WEBSTORE UPDATE! New STAB, TENEMENT, LONG PIGS, DISCHARGE reissues, MORE!

Greetings! Welcome to the second Grave Mistake webstore update for 2012 ... if things keep up at this pace for the whole year, I don't think I'm going to be sleeping much. Still, I'm excited to be getting so many cool releases for the webstore and hopefully you all feel the same way.  Expect some "real" label news within the next few weeks as well ... I know I've been hinting about what GM has planned for 2012, but I'm going to wait until I have a bit more info for you. You can expect two brand new releases out in February; the debut 7" from SECTARIAN VIOLENCE and the long awaited BAD ADVICE 7" (yes, I mean it this time). Once those hit the streets, I'll fill you in on the rest of my plans for the first half of the year.

As I mentioned in my last update, I am currently running a little special for Grave Mistake releases from 2011; for $11 you get to choose one LP, one 7", and one CD from the GM releases that came out in 2011, pretty good deal if you ask me. This will be running until the end of January so take advantage of it while you can!

Ok, now onto the new webstore stuff...

Finally some new zines (newest issues of ACHTUNG (I've actually had this for a little while but just realized I never put it in the store, oops), MODERN HATE VIBE, and PAINS), and new tapes from RVA's own OBSESSOR and a live tape from HOLY SHIT!. Oh, and let's not forget the restocks - CULO 12", NO TOLERANCE new 7", TENEMENT "NAPALM DREAM",LP a ton of DERANGED restocks (86 MENTALITY 7", WHITE LUNG LP, CULO "Toxic Vision" 7", and more),  restocked all of the EXTORTION releases, classic NYHC reissues from, AGNOSTIC FRONT, ANTIDOTE and URBAN WASTE, and lots more ... check the list below (also, if you notice, I've added links to all of the new items directly to the webstore)!

NEW STUFF 01.18.12

STAB "NATION RISING" 7" (QUALITY CONTROL)
Four diasporic ragers based in London release 6 songs of fast fury at the state of the nation.  After a positive response to the demo released early 2011, STAB continue to look back at 80s UK Hardcore whilst dissecting the now, turning their backs on the current wave of whinging punk prophesying end times to justify inaction and indifference.  Bringing their cultural backgrounds together amidst recent events such as riots, failed protests and the isolationism of their island home, STAB attempts to pierce both soundwaves and minds with this record.  Fans of loud, fast noise take note! Recorded and mixed by James Atkinson (Voorhees, Gentleman's Pistols)

DEATH EVOCATION "S/T" 7" (QUALITY CONTROL)
Sacrilege style jams from some special guests visiting the UK from Boston, USA, explore the mechanisation of society, alienation and rise of the wastelands. Turbulent female vocals cut through some serious chug and a familiar snare sound creating images of a metal army marching against police bastard tyranny, alongside some seriously wank-worthy solos. Slayer and early Trouble influences also play a part, what’s not to like?  Mastered at Abbey Road Studios with artwork by Belgian Stiv and nestled in a 300gsm thick sleeve with outside flaps like all those special NWOBHM records you know and love!

DISCHARGE "REALITIES OF WAR" 7" (HAVOC)
The Classic first 7" from Discharge circa 1980. A monumental record that helped jumpstart the hardcore movement around the world. This is one of a handful of records from 1980 that pushed 70's punk into the bleak era of the 1980's hardcore scene. Discharge set the standard with their raw and uncompromising visual style and unbridled hardcore punk music.

DISCHARGE "DECONTROL" 7" (HAVOC)
Classic three song rager from 1980. Less than a year removed from "realities of war" the sound is already faster and more aggressive, leaving 70's punk behind and blazing into pure hardcore raw punk. This record has three of Discharge's best songs which are just pure blasts of raw anger and urgency. Hardcore punk at it's best.

DISCHARGE "FIGHT BACK" 7" (HAVOC)

Five song blast of pure anger and energy, Dishcarge is at their finest here. Pure be beat raw punk against which all the successors can be measured. This hard driving music is the perfect vehicle for the outrage at war and oppression conveyed by the harsh lyrics and graphics.

DISCHARGE "NEVER AGAIN" 7" (HAVOC)
It's 1981, the cold war rages, threatening to turn hot at any moment as Reagan, Thatcher and Brezhnev seem poised to destroy the world in a descent to nuclear madness. Using cover art appropriated from 1930's anti fascist agit-prop Discharge links the bleak reality of Thatcher's Britain with the descent to totalitarian oppression and war of an earlier generation. A bit more polished than the first three EPs and the Why? 12", Never Again delivers three blasts of hardcore punk.

DISCHARGE "STATE VIOLENCE, STATE CONTROL" 7" (HAVOC)
Discharge's fifth 7", from 1982. The sound is a bit less raw and there is a tiny bit of the metal influence starting to show. The energy and power of Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing are starting to manifest on these tracks.

LEPROSY "5 TRACKS" 7" (HARDCORE VICTIM)
Australian punks on Hardcore Victim Records. Raw hardcore punk in the UK 82 style, reminds me of the noisier, less melodic bands to come out of the No Future/Riot City scene of the early 80's.

BAD BRAINS "PAY TO CUM" 7" (ROIR)
The single that started it all! ROIR, in conjunction with the Bad Brains, is proud to bring back this iconic slab of hot wax to its rightful place on record store shelves, and more importantly, in your collection. The remastered reissue of “Pay To Cum”, Bad Brains’ debut 7” single produced by Jimmy Quidd and originally released in 1980, has been repressed with original artwork and lyrics sheet insert.

LITTLE CUTS "PLASTIC DISASTER" 7" (DIRTNAP)
3 song EP of loud, chaotic pop from Seattle’s Little Cuts, featuring Dave Hernandez of Scared Of Chaka and The Shins. A-side is a slow building pop jam that would not have sounded too out of place in Broadcast Oblivion’s (Dave’s underrated post-Scared Of Chaka pre-Shins band) set, backed with 2 lo-fi garage stompers on the B-side.

LONG PIGS "S/T" 7" (SMRT)
If you have not heard of Long Pigs before, they are one of many bands that make us proud to live in NYC. Featuring members of Dawn of Humans, Hank Wood & the Hammerheads, and countless other bands of that ilk, Long Pigs specializes in playing incredibly raw hardcore punk with a real "fuck you, I'm punk" attitude, this time with better songwriting and a fuller-bodied recording than their excellent demo.

CRIMEN "NADA IMPORTA" 7" (DISCOS ENFERMOS)
Second reference in vinyl and with us from the mexicans CRIMEN. Following their debut LP perfectly, they come with 4 new songs maybe a little bit more mid-tempo and complex but with the same angry and rawness. Real punk hims that you can´t take out of your mind and don´t let you go. Art by Yecal (INSERVIBLES) include lirycs in spanish and english with explanations.

KRAKDOWN "S/T" 7" (STATE OF MIND)
Krakdown started in 1985 playing shows mostly around Long Island and CBGB's. It wasn't long before they became an integral part of the fledgling New York hardcore scene. The Krakdown line-up changed a bunch of times and band members also spent time in Token Entry, Crumbsuckers, Grey Area, In Your Face, and more. This record contains the self-titled EP released on Common Cause plus two other studio tracks. This studio version of "Krakdown" has never been leaked or released. New artwork picked out by Richie (Krakdown) himself. This is a limited 7" inch that will not be repressed. Limited edition of 500 copies.

ADRENALIN OD "LET'S BARBEQUE" 7" (PSYCHIC VOLT)
The legendary debut release by New Jersey’s hardcore punk pioneers, Adrenalin O.D., recorded live in the studio in one fifteen minute take. Now available for the first time in nearly three decades, remastered, on colored vinyl.

YOUTH AVOIDERS "TIME FLIES" 7" (BUILD ME A BOMB)
Time Flies is the awaited new record from Youth Avoiders. After an acclaimed 7 songs demo tape later repressed on 7'', after a confirmation of their talentuous songwritting skills on the split 7'' shared with Zombies are Pïssed, The ¾ parisian, ¼ german combo offers you 4 new songs. On this 45 rpm 7'' full of dynamics, you will recognise the perfect mix that is now the unique band' signature. Their music is a fresh and urgent hardcore punk, with a clean and vicious guitar sound that brings the already good riffs to a even higher level. This is accompagned by an acute and powerfull drumming, a solid and devoted bass riffing and fronted by a punchy and rasping voice.

IDIOT TALK "S/T" 7" (BUILD ME A BOMB)
Great debut ep by this french band (Lille, bg), 5 hits between Punk Rock and Hardcore. If you ever dig stuff by Brutal Knights, Career Suicide or New Bomb Turks, give it a try !

SUCKED DRY "S/T" 7" (PASS JUDGEMENT)

After a long treacherous wait, the MONSTER first EP is finally here from Kansas City's wildest gang of criminals, SUCKED DRY. Five tracks of barbaric and wicked hardcore punk. While taking hints from viciously primitive acts such as RORSCHACH, CROSSED OUT and NEANDERTHAL, the six minute blistering assault will make ya sweat like a stinky stuck swine. A truly frenzied hardcore release. Wonderfully two color silk-screened covers. 500 Copies on Black Vinyl. Split release with EAT THE LIFE.

BRAIN TUMORS "S/T" 7" (PASS JUDGEMENT)

7 incher debut from these Minneapolis freaks featuring six cuts of repulsive touch-n-go hardcore punk. Bright and jangled guitars onset the menacing headache while deranged vocals and roaring low-ends leave most squirming with one foot in the grave. Enough stench, hair and pus for the whole family brought to you by these four mutants. Four color screened covers round out this incredible package. 600 Pressed. Split release with FASHIONABLE IDIOTS Records.

SELF INTEREST "BLOOMING" 7" (PASS JUDGEMENT)
After releasing two cassettes earlier in 2010, Winnipeg's SELF-INTEREST exhibit four new tasty cuts on this debut 7", "BLOOMING". This fully-realized statement of hardcore punk churns out a bleak and brutal rampage beside personal vignettes of misanthropy. It's discordant yet motor driven, and loaded with troggy riffing not dissimilar to the music of THE U-MEN, BLOOD CIRCUS and other proto-grunge hits, while also channeling demented, and scathing outsider USHC acts like THE SCAM & SOLGER. Wonderfully silk-screened covers.

PUNCH "NOTHING LASTS" 7" (DEATHWISH)
The influences on “Nothing Lasts” are as varied as the 5 members’ musical backgrounds, spending time in bands as diverse as Doppelganger, Loma Prieta, and Bullets In. As with their previous releases “Nothing Lasts” straddles a variety of hardcore sub-genres. From thrash to d-beat to straight up youth crew Punch recombines all of these genres to create something all their own without ever being forced or cheesy (they're vegan, duh). “Nothing Lasts” is a slightly more introspective release for the band which lyrically and musically explores active nihilism – the idea that it is better to actively break down your walls and change yourself rather than to sit around and wait for the world to spoon feed you. Make each moment count because no matter good or bad, nothing lasts.

TRAPPED UNDER ICE "STAY COLD" 7" (REAPER)
Hailing from the port city of Baltimore, MD comes the war-mammoth known as Trapped Under Ice, who proudly inherit and build upon the mantle of their predecessors Next Step Up and Gut Instinct. Compound this with the sonic territories explored by New York bands such as Crown Of Thorns and Breakdown, and the intent of the outfit becomes obvious - total aural brutality. The vinyl version of this EP contains six tracks of unrelenting hardcore reality. New pressing now available on blue and white starburst vinyl with alternate artwork. Vinyl version includes digital download.

NAYSAYER "DOWN BUT NOT OUT" 7" (REAPER)
Richmond, VA has a rich history of strong and vital hardcore outfits. Following their debut EP, "No Remorse," on Reaper Records, this is Naysayer's new four-song offering, "Down But Not Out." For fans of Terror, Sheer Terror and Madball. 7" includes digital download

PERDITION "3RD EP" 7" (TOXIC STATE)
3rd EP from this raw punk band from New York. As with their other records, this is a total Anti-Cimex-style, raw noise fucking attack. These guys are noisy as shit, but the riffs are there and discernable, and thankfully there's none of that bouncy la-la bullshit that so many noise-punk bands are into these days. This is just raw, nasty, and aggressive. Great packaging, too, as per usual for Toxic State Records.

SICK OF IT ALL "S/T" 7" (REVELATION)
The first single from one of the biggest, most popular hardcore bands of all time. Original mastering still full of the raw energy that set this New York band apart from the rest. Ten tracks of classic NYHC now available again on vinyl.

BURN "S/T" 7" (REVELATION)
Pure, raw hardcore. The inspiration to many, many bands. Featuring Chaka, who later formed Orange 9mm, Gavin from Side By Side, Absolution and Alan from Beyond and Quicksand.

IVY LEAGUE "S/T" 7" (LIFE TO LIVE)
After settling into their sound, Ivy League proudly brings to you their self-titled debut 7? On Life to Live records. This record brings forward emotion and passion, and it (hopefully) has something everyone can relate to. With influences spanning from early Drive-Thru bands, to fast aggressive hardcore, this “Ivy League” is intense with emotion, both lyrically and musically.

STEP ASIDE "REACHING OUT" 7" (LIFE TO LIVE)
Step Aside formed in the summer of 2011 to fill the void of classic straight edge hardcore in their hometown of Tuscon, AZ. They've reached into the vault, borrowing elements from bands like Youth Of Today, Chain Of Strength, and Bold, lending a distinct late-'80s sound on these five tracks.

DAMAGES "LOVE'S LABOR" 7" (LIFE TO LIVE)
This is the 4th release put out by Life To Live Records. This band is for fans of American Nightmare, Count Me Out, and Horror Show. “Love’s Labor” combines various musical influences from all members, with obvious comparisons to early 2000's hardcore, into 9 minutes of manic, mostly straight-forward, fast hardcore punk. The subject matter is that of depression, loss, and heartbreak.

OVERLOOKED "NOTHING IS SACRED" 7" (LIFE TO LIVE)
The debut 7" From North Carolina’s own Overlooked, “Nothing Is Sacred” is 4 songs of unforgiving hardcore. With lyrics ranging from personal conflict to pure hatred, you can always feel the anger that this band embodies in their short and to the point songs. Musically reminiscent of early 2000's hardcore, “Nothing is Sacred” is fast, heavy, and everything in between and all in fewer than seven minutes.

COMPOUND "INAUGURAL DEMO" 7" (STATE OF MIND)
Members of current Long Island, NY champs Incendiary and Bottom Out have joined forces to present Compound, which has a sound reminiscent of bands of yore like Judge and Warzone.

V/A "EPILOGUE VOL. 1 KILL YOUR IDOLS TRIBUTE" COMP 7" (STATE OF MIND)
This 7" is the first in a four-7" series of tributes to the beloved NY hardcore band Kill Your Idols. The six bands featured this time are Bullet Treatment, Offsides, Backtrack, Rust Belt Lights, Seasick, and Violent Society, all of whom also contribute liner notes.

SACRED SHOCK "S/T" 7" (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
Austin, TX's Sacred Shock rose from the ashes of Army Of Jesus and continue to bring an incredibly intense onslaught of pure hardcore, channeling the spirits of bands that blended melody and angst like Articles Of Faith or The Pist and bring the raw passion of Deathreat or Talk Is Poison.

GROWING STRONGER COMPILATION - V/A 7" (TEAMWORK)
Damn near classic youth crew comp from 1997 featuring some of the best bands the northeast had to offer at the time. Bands on this comp include FLOORPUNCH, RAIN ON THE PARADE, ENSIGN, ATARI, PUSHED TOO FAR, and 97A. Comes with a rad lyric sheet poster.

97A "BETTER OFF DEAD" 7" (TEAMWORK)
12 tracks in about 11 minutes! This is the band that single handedly revived skate and thrashcore, no matter what their detractors might say. Always controversial and always angry, 97a played fast hardcore with a sincerity like very few others.

TENEMENT "THE BLIND WINK" LP (COWABUNGA)
It's NOT HARDCORE so I will just say that now. You only want super fast and have a closed in mind, you'll def not enjoy this. The band plays catchy punk but it's not pop punk. It's indie rock influenced but not indie rock. I can't describe this band exactly as its so spread out except they play their style extremely well and their songs stick in your head from one to the next. The sound they have now is a bit different from where they started. At 1st they had a Dinosaur Jr heaviness done to a Greg Ginn riff feast, a Husker Du wall of sound all crossed with a Descendents catchiness sort of way to their music. And yes, all of that still applies to the band to a degree but they incorporate more middle era Beatles, soul, early Kinks and post Let It Be later Replacements to the mix and that's Tenement's latest masterpiece. 11 stellar songs (the 1st 6 appeared on the rough mix tour tape release 'the Blind Wink' last winter) mastered by their guy Justin Perkins who's worked the knobs on the majority of their records. I would highly suggest this to those who actually listen to what I would consider good music as well as punk in general.

WEEKEND NACHOS "TWO THINGS AT ONCE" LP (COWABUNGA)
This LP is pretty easy to figure out, it compiles both the 'Torture' EP and the 'Bleed' EP's in their entirety aka their 'fast' and 'slow' records, 1 EP per side but the difference here is both records are remastered (you really need to hear the revised version of 'TORTURE'). Dig the Descendents reference in the title? Anyone even get it? The 'Torture' EP was the 1st release on the now defunct Tooth Decay imprint (CBR repressed it as a 7'' for a few more years) as well as being the 1st Nachos record. It also serves as one of the few in 2005 that seemed to set the standard for the 'next' wave of so called power violence but at the same time as soon as that term was being tossed around enough the band was a little put off by it as they thought of themselves as more of a fast hardcore band with 'PV' influence, not a straight up power violence band. Lyric wise they were a tad more light hearted on the record, but still remained largely cynical, sarcastic and angry which are Nachos lyric standards. In their music they bore elements of Charles Bronson lyrically, Infest in the brutality and John's vocals and Eyehategod (esp the latter in the closing 'Sludge') due to the thick/heavy tone they incorporated to differ from the rest of the pack. Then fast forward to the 'Bleed' 12'' EP from 2010 which originally was released on Relapse. The record seemed to confuse many people, which I never understood. The band always has dabbled a little in sludge on each release, so why not just once do a 2 song record more in the slow and heavy genre? I mean Eyehategod, Grief, Buzzoven and Black Sabbath are examples of influences on the band so it only makes sense! The A side tune (Bleed) was written specifically for the record, while the B side track was a song off the demo that was too good to be left behind so it got re-recorded and improved upon. So both records are now compiled on 1 record for your pleasure. Torture has been OOP for at least a yr and a half & Bleed went out of print within a few months. It feels good to have these songs out again, esp knowing the band still plays many of them still.

ORGANIZED SPORTS "I'M SO PROUD OF HIM" LP (BULKHEAD)
Venomous HC that pays quick homage to the old-school progenitors of the genre yet doesn't remain bound in its history.  Punishing tempos and discerning break-downs precariously held together by white-noise...this record is relentless in its assault and purpose.  Organized Sports is garnering a lot of attention locally (PDX), in a scene filled with savvy d-beat/HC veterans, as an up-and-coming band to watch.

VAGINORS "NUCLEAR PAP SMEAR" LP (HARDCORE VICTIM)
Debut LP from this Australian band who recently nabbed the cover of MRR before this LP even came out. I believe this band features some notable "ex-members of," but I'm not sure which bands, so I'll let you do the research. As for Vaginors, this is some gnarly, bass-driven noise punk with a sound along the lines of the Wankys (i.e. bass at the front of the mix and guitars and incoherent squeal), but the vocals really carry this. They're high-pitched and really campy, reminding me a little bit of the Secret Prostitutes, but quite a bit more unrestrained and (thus) not quite as catchy. In their MRR interview the band made a big deal about being song-oriented rather than just blasts of noise, and that approach definitely helps this Lp to stick out from the pack.

TEARGAS "THE WAY OF ALL FLESH" LP (HARDCORE VICTIM)
Debut 12" from this Australian hardcore band that play in the Japanese style (as if you couldn't tell by the cover art). While Teargas are clearly inspired by the huge riffs and epic leads of bands like Death Side, you can tell they're also hip to the raw, blown-out sound of more recent Japanese crust bands like Framtid and Kriegshog. The result is a complete monster of an LP... while it doesn't quite have the off-the-charts energy level of the last two bands I mentioned, as with, say, Forward, the band more than makes up for that with a tight, rocking edge. Fucking beastly shit here.

KROMOSOM "8 TRACKS" LP (HAVOC)
Debut 12" from these Australian crusties. I've seen these guys get hit with the "noise punk" tag (and the crusty puking on the cover wouldn't steer you away from that assumption), but I don't think that suits them at all... to me, this sounds more in line with the tradition of early Anti-Cimex-inspired raw and heavy crust bands. There's a catchiness here, but it's mostly in the guitar riffs rather than the basslines. I'm pretty sure this band is ex-Pisschrist, and that's a good point of departure, but Kromosom are more primitive and riff-oriented, which ultimately makes them a bit more memorable on vinyl. A ripper for sure.

NAZI DUST "WRETCHED HOUR" LP (VINYL RITES)
Certain cities make for incubators of specific kinds of music and Tampa, like Detroit, makes for ugly music. NAZI DUST is a hardcore punk band pulling from the nastier moments of 80's Boston hardcore, mostly SIEGE and SSD. Their recording is raw, their drums are pounding, their guitar and bass are buzzsaws of treble and distortion and the vocals are spit with an unreal amount of venom. Violent music from young men in a violent city.

D. VASSALOTTI "BOOK OF GHOSTS" LP (VINYL RITES)
David has been cutting his teeth for 10 years in various bands around the Tampa area. Most recently he's been half of MERCHANDISE and a quarter of NEON BLUD, before that he was one of the primarJAMy song writers in CULT RITUAL, and all this time he has had 5+ other projects on deck. Very rarely do we drop the ex-members card at VINYL RITES, but having that kind of musical pedigree is pretty unbeatable. His first solo LP is wildly different from the aforementioned groups, although it shares some of the bedroom sensibilities that MERCHANDISE espouses so well. Luckily for all of us, great song writing transcends genre and with BOOK OF GHOSTS he explores more of the Creation Records and 4AD back catalog. His musical hombre ZZ compares it to FELT and TRANS era NEIL YOUNG. It seamlessly goes from intensely personal singer-songwriter numbers to huge and lush shoe-gazing darkness, from NEW ORDER pop to THIS MORTAL COIL downers. Not only our favorite release on VINYL RITES yet, but it's also one of the most hauntingly beautiful recordings we've heard in years.

WARRIOR KIDS "LES ENFANT DE L'ESPOIR" LP (KATORGA WORKS)
This is the official U.S. reissue of the classic debut LP from Marseilles, France's Warrior Kids. This comes at a very crucial time, as it marks this classic skinhead/oi band's 30th year of existence. Appearing on various classic oi compilations, the original incarnation of Warrior Kids released a 7" single and this phenomenal LP. Warrior Kids remain one of the archetypical French oi bands, alongside Camera Silens, Snix, and Komintern Sect and this long out-of-print/expensive LP is now made available to the record buying public once more. Remastered by Josh Bonati. Comes in a beautiful gatefold jacket with 17"x9" poster.

SPAZZ "LA REVANCHA" LP (625)
Next up in the series of legitimate SPAZZ releases is their "La Revancha" LP originally released on Sound Pollution in 1995. This LP marked a new point in SPAZZ's output ? they had found their signature sound and tried to push this to its extreme. 20+ minutes of crazed Bay Area power violence with a CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER cover to boot.  Limited to 1500 pressed, all with 12x24 screened two color covers, insert and colored vinyl (split between 750 each on red vinyl and yellow vinyl). Be sure to watch for the last installment, a vinyl reissue of SPAZZ's debut "Dwarf Jester Rising" LP!

NERVESKADE "S/T" LP (STATIC AGE)
The first full length from Portlands newest generation of young noise punks !!! Manic Hardcore ala Lebenden Toten, Discharge, Confuse and Disorder !!! Brilliant Artwork !!! For Punks Only !!!

PROBLEMS "MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT" LP (STATIC AGE)
Wow! Killer PDX punk rock. Their first LP after a bunch of 45's. All you need to    know is that this is some urgent punked out hardcore the way it is supposed to be played. They have slashing guitars with pounding drums that rise out of the discordant noise climaxing into a screaming rant. This is worlds above the other punk out there, being played by folks who have lived it. ( Members of Poison Idea, Severed Head of State, Pierced Arrows, Resist, Defiance etc. )

BELLEVUE "DISCOGRAPHY 80-83" LP (STATIC AGE)
Here is another beautiful piece of punk rock outta Switzerland !!! This time it is the Bellevue Discography Lp 1980 - 1983 Lp!!! Bellevue-Discography LP. Absolutly beautifully packaged collection of the two 7"s of this essential Swisspunk band, some never before released studio songs from the period plus three remastered but still raw live songs. Includes innersleave with Rare pictures, History and Biography !!! On various Kbd boots ...

NOEM "4 SONG" 12" (STATIC AGE)
POST/NOISE-PUNK. Members of HERPES, DISCO VIETNAM and PRESSGANG delivering the most scarry, dangerous and mysterious stuff out of the fucking Hauptstadt., Berlin. Recommended for people who never get out of bed, pop their zits with sweaty fingers or just love FLIPPER, NO BALLS, DRUNKDRIVER, BLACK FLAG and PISSED JEANS. These 4 tracks are 100% sick fucking shit ...

EXIT CONDITION "H2SO4" LP (BOSS TUNEAGE)
"H2SO4" would have been the name of the bands follow up to "Days Of Wild Skies" that was never recorded, however the 13 tracks on here give a rough indication of what would have been included on that album! This compiles the final studio recordings of the band from 1991-1994 onto vinyl , featuring 13 tracks made up of the peel session, split LP with Sofahead tracks, split 7" with Reverse tracks and the 4 song session that included the split 7" with Lovemen released on Snuffy Smile. Nine of these tracks have never previoulsy been available on vinyl!  With all tracks being digitally remastered, this limited edition coloured vinyl LP has a heavyweight board sleeve and printed insert containing liner notes from drummer Richard Stanier, plus photos and memorabilia from the bands personal collection, this is a must have release for fans of the whole UKHC scene.

EXIT CONDITION "DAYS OF WILD SKIES" LP (BOSS TUNEAGE)
“Days Of Wild Skies” is the second of these releases, the bands classic album originally released on Meantime in 1990, the original of which has been out of print for almost two decades and is highly sought after. Its my personal favourite album of the early 90s by a UK band alongside Leatherface's "Mush".

ACCUSED, THE "MORE FUN THAN AN OPEN CASKET FUNERAL" LP (UNREST)
The Accused created a form of music they call "splatter-rock" which is screaming fast hardcore, metal and punk all wrapped into one, with lyrics that range from politics to cartoonish death and destruction. This classic has been out of press for quite some time. The original pressing from 1987, on Combat Records, has sold over 50,000 copies worldwide and is now back due to popular demand on Unrest Records, remastered.

ACCUSED, THE "ARCHIVE TAPES 81-86" 2xLP (UNREST)
This relic is a musical time machine documenting their rise to ambiguity, providing insight on their influence and underground status as forefathers of early 80's "crossover". The ACCUSED's 34 song "Archives Tapes" 2xLP reveals early teen-punk roots, including early demo tracks of vintage 'Splatter Rock' and the creeping metal-influence!! It also contains humbling outtakes, candid rehearsal sessions, live bootlegs and extensive liner notes.  Packaging comes in a nice glossy gatefold cover.  Splatter heads beware!!

FREEZE, THE "RABID REACTION" LP (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
Thought by many to be the quintessential full-length by The Freeze, 1986's "Rabid Reaction" is ten tracks that clock in at around 25 minutes. The Freeze were an integral part of the early Boston scene, but played a more melodic, punk rock influenced brand of hardcore.

FREEZE, THE "LIVE FROM CAPE COD 1980" LP (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
The Holy Grail of all Freeze Releases.... This live lp contains the earliest live documentation of the band. The band had just released their classic I Hate Tourist 7" and were masking enemies wherever they went. This LP contains unreleased songs and many songs that were rewritten or adapted and would later be featured on the bands classic 80's LP's: Land of the lost and Rabid Reaction. Great sound quality. First press includes a large color poster and colored vinyl.

BOLD "THE SEARCH 1985-1989" 2xLP (REVELATION)
"The Search: 1985-1989" fittingly illustrates the journey of Bold from the raw energy and passion of the Crippled Youth "Join The Fight" EP, to the milestone straight edge hardcore album "Speak Out", and finally to their vastly progressed swan song, "Looking Back". This complete discography allows for some insight into the development of Bold as a band and as people - the lyrics and music move together, a synchronicity that marks the growth of the band. Drawing influences from the bands that came before them like Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and Youth Of Today, Bold burst out on the scene with something to prove, and more importantly, something to say. Now available on vinyl with a gatefold cover. Vinyl version includes digital download.

BACKTRACK "DARKER HALF" LP (REAPER)
Uncompromising NYHC flag-bearers, Backtrack, have been working hard on their debut CD/LP, "Darker Half." Their album-titled single has already made its way around blogs, music news sites and message boards with more singles to be released all the way through street date. Since their 2008 demo release, they've released a string of 7"s, giving them three full years to hone their Long Island-inspired brand of NYHC for their first full-length. Vinyl version includes digital download.

TRAPPED UNDER ICE "BIG KISS GOODNIGHT" LP (REAPER)
With roots embedded deep in the hardcore scene, Trapped Under Ice is broadening their reach and exploding far beyond genres like their predecessors Hatebreed did. Trapped Under Ice gets diehard support from hardcore punks, tried and true metal heads, and everyone in between. Here's 13 tracks packed with the signature T.U.I. groove, grit and pit starter. LP includes digital download.

TERROR "KEEPERS OF THE FAITH" LP (REAPER)
Frontman Scott Vogel sums it all up, “This is the record we put everything we have into, from the music to the lyrics, the layout to the title and to the direct hand to hand street marketing approach, we are putting it all on the line. We took all the rules of what’s going on in the industry today and washed them from our minds. We wanted to capture those early days of hardcore. This is the record we were destined to make. This is TERROR at its best and I’m so excited to get this out and start touring surrounding its energy and passion.”  So prepare for the release; the latest communiqué to the troops; everyone on high alert for the imminent distribution of hardcore reality. You know what you’re getting into when TERROR releases new tracks. Clear any room you may be in because it’s not gonna be pretty.

NAYSAYER "LAID TO REST" LP (REAPER)
Richmond, VA has a long tradition of strong and vital hardcore outfits, and in a scene that puts out that much quality consistently, there is only one surefire way to ignite a crowd: by pouring your heart and being into every set. NAYSAYER are masters of that way. Every song becomes an incendiary device when performed live. Bodies fly, limbs blur, things are broken … and in the end, all is mended through the catharsis. Debuting with the EP No Remorse in 2009 and continuing on with the Down But Not Out EP earlier this year, fall 2011 brings NAYSAYER’s first full-length to Reaper, Laid To Rest. Get it, learn it, and go experience it live. Expect more shows. More brutality. More trips to the hospital. Don’t worry, you’ll heal.

TAKE OFFENSE "TABLES WILL TURN" LP (REAPER)
With a sound undeniably influenced by the Venice, CA style of hardcore (Suicidal Tendencies, No Mercy, Beowulf), Take Offense is a refreshing and welcomed addition to a saturated market of cookie-cutter hardcore bands. After a self-released cassette tape and EP entitled "Peace In Death," as well as the "Happiness Under Chains" EP released on Double Or Nothing Records, Take Offense is soon to be releasing a full-length album entitled "Tables Will Turn' on Reaper Records. The record features a total of ten songs, seven of which are brand new tracks while three previously written songs will round out the release.

TERROR "LOWEST OF THE LOW" LP (BRIDGE NINE)
Former Buried Alive vocalist Scott Vogel and main songwriter from Carry On Todd Jones front this amazing hardcore act. Nine tracks of stripped down, straight forward hardcore for fans of Throwdown, American Nightmare or Hatebreed. Now available again on colored vinyl. LP includes digital download.

GIVE UP THE GHOST "YEAR ONE" LP (BRIDGE NINE)
Arguably one of the most important collection of recordings on Bridge Nine EVER. American Nightmare's first two EP's, the seminal "Self Titled" 7" and sophomore "The Sun Isn't Getting Any Brighter" 7" (originally released in 2000 and 2001, respectively), helped raise awareness for both the band and the Bridge Nine label worldwide. The release of the first AN 7" represented a very different time at the label - when the band went into the studio to record, Bridge Nine was still being run out of an apartment in Boston's Mission Hill. Tim (guitar) and Wes (vocals) were roommates and friends, putting out their first EP was a natural fit. It's crazy to think that 10 years have past, and of all of the stuff that has happened since. Everyone moves on, everything changes. But fortunately, the impact that these songs left a decade ago is still being felt across the hardcore/punk music scene worldwide. Their influence has been undeniable, and this 10th anniversary re-issue is an opportunity to make the songs available again on vinyl for a new generation of fans. When the EP's were originally released, Bridge Nine had a slim budget to work with. In 2011 our resources are still limited but we were able to give this release each of the quality details that it deserves. Each LP is pressed on heavy weight 180 gram vinyl. The recording's laquers were mastered by John Golden, and the vinyl is a mix of mostly black with a little bit of red, white or blue, an effect that we wanted to do in 2001 but couldn't afford at the time. Each LP includes a large, 17"x22" double sided poster insert, with a big collage of all things AN from the early years. To top it all off, the iconic angel illustrated by Linas Garsys that has graced the cover of multiple Give Up The Ghost releases is now embossed, to give it a nice 3D appearance.

GIVE UP THE GHOST "BACKGROUND MUSIC" LP (DEATHWISH)
American Nightmare's "Background Music" was originally released by Equal Vision Records on June 12th, 2001. Produced by Tim Cossar and Dean Baltulonis, "Background Music" is anything but what the title implies, standing the test of time as a true hardcore classic. Deathwish, under exclusive license from Equal Vision Records, is proud to announce the reissue of "Background Music" on vinyl format. LP includes free digital download.

GIVE UP THE GHOST "WE'RE DOWN TIL WE'RE UNDERGROUND" LP (DEATHWISH)
"We're Down Til We're Underground" by Give Up The Ghost was originally released by Equal Vision Records on September 23rd, 2003. Produced by Jim Siegel (Blood For Blood, Slapshot) and Tim Cossar, "We're Down..." is a true milestone of a hardcore album, encapsulating the personal growth, strife and struggle of the band members that helped to create it. Deathwish, under exclusive license from Equal Vision Records, is proud to announce the reissue of "We're Down Til We're Underground" on vinyl format. LP includes free digital download.

CRUEL HAND "LOCK AND KEY" LP (BRIDGE NINE)
Full of just as many catchy, metallic riffs as mosh parts, "Lock & Key" is a heavy mix of influences like Madball, Leeway, Cro-Mags, Metallica, Suicidal and Obituary, and is one of the most well-rounded hardcore albums in recent memory. "Lock & Key" was recorded in Wakefield, MA with producer Jay Maas (Verse, Bane, Defeater) and illustrates what Cruel Hand is capable of both lyrically and musically - this is more than just a progression of their past material, this is a defining release for Cruel Hand. Cruel Hand has shared the stage with bands like Have Heart, Bane, Terror and Death Before Dishonor, and will continue to tour the globe non-stop in support of "Lock & Key." Vinyl version includes digital download.

CARRY ON "A LIFE LESS PLAGUED" LP (BRIDGE NINE)
One of the greatest albums B9 has ever released, Carry On's "A Life Less Plagued" originally came out 10 years ago and was the first full-length the label ever put out. Unfortunately, Carry On broke up shortly after its release, and the record has been highly sought after ever since. "A Life Less Plagued" has been unavailable on LP for the last seven years and finally, Bridge Nine has re-pressed this classic album.

POLICE AND THIEVES "FRACTURING" LP (YOUNGBLOOD)
Washington, DC's Police & Thieves return with seven new songs of fast, melodic hardcore combining influences from their hometown with elements of post punk, having just as much in common with Dag Nasty and Marginal Man as well as later-era Seaweed and Samiam. For fans of Verbal Assault, Turning Point, Embrace and Dag Nasty. LP includes digital download.

CHAOS UK "S/T" LP (PAPAGAJUV HLASATEL)
Beautiful reissue of the debut album by the almighty Chaos UK. I always found this record to be fairly unique in their discography... it doesn't really fit in with the simple, catchy punk of their Riot City singles, nor is it noisy enough to really stand next to the full on noise-punk assault they would pioneer with later records like Short, Sharp Shock. While there are elements of both of those sounds still, this always seemed to me like Chaos UK's stab at anarcho punk... the drumming in particular recalls that style, with lots of mid-paced, tom-heavy, pounding rhythms and ranting vocals. While I absolutely adore all periods of Chaos UK, when I look at what I actually listen to this is probably my most-played of their LPs. It's different and not exactly what you would expect from this band, but a total classic.

JAM, THE "IN THE CITY" LP (POLYDOR)
Originally forming in Woking, Surrey in 1972, the Jam, fronted by guitarist and singer Paul Weller, and backed by Bruce Foxton on bass and Rick Buckler on drums, truly benefited from London's nascent punk scene of the late 1970s; this, despite their resolutely mod revivalist image. With a look that paid homage to the The Who and the Kinks a decade earlier, they released In The City on Polydor in May 1977, reaching a UK peak of No.20. In The City ís title track was released as the band's debut single a month earlier, making a respectable Top 40 showing. The album's 12 tracks, spread across a bold, energetic and clamorous 32 minutes, features ten Weller originals, as well as a cover of Larry Williamsí ëSlow Downí plus a quirky take on the Batman theme tune.

V/A "GIRLS IN THE GARAGE, VOL 12" LP (SAPERLIPOPETTE)
Here we are with a very special volume, entirely devoted to French pop girls. Not always what you might call garage music, but you are sure to dig these 14 charming French swinging ladies! Released only on beautiful blue vinyl!

BLACK FLAG "EVERYTHING WENT BLACK" 2xLP (SST)
This compilation provides an excellent collection of Black Flag tracks from the pre-Rollins era. Morris, Chavo, and Dez all added a unique character to the band, and this album makes it obvious. The progression of the band's sound is apparent, the multiple version of Gimme Gimme Gimme make it clear, but overall the listener hears the band's sound get more aggressive and faster as the LP progresses. Overall a great record to buy to see the progression of Black Flag as a band, prior to Rollins taking over in 1981.

ALL "ALLROY FOR PREZ" 12" (CRUZ)
"Allroy for Prez is an EP exclusively filled with love songs. It's a damn fine one as well, featuring a novel chemistry between Stevenson, Edgerton, and Alvarez. ALL's vocalist on the album is Dave Smalley; he's the versatile frontman of punk bands DYS, Dag Nasty, and Down by Law, emerging in the album as a student of love. His voice strains and lacks confidence, almost unrecognizable when compared to his later work where he sounds like he has taken a few shots of whiskey before approaching the microphone. This innocence only helps the album as this student of love rebukes his former affairs. As for Smalley's back-up, they get their own time in the spotlight with an instrumental (a trend on some ALL/Descendents albums) that sets up the end of the album. They jam as expected with Stevenson and Alvarez breaking down Edgerton's heavy riffs, sounding much like the theme song to a zombie invasion of a skate park."

RISE AND FALL "HELLMOUTH" LP (DEATHWISH)
Originally released by JTTP Records and Surprise Attack Records in 2004, this definitive Deathwish version is a new pressing and boasts a brand new mastering job, revamped artwork and three bonus tracks never previously available on vinyl (including an Integrity cover). Listening back years later, it's apparent that even in their primordial form, Rise And Fall had the musical venom to compete with the biggest beasts out there. Thunderous drumming, thick walls of guitars, ripping solos and brutal vocals all coalesce to lay the blueprint for "punk metal" as we know it, making Hellmouth an essential experience for any hardcore fan out there today.

BLACKLISTED "WE'RE UNSTOPPABLE" LP (DEATHWISH)
A body-smashing collection of early and rare material from Philadelphia, PA true-grit hardcore obliterators Blacklisted. A furious assault of infectious mosh breaks, total urgency and powerful lyrics. Includes the band's out-of-print "Our Youth Is Wasted" recordings, as well as their hard-to-find early demos. Now available on colored vinyl. Vinyl version includes digital download.

BATTLETORN "REFLECT THE FILTH" LP (MAD AT THE WORLD)
Despite becoming a two-city in 2007, the NYC/ Nashville thrash-duo William and Omid soldiered on and continued to lay musical waste to all that crossed their path, managing a tour of Japan in the process. The ingredients to Battletorn's vision are few and simple, but they deliver such a ferocious thrash/ punk/ metal/ hardcore mania that you'd never guess there's only two of them. Perhaps the words of others describe them best: "With nothing to hide behind, be it longwinded, cryptic lyrics, 'majestic' album art or dense and overdone production, Battletorn come quickly, come prejudicially, and itís all over before oneís able to really process what has transpired." (LeftHandPath) Reflect the Filth will be the band's final full-length offering, and compiles 8 studio tracks recorded at The Thousand Caves with Behold... The Arctopus' Colin Marston at the knobs on the A-side. Side B has a complete live set (clocking in at 15 minutes, it's the band's longest) recorded in Tokyo on the last night of their Japanese tour. The records is a split release between Mad at the World (New York/ Montreal), Grrman Records (UK), and Challenge the Throne (US/ Cal).

MODERN HATE VIBE #5 ZINE
New issue from the well-renowned UK editor Ms. Bryony Beynon. You may recognize her writing from the column she publishes in Maximum Rock N Roll and this here is her zine. Written and laid out in a total stream-of-consciousness manner, the zine kicks off with a review of a book detailing the early days of THE DESPERATE BICYCLES and Hackney, UK DIY punk. Following that HYGIENE gab about how different British cities play a role in the music that develops and is unique to each area. Also included is an interview with Canada's NU SENSAE, writing on everything from THE WAITRESSES to late-80's NYHC, and a mess of other editorials and reviews. Half size, 46 pages.

PAINS HARDCORE FANZINE #6 ZINE
Hardcore fanzine for the freaks, here's Canada's printed powerhouse, Pains. This new issue begins with a quote from the mighty Pig Champion and segues into a wacky, stupor-inducing chat with OMEGAS. Boston HC brethren RIVAL MOB and BOSTON STRANGLER offer up one-page interviews and we get a bit longer posthumous interview with Mike of BORN BAD. A good chunk of the zine is dedicated to the entertaining URBAN BLIGHT Euro tour journal as well. No reviews this issue, just a mind boggling "top 100 hardcore songs 2000-2010". Enough said, pick it up if you're looking for a hardcore fanzine that delivers where it should. Full size, 18 pages.

ACHTUNG #4 ZINE
The primitive punk zine out of Memphis TN returns. Features THE UV RACE, CHEAP TIME, and TY SEGALL plus Photos from Don Perry and April Novak Reviews of the latest 1977/Last Laugh/Sing Sing records from Goner Guru John Hoppe Memphis scene report part II and some other stuff.

OBSESSOR "SICK SALVATION" TAPE (TANKCRIMES)
Brand new 2 track cassingle from my solo metal punk project OBSESSOR. This recording is a bit beefier than the 1st and the influences range from AUTOPSY, SLAYER and SACRILEGE to more midtempo stuff such as VENOM, MOTORHEAD, AND METALLICA. You'll hear em all here when u buy the 2 song cassette. 2 very good songs that are long enough (but not too long) to get your moneys worth. Pro printed cassettes. Real deal.

HOLY SHIT! "LIVE ON WMSE" TAPE (ULTRAWASTE)
To celebrate ten years of Holy Shit! Ultrawaste presents the amazing live set HS! did on WMSE 25 songs of 100mph hardcore/punk played to perfection, think DIE KREUZEN meets NEOS in a blender, Holy Shit throws in a blend of humor to some songs but always keeping it intense, taking only a moment needed for Tony to yell out the song title in between songs. Let your short attention span be put to the test!

Good / Bad news ladies and gents ... sadly, I will not be joining COKE BUST, DOC, and TENEMENT on tour down south as previously planned. Luckily I was able to catch these bands (and Poison Planet) last night in Raleigh and they were all killer so please don't miss em if they are playing near you.

WEBSTORE UPDATE / JANUARY 3, 2012!

First off, Happy New Years to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are starting 2012 on a good note. I wanted to kick off my first update of the year with a full label update, but sadly that will have to wait. I'm heading out on a little vacation this weekend, then when I get home I'll be hopping in the van with COKE BUST, DOC, and TENEMENT for a week down south, so I'm a little overwhelmed and rushed this week but looking forward to getting out of town for a little bit and hopefully I'll see some friends along the way.

That being said, first thing I need to mention is that orders will NOT be shipping while I'm gone. Any orders placed in the webstore on or after this Thursday, January 5th, will not be shipped until I return (probably January 17th at the earliest). I'm going to try my hardest to make sure everything ordered by this Wednesday gets out before I leave, so if you are eyeing something in this update, don't hesitate! You will still be able to place orders while I'm gone, just keep in mind that you will have to wait a bit longer before they ship.

Second ... thanks to everyone who's placed an order over the past week. I unfortunately hit a few delays in between the holidays so I'm a little behind on shipping orders, but I hope to catch up 100% between today and Wednesday. So those of you currently waiting on orders, thanks for your patience.

Third, I put a little "special" in the webstore to ring in the new year ... 2011 was a pretty productive year for the label, so to celebrate I'm offering your choice of 1 7", 1 LP, and 1 CD from the Grave Mistake titles that were released in 2011 for only $11. I figured that would be a good opportunity if you missed one of last year's releases, or you wanted to check out one of the bands you have yet to hear, or maybe you need to pick up a late x-mas present for a friend! Please note that this package deal is for GRAVE MISTAKE releases from 2011 only, not non-GM distro stuff!  Anyways, you can check that out here (please read the description / instructions before ordering),  I will probably have it up for the next couple of weeks:

GRAVE MISTAKE 2011 RELEASE PACKAGE DEAL / 1 7", 1 LP, 1 CD FOR $11.00

Since I'm not feeling too hot this evening, I'm going to spare you the summary and cut this update short here.  I will say, there is a ton of awesome new stuff in this update ... some killer brand new releases and some other cool records from 2011 that I had yet to scoop up, so it's good to start 2012 off with some great new distro additions. I have a lot more new distro goods on there way to me over the next few weeks, so definitely expect another (and maybe a bit more detailed) update in a couple of weeks, and if I can find the time I'll fill you in on what you can expect from GRAVE MISTAKE in 2012. For now, check out the list below and pick something up!

Thanks for reading!

FRONT LINE "BASIC TRAINING" 7" (BEACH IMPEDIMENT)
After having been in limbo for the better part of 30 years, we are proud to bring you the long lost "BASIC TRAINING" E.P. by Norfolk, VA's FRONT LINE. Commonly known as the "Second Demo" by tape traders over the years, this was recorded in October of 1982 shortly before the band imploded, leading to the formation of BONESAW and eventually GOD'S WILL. "BASIC TRAINING" features 10 tracks of primal and vicious USHC not unlike fellow Virginians WHITE CROSS with whom they shared the stage many times over their brief existence. Select tracks from this session would go on to be featured on compilations like THE MASTER TAPE VOL. 2 on Paul Mahern's Affirmation Records (along side bands like MECHT MENSCH, ZERO BOYS, NO LABELS, and many more) and the legendary all Virginia TARANTULA ON MY COCK tape that guitarist Jeff Clites would release in 1983, but this is the first time all of these songs have officially appeared together the way they were meant to. Raging Southern Hardcore at it's finest. Comes in a glue pocket sleeve containing a 7"x14" insert with liner notes and a collage of photos and flyers from the band's year long run, along with a sticker and a download code.

CULO / TENEMENT - SPLIT 7" (COWABUNGA)
Tenement/Culo split 7''- Odd pairing, or a combo of the best? It can be viewed in both ways but I like the latter explanation a lot more. 2 of the USA's best bands and both hail from the neighboring states of Wisconsin and Illinois. Culo delivers 4 songs of their style of hardcore punk you've come to expect and Tenement dish out 2 songs of melodic punk with heavy riffage, pop backbeat and SST style flair. Comes with nice covers and housed in a black dust sleeve, small 1 time press of 500 ever which is criminal. Midwest is best!

NO TOLERANCE "NO REMORSE, NO TOLERANCE" 7" (YOUNGBLOOD)
Two years in the making, NO TOLERANCE storm through with 6 songs of Boston straight-edge. For fans of old Boston hardcore, featuring members of THE RIVAL MOB and MIND ERASER.

GIVE "FLOWER HEAD" 7" (YOUNGBLOOD)
Give return with another incredible offering in their series of singles.  Taking influences from rev-summer era hardcore, but with an undeniable style of their own, GIVE aren’t following trends or trying to fit in; they’re just putting music and lyrics first, and putting everything they have into their live shows.

FACE REALITY "S/T" 7" (YOUNGBLOOD)
Detroit, MI's own Face Reality return with their second EP and debut for Youngblood Records. Face Reality cite Warzone, Turning Point, Youth Of Today and Mouthpiece as influences and they've been steadily working towards becoming the straight edge powerhouse that they are now.

TOTAL WRECK "2ND EP" 7" (SLEEPYHEAD)
Final effort from this Virginia outfit. Hardcore the way it should be, loud and fast. A huge improvement over their first 7", these six songs pack the punch and anger of bands like BATTALION OF SAINTS. If modern groups like DARK AGES or STRIPMINES peak your interest, then TOTAL WRECK will be right up your alley. Small pressing of 300 with hand-stamped center labels.

WYMYNS PRYSYN "S/T" 7" (SCAVENGER OF DEATH)
"After a killer demo a year or two ago, here's the debut 7" from Atlanta's Wymyns Prysyn. These guys have something different going on than a lot of their fellow Atlanta bands... they're neither power pop or punk a la the Carbonas / Gentleman Jesse scene nor ripping HC a la Bukkake Boys. Instead, this is some raging yet hypnotic punk, recalling the Wipers/Hot Snakes school, but with a really raw recording and a more hardcore-derived energy. Basically, this is hardcore, but with much more ambitious and interesting hooks... the Scavenger of Death label has a flawless record so far and this is another rager" - sorrystaterecords.com

BOILERMAN "YIELD THE GHOST" 7" (COWABUNGA)
Fantastic 2nd EP from this Chicago pop punk band. On this their follow up to their debut EP, the band goes down a darker path musically and add more elements of the Wipers and slight UK post punk touches but not in a lame hip way, more to add elements of variety to their gruff but super catchy midwestern pop punk. I always liked the Broadways meets early Saves the Day comparison I have given them but add Dillinger Four and to my ears anyways early Shades Apart as influence too. Where they are a true midwestern pop punk band, they also have more melodic tendencies as well.

SICK/TIRED "S/T" 7" (COWABUNGA)
Sick/Tired- ST EP- Hahaha, ST could actually stand for 'Sick Tired' as much as it does 'Self Titled' which is what I meant! 7 new songs of ferocious grindcore with thrash, 80's HC and death metal influence from Chicago/Dekalb. Without a doubt this is their most intense and loudest material to date too. Recorded by Andy of Weekend Nachos at his home studio and a much better fit for the band since he has an understanding for what band's like ST should sound like plus last time they recorded with a guy who does mainly melodic punk for when they recorded their LP. Sure the LP sounds good but it wasn't mastered and just a bit empty because of that. That has been corrected this time around!

SKUNKS "CAN'T GET LOOSE" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
In the great punk-rock-lyric-as-sex-metaphor sweepstakes, 'Earthquake Shake' by the Skunks is outpaced only by 'Horizontal Action' and 'Jerkin'' by The Drive (masturbation definitely being sex with someone I love). Canonized on 'Bloodstains Across Texas' and rightly regarded as one of the Lone Star State's mightiest monsters, Austin's finest proceeded to cut a slew of other good-to-great records over the next few years; however, their best and most essential moment remains their first.  'Earthquake Shake' and the b-side 'Can't Get Loose' capture the Skunks' at their sex-obsessed peak and no punk rock collection - no matter how weekend casual - can be called complete without it.

INCREDIBLE KIDDA BAND "(WATCH OUT) THIEF) 7" (LAST LAUGH)
An incredibly gifted power-pop sextet, The Incredible Kidda Band without a doubt were the most exciting things to come out of Coventry since the Blitz (bombs in the sky, not razors in the night).  Sadly, too much, too little, too late was the fate of the majority of the band?s recordings, BUT NOW, thanks to the intervening hand of Last Laugh Records, two of the band?s best 1978 recordings are free to sing and spin at the speed at which nature had always intended:  45 rpm!  The A-side ? ?Watch Out Thief? ? is Thorstein Veblen with a brown-ale pub dance beat or perhaps the Cockney Rejects ?Badman? cast as a mod instead of a skin, while the B-side - ?You Belong To Me? ? shows exactly where the Exploding Hearts were lifting 90% of their melodic ideas.  Vintage, top-ranking Great British power pop:  first time at 45 with period appropriate picture sleeve design by Sing Sing Records dynamo Trey Lindsey and utterly essential to your life.  YOU BUY IT!

DIET COKEHEADS "OCULAR" 7" (VINYL RITES)
The A side, "M. Dumptruck", is a heavy nod to fellow Floridians HARRY PUSSY, with harsh noise, a heavy dance beat and the debut of drummer Vivienne Rohan's incredible vocals. The B side, "Gay Goters", is a six minute guitar driven dirge similar to DAZZLING KILLMEN and other noise rocking punk. More extreme, harsher, rawer and more violent then the previous recordings, this is the best Cokeheads offering yet. Split 12" with The Men (Sacred Bones Records) out next on Vinyl Rites.

BAD COYOTES "S/T" 7" (ELIS MILE HIGH)
The 7″ debut by Oakland’s bluesy rocknroll punk band BAD COYOTES. 4 explosive blues/rocknroll based punk ragers guaranteed to blow your head off. This is the first release on Mile High Records since 1984. This record is limited to 300 copies.

HIGHWAY CROSS "LOCKED IN" 7" (HIGHWAY CROSS)
Washington DC's Highway Cross introduces themselves with “Locked In,” a self-released, 4-song 7” featuring fast, noisy punk with no song breaking the 2.5 minute mark.  Still, they manage to cram in plenty of catchy garage rhythm, Cheetah Chrome-esque leads, and an unrelenting hi-hat punctuated by strained vocals.  Members include familiar faces, having played in bands like Majority Rule, Cloak/Dagger, and Haram, and although this lineup delivers their own signature sound, fans of any of those bands will definitely want to check this out.

HIGH SOCIETY, THE "NURNBERG SOLL BRENNEN" 7" (SEARCH FOR FAME)
After a 7" and a split 12" with LIGHTS OUT this is the third release from  THS from nürnberg. 80's punk with german lyrics, sounds a little bit like all the bands from scandinavia (NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS, etc.).

PRESS GANG / SNIFFING GLUE - SPLIT 7" (SEARCH FOR FAME)
Split 7" by two of german finest HC/punk-bands. SG deliver once more 3 perfect 80's influenced hardcore/punk tracks, PG throw in 2 fine KBD-styled punk-smasher...

VENGEANCE "THE MESSAGE IS FUCK YOU" 7" (SEARCH FOR FAME)
Late 80's influenced hardcore with a hint of punk. if you like early AGNOSTIC FRONT, CAUSE FOR ALARM... this one is for you...

VENGEANCE "ARE A BUNCH OF PC WIMPS" 7" (SEARCH FOR FAME)
Second single from vengeance, furious 80's hardcore somwhere between new york and boston, lot of power and melodies, good lyrics, perfect soundtrack to destroy your home...

AMSTERDAMNED "S/T" 7" (GUMMOPUNX)
"Here's a brand new record from the same dudes who put out the Sick Mormons newest jammer and its from Amsterdamned. TRUE 80's HC (since it is actual 80's HC) from these Dutch punks, this contains 3 unreleased songs and the ’’Als je haar maar goed zit” compilation songs as well. I am not certain of the other tracks if they are from their elusive demo tape but I'd imagine that maybe they're alt versions perhaps? I wouldn't be the guy to ask certainly. Housed in a UV coated glue pocket cover. Regardless though if you love that powerful Dutch HC sound you won't go wrong with this. A VERY welcome surprise, kudos to this reissue." - cowabungarecords.com

WANDERLUST "S/T" 7" (GUMMOPUNX)
Debut EP from this catchy Dutch hc/punk band featuring ex members of SICK MORMONS. 500 pressed.

BRILLIANT COLORS "NEVER MINE" 7" (SLUMBERLAND)
San Francisco's Brilliant Colors have staked out a unique spot in the indie music landscape. Inspired in equal parts by DIY post-punk fervor and the spiky pop of C86 and early Flying Nun / Creation label output, they hearken back to a time when the best tunes came out on 7-inch singles and weekends were spent digging through the stacks at your favorite local record shop. Their 2009 album, Introducing, is one of the finest debuts in recent memory, combining guitar buzz with dreamy melodies and rushing rhythms into some unlikely combination of The Dils and Shop Assistants. Now the band is back with their first new recordings since that great album, and boy, are they winners. "Never Mine" is two minutes of punk-pop perfection--singer/guitarist Jess Scott's spare riff underpinned by Diane Anastasio's steady thump and Michelle Hill's busy, melodic bassline. It's Brilliant Colors in a nutshell: crunchy garage punk played with total purposefulness, leavened by an instinctive pop sense. On the flip side, the pace picks up for "Kissing's Easy": all rolling snares and frantic guitar strum and Scott's echoey vocal sass. Like all the best classic punk tunes, it's over just a little too soon, leaving one no option but to turn over the record and play it all again. Recorded with DIY simplicity by Ty Segall, who knows a bit about garage pop himself, the minimal sound fits the band's tunes like a glove. This great single hones Brilliant Colors' spiky, angular crash-pop and points to a very interesting 2010 for the trio.  "Introducing Brilliant Colors is an impressive full-length debut." --LA Record

VIVIAN GIRLS "I CAN'T STAY" 7" (IN THE RED)
The latest release by Brooklyn's VIVIAN GIRLS has arrived in the form of this handsome two-song seven inch single featuring two incredible brand new songs exclusive to this release. By now their praises have been sung from Terminal Boredom to Pitchfork to the New York Times. This is one case where you can believe the hype—this is GREAT stuff.

CROW BAIT "THREE TICKLE GUYS" 7" (DIRT CULT)
"Crow Bait brings 2011 to a close with one of my favorite EPs of the year. With personnel from bands such as Iron Chic, Sister Kisser and Wax Phantom to name but a few, this conglomeration wastes no time in delivering five crisp tracks of melodic punk rock with the almost obligatory (albeit it less than some) gruff vocals ... There are moments that the guitar sounds almost Dinosaur Jr-esque with the odd well placed lead but the overwhelming positive for me is the driven nature of the music and how uplifting I find it. It’s had me bouncing up and down in my chair at work whilst I listen to the tracks over and over again eagerly awaiting the arrival of the actual vinyl version. That is what makes the record stand out above all else. Somehow Crow Bait has taken a highly popular sound and managed to breathe some life into it through the superiority of the songs and the enthusiasm in the delivery. For me that is quite a huge positive as I find much of what I hear far too generic these days, and it’s getting harder for any band to actually put that stupid grin on my face when it sounds like it’s almost a case of 'going through the motions.'" - punknews.org

RAD COMPANY "SOMEONE SHOULD BE FIRED" 7" (SMILING HANDSHAKE)
Dayton, Ohio's Rad Company are back with a new EP containing 3 gruff, Rust Belt-bred jams. Hungover, grimy punk that would fit well with bands on Newest Industry. Cover art by Ryan Gelatin. Hand-numbered.

RAD COMPANY "BOTTOM SHELF" 7" (TEAMHUMAN)
Gritty, unshaven punk that owes a lot to the reflection of the East Bay, the overwhelming futility of the Midwest, and the unapologeticness of the South. It’s aggressive and rough, unmistakably no-shore, DIY, pop-punk circa 2011.

RATIONS "HOW MUCH LAND DOES A MAN NEED" 7" (RAD GIRLFRIEND)
Five new songs in 10 minutes from Long Island, NY punkers. This is the follow up to 2010’s “For Victory” LP/CD. 7” Comes packaged in a 12 page booklet w/ artwork, lyrics, and information. First stuff with Tia from Fellow Project and ex-Bridge and Tunnel on bass. The release is split label cooperation among 10 US and international DIY labels. “How Much Land Does A Man Need?” was recorded by Ian Bryn (Fellow Project), mastered by Dan Randall at Mammouth Sound (Seein’ Red, Arctic Flowers, The Credentials), with art by Righteous Indignation.

EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING "SO MANY THINGS" 2XLP (GONER)
They’ve drawn comparisons to Wire, Can, The Fall, Fugazi and The Stooges. They have a singer who wears black gloves to overcome stage fright. They won the $30,000 Australian Music Prize for their 2008 album Primary Colours—then recorded the next one themselves in a few hours in their practice space and spent the dough on a photo shoot for the album cover. They do not care about you and your expectations. You could call them “fiercely independent” but they don’t seem fierce at all. Quietly, and definitely on their own terms, Eddy Current Suppression Ring has become a force in underground music. Now, after three albums, it’s time for a compilation of singles tracks, demos and other stuff they had lying round. Turns out there was lots to choose from—and even after trimming, they ended up with a double album. Goner Records is happy to provide So Many Things.

EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING "RUSH TO RELAX" LP (GONER)
When Eddy Current Suppression Ring formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003, bandmates Eddy Current, Rob Solid, Danny Current, and Brendan Suppression thought they would play a few shows and perhaps record a 7-inch or two. One of their first gigs, in fact, was an employee Christmas party at the record pressing plant where they worked. Six years later, the band has racked up accolades from the likes of SPIN Magazine, London's Guardian newspaper, and the Australian Independent Record Labels Association. In March of 2009, they were awarded the $30,000 Australian Music Prize for their second album, Primary Colours. Eddy Current's third full-length, Rush to Relax, is already one of the most anticipated releases of 2010. Cut last August in a six-hour session at Melbourne's Revolver Rehearsal Studios, the album combines stripped-down post-punk sensibilities with the sheer exhilaration of a four-man musical unit that has created its own language, and will never run out of new things to say.  While Primary Colours drew on what Guardian music critic Tom Hughes described as "fast 'n' fuzzy garage rock," Rush to Relax employs a pop ethos more common to the mid-'80s Dunedin Sound of New Zealand's Flying Nun label, with cascading guitar riffs and precise rhythms shadowing the introspective lyrics from black-gloved frontman Brendan Suppression. The geographical tug is most prevalent on "Anxiety," the new album's lead single, which is a guitar-driven homage to The Clean's whimsical, scene-launching debut "Tally-Ho," twisted via Eddy Current's inimitable style. The frantic pace of "Anxiety" is somewhat of an anomaly for Rush to Relax, a shape-shifter of an album that has already garnered comparisons to Television's 1977 landmark debut Marquee Moon. Like that classic group, Eddy Current Suppression Ring harnesses tension and propulsion to blast past the barriers of everyday tedium.

REATARDS "TEENAGE HATE" 2xLP (GONER)
Goner Records presents the deluxe reissue of Jay Reatard’s first full-length LP, with a bonus album of early tracks recorded on four-track and only released on cassettes. Some songs feature Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound, Oblivians) on drums! Teenage Hate / Fuck Elvis Here’s the Reatards offers a glimpse into the punk energy and rapidly developing raw talent of a teenage Reatard. The double-album features covers of Fear, The Dead Boys, Lil’ Bunnies, Buddy Holly, Johnny Vomit & The Dry Heaves... and The Beatles!  “Having seen Jay Reatard on the periphery of the leather-boy rock circuit a couple of years ago, I had gotten the impression that he was an arrogant shit. A real ‘Little Lord Punkleroy,’ he was. It seemed that the short path from aping the Oblivians in his bedroom to actually playing alongside of them had given him an undeserved license for haughtitude. Well, after hearing this release, I now grant him the right to be as shitty to me as he wants to be. He may ignore my ass around the club all night, because this record just spews aching beauty. It is easily the most blistering pizzunk to dribble down the leg of the raspy whore that is the ‘Memphis scene’ in a long while.   “The liner notes lack any trace of irony and spill more pubescent bile than a crippled maid cleaing up after one of Roman Polanski’s ‘hot tub ’n’ cognac’ parties. It all starts to make sense when you think of the Goner CEO’s fascination with the low-rent vitriol of The Jerry Springer Show. But this has truth, whereas Jerry has spectacle. The guests on the show—tanning bed lesbians and domestic abuse Olympians—all seem to reflect a bovine uniformity. The Reatards, while nipping from both the Oblivian and Wiper jugs, maintain a unique, strangled articulation. If ‘Ruckenraoul’ is remotely near the neighborhood of your daily thought processes, there is absolutely no reason not to rush out and get this… through three red lights, even.”

SPITS, THE "V" LP (IN THE RED)
Everyone’s favorite space-age mutant skate punks The Spits are back with their long-awaited fifth album (self-titled, as were the previous four) and these twelve new action-packed songs of apocalyptic, fuzzed-out, over-driven madness do not disappoint. Going strong now for over fifteen years, smashing the windows and tearing down the walls every time they roll through town, these truly vicious visionaries have cooked punk down to its most powerful base form, crawling like Neanderthals through the muck and creating a flaming trail of hits that’ll take quite a fit of dementia to ever forget. A perfect distillation of punk’s original open-ended weirdness and modern music’s serrated salvation, The Spits have proven themselves to be no one to fuck with, over and over again. True headliners, never to be followed and for good reason. One of the only modern bands to have several of their songs covered by their contemporaries, The Spits have already done so much but still have so much more ahead, as they continue to influence anyone with a penchant for irresistible punk music, played like there’s nothing to lose.

EXIT CONDITION "BITE DOWN HARD" LP (BOSS TUNAGE)
EXIT CONDITION were one of the finest UKHC bands from the late Eighties. “Bite Down hard/Impact Time” is the first of these releases, a 23 track LP retrospective taking in the bands recorded output of 1988 and 1989 . The album contains the original “Impact Time” demo from 1988 that led to the bands debut “Bite Down Hard” 7”EP released by Pusmort in 1989, plus six tracks recorded in 1988/1989 that appeared on various compilation LPs at the time – plus a track, “To The Rescue” that has remained criminally unreleased to this point. Limited to just 300 copies, red vinyl.

DEAD LANGUAGE "S/T" LP (IRON LUNG)
20 minutes of pure, ear-crippling power violence played by members of IRON LUNG, SOLUTIONS, WALLS, PIG HEART TRANSPLANT and NO COMMENT. There will never be another like this. Check and mate... P.V. R.I.P.

BRILLIANT COLORS "INTRODUCING" LP (SLUMBERLAND)
Singer / guitarist Jess Scott started Brilliant Colors in early 2007, and she's been mighty busy since then. After a steady stream of line-up changes, Scott has finally settled on a permanent line-up with the addition of East Coast transplants Diane Anastasio and Michelle Hill (a veteran of a number of Bay Area underground punk outfits, as well as touring guitarist for legendary UK punk / dub group The Slits!), in the meantime sharing bills with fellow Bay Area acts Nodzzz, Grass Widow, and Ty Segall and opening for the likes of The Urinals and The Homosexuals. Following up two sold-out singles (on Make a Mess and Captured Tracks) and mounting fervor from all corners of the pop underground blog-o-world, Brilliant Colors' debut album is as an undeniable contender for best pop record of 2009. Introducing, recorded in Portland, Oregon by Mississippi Records' Alex Yusimov, marks a great leap forward for Brilliant Colors. The band has honed their songwriting to a fine edge, delivering ten tracks of sharp, subtly catchy indie pop that finds them more assuredly rounding out the corners of their DIY-punk-meets-Shop Assistants, '78-'86 pop collision. Opener "I Searched," a fully formed pop classic, drifts through the speakers on the back a wistful, echoey vocal, while "Absolutely Anything" picks up the pace with a buzzing guitar attack and a chorus hook that would make Joey Ramone proud. The trio is at their best on "Over There" and "Yell in the Air," tunes emblematic of the perfect middle ground Scott has struck between the crunch and drive of punk and the spiky DIY melodicism of early Rough Trade and Flying Nun bands. Introducing is a sharp debut album packed with taut guitar buzz and dreamy melodies, neatly expanding on the promise of those in-demand 7-inch singles. Clocking in at barely twenty-four minutes, its focus and concision perfectly encapsulate where pop should be in 2009. Side-stepping all the indie pigeonholes, Brilliant Colors have produced a scrappy gem of a record.

HYSTERESE "S/T" LP (SEARCH FOR FAME)
Brand-new band from south-germany. their music is fast, catchy and absolutely great. male/female voices, sounds a little bit like bands like MASSHYSTERI,  GORILLA ANGREB...but with a hardcore-edge.

SNIFFING GLUE "S/T" LP (SEARCH FOR FAME)
Sniffing glue's third lp, great 80's hardcore like black flag meets jerry's kids meets circle jerks ect. , a musthave for every hc-kid!!!

BARRERACUDAS "NOCTURNAL MISSIONS" LP (DOUCHEMASTER)
Somewhere between The Heartbreakers (Petty) and The Heartbreakers (Thunders), Atlanta five-piece The Barreracudas find a shallow well of inspiration just deep enough to produce one of the biggest foot-tappers of the year.  Nocturnal Missions blends elements of dirty ’70s glam and the radio-friendliness of Dwight Twilley and Phil Seymour. The Barreracudas’ sound shouldn’t come as a great surprise as most of these guys have been playing with Gentleman Jesse and His Men for the past couple of years. There’s no Pulitzer-worthy poetry in the lyrics, but the hooks in these songs are more infectious than encephalitis. It’s even got a sweet cover of Cheap Trick’s “Come On, Come On.”

COLA FREAKS "S/T" LP (DOUCHEMASTER)
Denmark’s COLA FREAKS sound like a scheduled, perfectly executed panic attack, employing herky-jerky song structures and frequent direction changes while commanding total attention. The six-piece has released a series of impressive singles for which they’ve garnered comparisons to legendary European KBD-era bands of yore and the likes of Jay Reatard—indeed, Mr. Reatard recruited Cola Freaks members for his backing band in his final live lineup. Douchemaster is pleased to present the release of Cola Freaks’ self-titled debut LP. Featuring eleven tracks of quick, clean and nervous new wave / punk rock, the album is as scrupulous as it is frenzied and eerie.

MISSING MONUMENTS "PAINTED WHITE" LP (DOUCHEMASTER)
Royal Pendletons, Persuaders, Bad Times, Exploding Hearts, King Louie One Man Band, Kajun SS, Loose Diamonds, Black Rose Band and likely a dozen more. King Louie Bankston’s impressive résumé has the tendency to make regular folk feel unproductive. Now, he adds Missing Monuments to the list. Painted White, the group’s debut full-length, is a testament to King Louie’s ability to master just about any style outside of rap. The album is clean, jangly, full of hooks and Bankston’s signature coarse melodies. Covering all the necessary bases, it’s got rock ’n’ roll jams, ballads, a noodley track showcasing guitarist Julian Fried’s guitar skills, and fan favorite “(It’s Like) XTC,” a song that sounds so much like The Raspberries one might wonder if it’s an obscure cover.  While many are familiar with the King Louie on stage and the King Louie that parties your town to smithereens after his set, Painted White shows King Louie as the hardest working and most talented songwriter around.

CORMANS, THEE "HALLOWEEN RECORD" LP (IN THE RED)
Fiends! Ghouls! Creeps! In the grand tradition of Frankie Stein and His Ghouls and The Deadly Ones, Thee Cormans present Halloween Record w/ Special Effects—a bona fide Halloween rock ’n’ roll album just in time for the only holiday that matters.  The Southern Californian biker / surf instrumental combo has been bashing out their brand of Davie-Allan-and-the-Arrows-meets-The-Ventures-on-meth thrash for several years now. Theirs is a sound informed by scratched-up ’60s instrumental records, KBD punk singles and exploitation B-movies chock full of monsters, bikers and mayhem. What this group of weirdos does to the surf instrumental genre is the same as what The Mummies did to Pacific Northwest ’60s rock back in the ’90s—they speed it up, drag it through the mud, pour a can of politically incorrect attitude over the top and call it a pie. In this case, the pie is filled with rubber bats, plastic fangs and novelty shrunken heads. Halloween Record w/ Special Effects will make you shriek, rattle and roll! These are spine-chilling sounds guaranteed to make you shiver. Flesh-ripping guitar playing! Skull-pulverizing drum beats! Gore-spattering bass lines! Spooky, hair-raising sound effects! The bloody horror of this record is positively sinister. You will hate yourself if you miss it! In The Red is not legally responsible for death caused by heart failure or fright as a result of listening to Halloween Record w/ Special Effects. In other words, this record is not for sissies.

DAVILA 666 "TAN BAJO" LP (IN THE RED)
Hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Davila 666 plays fierce Spanish-language garage-pop with gang vocals, tambourines, pop hooks, guitar licks and even a touch of psych here and there. Elements of early Stones, Jesus and the Mary Chain, Dead Boys and ’60s girl groups are all evident in Davila’s sound. Since their 2008 self-titled debut album, they’ve released a slew of singles and EPs on labels like HoZac, Rob’s House and Douchemaster. The album even received a coveted cassette release on Burger, a garage rock signal that “they’ve arrived” if ever there was one. Davila 666 toured the US on a mammoth three-month trek that would’ve made Black Flag weary, as well as completed a massive slog across Europe. As soon as they began recording tracks for their much anticipated follow-up, Tan Bajo, which means “so low,” the band realized the sounds they were making were darker and more psychedelic than their previous output. Though it retains the pop and rock ’n’ roll one would expect, Tan Bajo is Davila 666’s most cohesive release to date. With a team that includes In The Red, Creature Booking, Force Field PR and Vice management backing them, these Puerto Ricans are poised to turn the indie rock world on its ear. “... one of the best bands at SXSW. Period.” —The Fader “This six-man combo generates a monolithic wall of sound, and if this isn’t as frantic as some of their contemporaries in the United States, Davila 666’s better-than-average chops, potent swagger, and thorough knowledge of the cooler chapter of rock ’n’ roll history more than compensate.” —Allmusic.com “Since picking up Davila’s debut disc, I’ve refused to put it back down. On their US debut, these triple-sixers filter three decades of scuffed-up leather jackets through the Spanish-language translator. Disparate patches of Radio Birdman, The Dead Boys and rudimentary jangle pop are all threaded onto the album, the charms of which are multiplied by the fact that Davila 666 sounds like it was recorded live at a basement birthday party.” —SF Weekly

DAVILA 666 "S/T" LP (IN THE RED)
Hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Davila 666 is one of the biggest rock 'n' roll attractions in the country. Over the past two years, they have amassed a large local following and their shows have a reputation as must-see spectaculars. A Davila 666 set functions almost like a theatrical event, as the band presents a thematic environment in which viewers are called to interact with props and exotic dancers. According to singer Carlitos, "Davila is a living homage to the sex, drugs, and good times of rock 'n' roll we all idolize." Their sound is the combination of obvious rock 'n' roll classics like the Stones, Stooges, Velvets, and Dolls, along with less likely influences such as Mazzy Star, Li'l Wayne, and Plan B. "We are like Menudo (the group--not the soup) on lots of drugs," says Carlitos.  Davila 666, whose name combines references to a notorious Bayomon city slum with the number of the beast, recently toured the West Coast, where they made fans in every town they played and alliances with like-minded bands such as The Spits, Black Lips, and The King Khan & BBQ Show. All of their songs are sung in their native Spanish but that doesn't stop English-speaking audiences from dancing on tables and going crazy at their shows.  Davila 666 is smart, sarcastic, and aggressive--as all young bands should be.

GIRLS AT DAWN "S/T" 12" EP (CAPTURED TRACKS)
Right on the the heels of their debut 7-inch on HoZac comes this four-song 12-inch EP. Drawing from post-punk, psychedelic and ‘60s pop influences, these three girls from Brooklyn make haunting melodies bridged with there/not-there ghostly arrangements.

MUMMIES, THE "PLAY THEIR OWN RECORDS" LP (ESTRUS)
BACK IN PRINT!!! After long years in remission, THE MUMMIES’ Play Their Own Records is back in circulation. Relive those lazy hazy crazy days of the twilight years of the last century, or experience them for the very first time through the technological deviltry of reproducing sound by physically (yes, physically!) dragging a needle down a rut cut into a piece of plastic! Amazing! Marvel at the spiritual bond you will share with The Mummies themselves, as you listen to the strains of their first four singles (including five tracks you won’t find on CD) together.

DESCENDENTS "COOL TO BE YOU" LP (FAT WRECK)
With the new year comes good news, in the form of a new DESCENDENTS full length! Originally formed as a three-piece, the then boys, got the idea that adding a singer to the mix would be a good plan. History was made when the trio recruited the brainy and bespectacled frontman Milo Aukerman and the band released their breakthrough EP entitled Fat. What goes around comes around and 2004 found the Descendents releasing their latest full length, Cool To Be You on FAT! Since their inception, the fellas have all worked on different side projects, most of them musical, however latecomer and frontman Milo has long been hard at work in the world of academia, finally ending up employed as a Scientist! Lucky for punk rock fans Milo has traded in his microscope for the microphone and the punk scene can expect a triumphant return from the DESCENDENTS. Cool To Be You is 14 new songs that will undoubtedly wet the appetite of the starving scene, and is easily superior to their most recent and most commercially successful release: 1996's Everything Sucks.

BGK "A DUTCH FEAST" 2XLP (ALTERNATIVE TENTACLES)
B.G.K., or Balthasar Gerards Kommando were a 1980s Dutch punk band. The band were named after a Dutch historical figure named Balthasar Gerards, who assassinated the king of the Netherlands in 1584. Balthasar Gerards Kommando were formed in the early 1980s by members of Amsterdam punk band The Nitwitz. Rejecting the then-popular trend to emulate British Oi bands, BGK took their musical cues from American hardcore bands such as MDC, and soon developed an ultrafast style of their own. The band was also committed to following through with its leftist political stance, both in terms of the punk scene (the band set up DIY shows with low door prices, and put out affordable records on their own label) and in a wider political spectrum (they often played benefits for various causes, and helped run the Emma squat in Holland). A Dutch Feast...The Complete Recorded Works of Balthasar Gerards Kommando collects everything the Amsterdam hardcore band B.G.K. recorded, including the LPs Jonestown Aloha (1983) and Nothing Can Go Wrong (1986), the contents of the 7" single "White Male Dumbinance," a previously unreleased alternate version of "Arms Race," and a few songs the band contributed to compilations.

CLASH, THE "S/T" LP (DRASTIC PLASTIC)
The Clash, the self-titled debut by one of the most influential acts of the 20th century, and the best selling import record of all time, is finally available for the first time as an official U.S. release. With the original British track list, this release was produced from the original masters for Drastic Plastic Records by Sony Records. It has been painstakingly reproduced as a beautiful 180-gram version for collectors and casual listeners alike. In 2003 Mojo referred to The Clash as “the ultimate punk protest album. Searingly evocative of dreary late ‘70s Britain, but still timelessly inspiring.” Need we say more?

PEER PRECIOUS "BLESS THIS MESS" LP (DIRT CULT)
I’m here to report that great DIY punk bands still spring up every now and again and Peer Precious is one of them. Mike Wilson (guitarist/vocalist whose spent time in bands like The Hard Feeling and Nordic Waste…not to mention filling in on tour for bands like Dead Dog and Chin Up Meriwether and roadying for the likes of Tulsa, Uh-Oh, and probably a dozen more) sent me these songs a few months ago. It only took me one listen to give him a call to ask to put this record out. Heartfelt punk rock that brings to mind Hickey, Onion Flavored Rings, Hello Shitty People, and The Stun Guns…pick up this LP. You won’t be disappointed!

RAD COMPANY / EX BOYFRIENDS "HOLD MY GLASSES" LP (RAD GIRLFRIEND)
The new split LP from Dayton, Ohio's Rad Company and the debut of Mcallen Texas' The Ex-Boyfriends.  This records rules. Pop punk with a twist of Thrashpop up your ass. Beautiful artwork and 11 tracks of fast, catchy punk rock. Best stuff to date from Rad Company and a hell of a start for The Ex-Boyfriends.

COPS - DEMO TAPE (SCAVENGER OF DEATH)
"COPS have a new demo tape floating around (via Scavenger of Death) that blasts four original numbers plus a cover of Christian Death’s “Spiritual Cramp,” which appears here as “Spiritual Cramps” (plural). There’s also a riff missing from their slapdash run through the song, giving it a manic, impulsive feel.  That jagged sense of spontaneity is precisely what sets COPS’ contemptuous, raw punk aesthetic apart from Gentleman Jesse’s more recent M.O. Backed by a rhythm section of Greg "GG" King (drums) and Ryan Bell a.k.a. Ryan Dinosaur of Bukake Boys (bass), Jesse Smith’s voice and guitar lash out with uncharacteristic aggression, and it’s refreshing in a cathartic, better-listening-through-pain sort of exercise. The clear, but home-recorded quality of the tape gives each song a motorik and unrefined edge that facilitates a specific, confrontational sound that's coming together here. They haven't quite fleshed out the true power of what they're crafting, but they're on the right track. And, after all, this is just a demo tape — a teaser for a more focused 7-inch that's due out via Rob’s House Records later this year or early in 2012." - clatl.com
