboard. SAVAGEHEADS (Boston, NY) kick things off as they once did on their earliest demo offering, presenting the crud-stomper, 'Detained.' Back to basics, ROTTEN UK here present their finest track to date, 'Siouxsie Sioux:' an ode to the lady with the liner. PRIMITIVE PACT (Brooklyn, NY), nasty outsiders of the New York scene, give us 'Keep Staring' on the flip. A new group from Montreal, SEXFACE here present one of the most interesting tracks of the lot: 'Cult Culture' says it plain. Four songs of filth. Pick your king? Still no king; incidental colonialism.

GREEN DREAMS "Rich Man, Poor Man" 7" (Cherish Records)
"The ‘90s are back! Not the tight rolled-B.U.M. Equipment-Hypercolor bib-overall-jean shorts ‘90s, we’re talking some Docs-shorts over the thermals—fuck it, I might just wear two flannels at one time ‘90s. Grungy, distorted female vocals. Crunchy, chewy, stonerific guitars. This shit takes me back to a bygone era. Four tasty little nuggets from this Rochester, NY three-piece. A real substantial snack." - Razorcake
LOVE CANAL "Enter the Love Canal" Tape (Black Dots Records)
The interbreeding of Buffalo’s underground taken to a logical conclusion. A punishing brand of noiseladen hardcore birthed in the unforgiving desolation of suburban Western New York.

UTAH JAZZ "Ivory Wave" Tape (Black Dots Records)
Years in the making, we're pleased to announce the release of the debut UTAH JAZZ LP, "Ivory Wave." Featuring members of the worldrenowned BROWN SUGAR and regionally legendary MAYDAY, The UTAH JAZZ have been helping reform the dominant sound of the Western NY punk scene with their undefinable brand of dualguitar rock'n'roll wankery for nigh on five years now. A morethansuitable follow up to their previous works on #2 guitarist B. Gaffney's Media Schlitz imprint. F.F.O. HOMOSTUPIDS (... the mutant sounds of Cleveland, Ohio), ZZ TOP and good ol' fashioned American psychedelia.

UGLY Demo Tape (Demo)
From Richmond, Virginia, UGLY is the perfect name for the music they play. Fast demented riffs, shredded throat vocals and rhythms that sound like they can derail at any moment. Their first offering is a four song blast of noxious rage that will leave you feeling ugly and liking it.

Our buds NIGHT BIRDS have a brand new full length, Mutiny at Muscle Beach, coming out October 2nd on Fat Wreck Chords!  You can check out the new track "Blank Eyes" off of that upcoming LP here.
We figured now would be a great time to give you a cool excuse to pick up any of their back catalog you might be missing. For the next month, all Night Birds releases on Grave Mistake Records, Born to Die in Suburbia, The Other Side of Darkness, and Fresh Kills Vol. 1, are on sale in our webstore. This includes: both LP/CD formats, all package bundles for multiple Night Birds releases, and full DLs from the Grave Mistake Bandcamp.
In addition to the sale (and in true Night Birds fashion), we decided to run a fun little contest ... the winner will get a Test Press of their Born to Die in Suburbia LP!
There's not much to this one - all you have to do is pick up one of their LPs or CDs, or DL one of the records off of our Bandcamp, and your name will be entered into a drawing to win the Test Press. If you buy multiple releases, we'll put your name down once for each release you pick up (so essentially, pick up more releases, increase your chances) This contest and sale will run through October 11th, at the end of the contest we'll throw everyone's name in and pick out a winner at random.
All Night Birds orders during this time will come with a bunch of extra stuff. We have a few stacks of stickers and some left over BTDIS posters laying around GMHQ, so we'll throw a few in for ya. We also added some cool new 1" and 2.25" Night Birds pins to the store as well (maybe we'll throw a few free ones in if your order is cool enough).
To coincide with their new LP, Night Birds will be doing a few shows with Dillinger Four in October, as well as a handful of shows going into November, including Not Dead Yet in Toronto and The Fest in Gainesville. Full dates are listed below!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Night Birds Back Catalog TEST PRESS Contest!!!!!

Our buds Night Birds have a brand new full length, Mutiny at Muscle Beach, coming out October 2nd on Fat Wreck Chords!  You can check out the new track "Blank Eyes" off of that upcoming LP here. It's great!

We figured now would be a great time to give you a cool excuse if you still needed to pick up any of their back catalog. So, in true Night Birds fashion, we decided to run a fun little contest ... the winner will get a Test Press of their Born to Die in Suburbia LP!

The loser will be murdered

::insert evil laugh::

It's pretty simple, all you have to do is pick up one of their LPs or CDs (or DL one of em in full from the Grave Mistake Bandcamp) and your name will be entered into a drawing to win the Test Press. If you buy multiple releases then we'll put your name down once for each release you pick up (this includes combos! 3 records = 3 chances!) This contest will run through October 11th, at the end of the contest we'll throw everyone's name in and pick out a winner at random!

If you thought that was cool, it gets even better because all of our Night Birds releases are on SALE too, including all of the package deals!

The Test Press you might win is packaged in an alternate Orange silkscreened cover, hand numbered and limited to 24 copies (this is #12!) Looks pretty sweet if you ask me.

All Night Birds orders will come with a bunch of extra stuff. We've got a bunch of stickers and some left over BTDIS posters laying around GMHQ, so we'll throw a few in for ya! We also added some cool new 1" and 2.25" Night Birds pins to the store as well.

The winner will be notified on October 14th!

The loser will be announced on October 31st.

In your local paper.

In the obituaries section.

::insert evil laugh again::

Happy buying!

p.s just joking on the whole "murder" thing, clearly we wouldn't do that. I mean, seriously, who would want to take part in a contest that might get you murdered?

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Hey all! A really quick update for you but it's stacked with some great new titles so I wanted everyone to know we had em ASAP!

We've got all three new releases from Beach Impediment Records - new AJAX 7", CONCEALED BLADE Demo 7", and new EEL 7"; some new jams courtesy of Triple B Records which include the brand new EP from DC's PROTESTER, debut 12" from Boston's SOME NERVE, and live 7" from So Cal's FURY. Not to mention restocks on the FREEDOM 7", FURY debut 7", SHRAPNEL 7", and DEATH INJECTION LP; grabbed the incredible new EP from Chicago's EARTH GIRLS - if you dug their debut 7" on Grave Mistake last year, you'll love this one as well! Hopefully it will get you excited for their upcoming full length we will be releasing in 2016! Finally, scored an awesome vault reissue from PA's WASTED TALENT - killer early 80's hardcore from PA, featuring members that went on to be in 2000 MANIACS and Richmond's own UNSEEN FORCE!

Some solid restocks as well (in addition to the ones I've already mentioned) - both CRAZY SPIRIT 12"s, the CHEENA 7", first GENERACION SUICIDA LP, both the ANGEL DU$T "A.D" LP and "Xtra Raw" 7", US pressing of the SHEER MAG "II" 7", MONGOLOID 7", and NEGATIVE INSIGHT ZINE with CHAOS UK "Studio Outtakes" 7"!

Alex / Grave Mistake Records
New Webstore Titles for 9/1/15:

AJAX "S/T" 7"
(Beach Impediment Records)
NYC’s finest follow up their demo and 7” on Katorga Works, along with their appearance on the HARDCORE: GIMME SOME MORE compilation, with what could very well be their best material to date! The four tracks on this new recording continue to exhibit the band’s perfected blend of USHC combined with the best of Sweden with harsh vocals barked over TOTALITAR influenced riffing. Saying that this release is essential would be an understatement. Each record comes in a full color glue pocket sleeve adorned with artwork by Shiva Addanki.

CONCEALED BLADE "Demo" 7" (Beach Impediment Records)
Braddock’s CONCEALED BLADE caught many off guard when their Earth shattering demo became available in early 2015 and now Beach Impediment is proud to bring it to the masses on the 7” format. Featuring members of BLOOD PRESSURE, HOUNDS OF HATE, and NO TIME, this recording is a relentless one full of the kind of riffs and vocals that bring late 80’s NYHC to mind while retaining a modern yet tasteful vibe all its own. For fans of hardcore and just simply “not for the fucking weak,” as they say.

EEL "S/T" 7" (Beach Impediment Records)
After a bit of down time since their last record, EEL has emerged from whatever local Pittsburgh landfill they came from with some more sonic blasts of the blown out noise infused hardcore punk pounders that they’ve made themselves known for with their past few releases. This particular slab features three original rippers followed by a DISORDER cover to close it all out. Each record comes in a full color glue pocket sleeve featuring some stunning cover art by Denis Boardman of the legendary UK band DOOM. Also included is a 14”x14” poster with a rather intricate black and white collage done by the band’s own 1984.

EARTH GIRLS "Someone I'd Like to Know" 7" (Dirt Cult Records)
Following a killer self-released demo tape and 7" on Grave Mistake/Drunken Sailor, Earth Girls return with 4 new songs of bubblegum garage rock. Fronted by Liz Panella (Libyans. Broken Prayer, Autonomy, Siamese Twins), this Chicago band is a must hear.

SOME NERVE "Sense of Control" LP (Triple B Records)
Ripping debut LP from this Boston band.

PROTESTER "No Identity" 7" (Triple B Records)
Here we have it, pre-orders for the 2nd 7" from DC's PROTESTER. 6 songs of straight in your face hardcore in the vein of Confront, Brotherhood, and Agnostic Front. But don't take my word for it, listen for yourself.

FURY "Live on KXLU 2015" 7" (Triple B Records)
So the boys in Fury did a live set at KXLU in LA. Limited to 500 7". All on black vinyl, no digital downloads. no repress, just 500 copies and they're gone! Split with Video Disease Records.

WASTED TALENT "Ready to Riot" LP
(Going Underground Records)
Essential hardcore punk band from State College, Pennsylvania. Previously heard on The Master Tape Vol.2 and Chainsaw Fanzines: OHMIGOD HARDCORE demo tape. The music is ripping fast, snotty & raw. Very well put together hardcore that exceeds my expectations for a top notch album, especially being that the music and lyrics are equally as good. You will find yourself chanting these tunes after a few listens. Music was Re Mastered from the Original 1/4" Reels and cassette tapes. Featuring the 'Self Rule' demo tape from 1982, 4-track demo from 1982, Live Sept. 15 1982 @ Walnut Building, Live May 5 1983 @ The Hubb, October 21st 1983 basement rehearsal tape, and December 4th 1983 basement Rehearsal tape, all put on vinyl for the first time!! The Band's early influences were Ramones and the Sex pistols and all 1977 wave of British punk, with time the American Hardcore scene soon began to impact their sound playing with bands like Minor Threat, Scream, Deadline, White Cross, Heart Attack, Crucifix, Fang, Necros, No Trend and many more. Members went on to form bands such as Heart Of Darkness, Oblivion, Positive Hate, Unseen Force, 2000 Maniacs, The Big Thing, and many others!! A must for any fans of early 80's Raw hardcore punk!  Black Vinyl Limited to 400 copies, Includes a large double sided poster, lyric insert and sticker!

Restocks for 9/1/15:

ANGEL DU$T "Xtra Raw" 7"
DEATH INJECTION "Hate for Myself and Everyone Else" LP
FREEDOM "Pay the Price" 7"
FURY "Kingdom Come" 7"
NEGATIVE INSIGHT #2 Zine w/ CHAOS UK "Studio Outtakes" 7"
SHEER MAG "II (US Pressing)" 7"
SHRAPNEL "Frenzied State" 7" (US Version)
