New Webstore Titles for 12/4/15:

MOMMY "S/T" 7" (Toxic State Records)
Mommy are undoubtedly one of the most difficult bands to stylistically pin down within the contemporary NYC hardcore punk scene. Still, with their demo from earlier in the year and their intense live show, we knew they would be a force to be reckoned with and their debut 7" on Toxic State more than proves this. Standing far and above the demo in recording, songwriting, and performance, this is one of the strangest, wildest, and (oddly enough) emotionally revealing records to come out this year. As always, the packaging, much like the music of Mommy, is strangely beautiful. Essential.

POWER "Electric Glitter Boogie" LP
(Cool Death Records)
Brilliant debut LP from the hard rocking Australian trio that is POWER. Since releasing a two song demo last year, POWER hit the Melbourne scene with a fury, tightening the screws on their raucous brand of rock'n'roll fury. Electric Glitter Boogie captures POWER at the top of their game, a fast and loose machine running through eight cuts of dynamic hard rock that has garnered comparison to the legendary COLOURED BALLS. This recording captures the intensity and confidence that few modern bands possess and even fewer can exhibit to such effect. Call it hard rock, call it punk, the fact remains that Electric Glitter Boogie is truly something original and worth your ear. This is Australian rock'n'roll delivered with true raw POWER. Mastered by Mikey Young (ECSR, TOTAL CONTROL) for maximum effect and packaged in deluxe snakeskin-embossed gatefold jackets.

CROW "Who Killed Dove?" 7" (Fanclub Pressing)
Spot on fanclub repro of this 80's Japanese ripper!

YOUTH BRIGADE "Complete First Demo" 7" (Dischord Records)
When The Teen Idles and The Untouchables split up in 1980, singer Nathan Strejcek and drummer Danny Ingram – two of the first punk kids at Wilson High – formed a new band, Youth Brigade. The duo played with a few different bass and guitar players before settling on Bert Queiroz (also of The Untouchables) and Tom Clinton to complete the lineup. Complete First Demo collects eight songs that Youth Brigade recorded with Don Zientara and Skip Groff in the summer of 1981 during its first recording session. “I Object” appeared on the 20 Years of Dischord box set and “Last Word” was included on Flex Your Head. All other material is previously unreleased.

CONDITION "Actual Hell" LP
(Iron Lung Records)
Big as a pig and vicious as hell. The torturous maelstrom sounds of bone breaks and thuggish isolationism. Howling feedback underscores the massive swirling riffs and relentless battery of drums. Foul, tumultuous vocals made entirely of the final exhalations of humanity really send this opus to the apex. A perfect band. For those unfamiliar, CØNDITIØN are a raging south Californian corpse-beat unit more akin to the likes of BASTARD than DISCHARGE. Fucking heavy. We couldn't be more excited about this LP. 800 copies on black vinyl come housed in a heavy duty tip-on jacket featuring art by Matthew Adis complimented nicely by a 24x36 poster insert with art by Abe Social & Madison East.

SACRILEGE "Behind the Realms of Madness" 2xLP (Relapse Records)
Relapse is honored to present the first ever fully authorized reissue of the legendary UK band Sacrilege's landmark debut 'Behind The Realms Of Madness'.  Originally released in 1985, Sacrilege were one of the first bands of the 80s that both punks and metalheads rallied behind.  Propelled by singer Lynda 'Tam' Simpson's ferocious vocals and polticically charged lyrics, 'Behind The Realms of Madness' blended crust, thrash, hardcore, doom and death-metal to create a timeless album that has directly influenced scores of punks and heshers alike.  Now fully remastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Hooded Menace, Obituary) with SEVEN previously unreleased bonus tracks and expanded art and liner notes!

DIAT "Positive Energy" LP (Iron Lung Records)
The long awaited debut full length has finally arrived. And the wait was well worth it. Diät have worked, worked and reworked these 8 songs until they were perfect. Who is this band you ask? Let us introduce you:  "Brought together by a shared enthusiasm for bleak UK punk and a history of playing in hardcore bands, Berlin based DIÄT have created a sound that they have described, perhaps not entirely seriously, as ‘tough new wave’. Fans of Crisis, Killing Joke and The Mob (UK) should be pleased by the band’s unlikely synthesis of depressive drift and cranked, accelerated energy. ‘Positive Energy’ was recorded last Winter while huddled in a practice space overlooking the industrial landscape of frozen East Berlin, the album finds Diät reining in the threads of malignant enthusiasm still peppered throughout their earlier recordings (both 7"s previously released on this fine imprint) to focus on the cynicism and dejectedness that binds them as a band." Packaged in a high quality reverse board jacket with a 12 page lyric booklet only available in this version of the LP. All copies on black vinyl. The download comes with the "Hurricane" video as well.

MODERNS, THE "Year of Today" 7"
(Hosehead Records)
Originally self released by the band in 1979, the debut EP by Sweden’s The Moderns is available and in print in North America for the first time ever. Immortalized on a slew of mod revival and power pop comps including landing the cover of Power Pearls Volume 2, The Moderns’ EP has become an undeniable collector’s prize record. Fetching $500+ USD when it does show up for sale, the original 500 copies self released by the band in Sweden has turned this power pop masterpiece into an obscure, unknown hit. Barely cracking the 9-minute mark, this four-song 7” features one of the all time greatest power pop songs, “Got To Have Pop”, a song that still infects today, more than 35 years later. The success of this EP in Sweden landed them a major label deal with Parlophone, which saw the release of their sole Swedish-language record in 1981, after which they quickly faded.

BLACK PANTIES "Future" 7" (Windian Records)
I assume i'll be coming back here and editing this to say something polite/pr friendly about this release, but right now i'm too deep on a binge, so fuck all that noise. This is one of the best 7" windian has put out this year, and is based on pure hatred stemming from the blood of a man that neither has nor wants friends, only enemies black has wasted time backing up lumpy from the dumpsters and other yada yadas, and this'll be his longest and strongest release yet. Pure piss and aggression, ltd to 500 copies w/ art by mac blackout...

MUFF DIVERS "No Muff Too Tuff" 7"
(Lumpy Records)
Beefy drum-machine-fueled punk with hooks, could it be the new Coneheads? The new Dickies? The new Jay Reatard? WE SHALL SEE!

Q "S/T" 7" (Lumpy Records)
Closest thing to a Dbeat band St Louis has ever had.

GIBBOUS "Mortal Crust" 7" (Lumpy Records)
Genius boy Gib from many stl bands you love playing warped space punk all by himself. Brilliant. Hand stamped covers.

LIFE "Violence, Peace, and Peace Research" LP (Desolate Records)
US pressing of the amazing 2013 full length from these Tokyo punk bastard masters. 22 tracks ranging from raw punk to classic UK crust.

DISENGAGE "S/T" 7" (Youngblood Records)
Youngblood Records is extremely proud to bring you the latest EP from Disengage. Six songs of absolutely raging hardcore from this Wilkes-Barre. PA straight edge band. For fans of Youth Of Today, Bold, Title Fight, Cold War and Stick Together.

NUCLEAR AGE "The Distinct Sounds of ..." 7" (React! Records)
It was a cold April night the first time I saw Nuclear Age. These Washingtonians took the stage with such intensity, such fire that I fell to my knees in excitement. The Distinct Sound of Nuclear Age can only be surmised as Youth encapsulated on vinyl. The fear, frustration and fury can be felt but the overall message that these 5 want you to dig is this: Hope. Nuclear Age sells hope in a hopeless time. You may look at yourself in the mirror and see only the devil. Look closer. Nuclear Age demands you see hope. See. Hear. Look. Listen. And when, for those lucky few, you experience the band live you will also realize that Nuclear Age demands your soul.

CIVIC DUTY Demo Tape
(Suburban Fight Records)
Three songs from this DC/OC straight edge hybrid. Nothing but Confront and Brotherhood worship on this tape but really what else would you want. Featuring current members of Fury, Red Death, Pure Disgust, Protester, Hard Stripes, Response and about 100 other bands.

CLEAR "Youth to Youth Promo 2015" Tape (Mosher's Delight Records)
Alright, you've heard about CLEAR's upcoming LP for some time, and you're just as excited about it as us, right? Now it's finally coming to fruition, with 2 brand new, bad ass tracks and a sick cover to tide us over until the formal release on Triple B Records. If you're searching for hidden metaphors, you'll need to look elsewhere because this is pissed-off straight edge hardcore for the common man in its purest, stripped down form - exactly the way we like it at MDR.

STAND OFF "Mosher's Delight Live Series" Tape (Mosher's Delight Records)
Side A contains a live STAND OFF set from Washington DC 9/26/15, side B contains an Audio interview.

PROTESTER "Mosher's Delight Live Series" Tape (Mosher's Delight Records)
Side A contains a live PROTESTER set from Washington DC 9/26/15, side B contains an Audio interview.

MIGHT "… is Right" Tape (Mosher's Delight Records)
After carefully studying Rev #1-10, Skiz #1-4, Step Forward #3, and Hi-Impact #1 comes an entity that presents itself at this point in time, right NOW. Raw, unabashed, insightful energy from Houston, Texas surely to put the X back on the map with an unadulterated late 80s vibin' straight edge hardcore demo.

CORRECTIVE MEASURE Demo Tape
(Demo)
Brand new hardcore band out of Maine that delivers 4 short-and-sweet straight edge anthems and a cover by everyone's favorite NYHC band.

NIGHT SHANK Demo Tape (Demo)
Brand new HC from Richmond, VA featuring members of BARGE.

NOSEBLEED Demo Tape (Demo)
New ripper from Richmond!

BLISTERED "The Poison of Self Confinement" LP (6133 Records)
Picking up the torch of Florida's unique brand of metallic hardcore, Blistered have raged to the forefront of today's scene with incredible fervor. Their songs simultaneously feel unearthed from some '90s time capsule and surprisingly current, perfectly capturing a balance of influences and innovations. Following their critically acclaimed Soul Erosion EP (April 2014 on 6131 Records) and extensive touring, Blistered began plotting what would become their first proper full length. Entitled The Poison of Self Confinement and masterfully recorded by Kevin Bernsten (Red Death, Noisem, Pulling Teeth, Mindset), the album demonstrates an even more honed songwriting prowess. The result is an album that lives up to the band's moniker, delivering break-neck metal-infused riffage matched with pummeling breakdowns. Blistered have created a vital release that defies easy classification, appealing to both sides of the metal / hardcore sounds from which they draw.

BLISTERED "Soul Erosion" LP (6132 Records)
Picking up the torch of Florida's unique brand of metallic hardcore, Blistered has crafted an awe-inspiring new EP, "Soul Erosion." Mixed by Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Tragedy, Modern Life Is War), these five songs simultaneously feel unearthed from some '90s time capsule and surprisingly current. This knack for songwriting, matched with their incredible live shows, makes it no surprise Blistered is quickly becoming one of the most popular, up-and-coming hardcore bands.

HANDSOME "S/T" LP (6131 Records)
It's with an unbelievable amount of excitement that 6131 Records is releasing the long out-of-print and often overlooked self-titled album by Handsome, originally released by Epic Records in 1997 only on CD. This monolith of a full-length never quite made the lasting impression of some of the members' other projects, yet has stood the test of time - proving it's deserving of such acclaim. For those previously unfamiliar with the group (some might even say "supergroup") the members of Handsome were: Jeremy Chatelain (Jets To Brazil, Iceburn, Cub Country), Tom Capone (Quicksand, Bold, Beyond), Peter Mengede (Helmet), Pete Hines (Cro-Mags, Murphy's Law) and Eddie Nappi (Mark Lanegan Band).

SHADOW AGE "Silaluk" 7" (6131 Records)
Shadow Age have emerged from Richmond, Virginia, playing cold, darkly melodic post-punk, and offering an astoundingly cohesive debut EP that owes more to the sounds of Manchester’s industrial sprawl than Richmond’s southern charms. While Shadow Age are certainly indebted to the UK post-punk classics, the band’s debut release originates from an even more unlikely place than where they call home. While spending a harsh winter working on a fishing boat in Alaska, singer/guitarst Aaron Tyree was injured. He then spent four harrowing days waiting out an ice storm so that he could be flown out of Dutch Harbor for medial attention. During this time Tyree wrote the title track of Shadow Age's debut EP, Silaluk. Taking it’s name from the Inuit word for storm, Silaluk is three uncompromisingly dark tracks that swallow the listener in shimmering guitars, pulsating synths, and haunting vocals. Tyree’s affecting voice paints a desperate picture that is perfectly layered amongst the sheets of reverb and angular guitar lines. Shadow Age offer more than just intense atmosphere, though. The band is adept at crafting a hook and despite the EP's brooding tone, some of the driving beats found on Silaluk are arguably danceable. With disparate influences converge with stunning cohesion, Silaluk is an impressive debut that hints at Shadow Age’s potential.

CULTURE ABUSE "Spray Paint the Dog" 7" (6131 Records)
San Francisco Bay area band Culture Abuse are a wild pack of animals that have been stirring things up along the West Coast since Fall 2013. Their amalgamation of hardcore / punk with an almost psychedelic rock vibe is unlike anything ever heard before, feeling both vitally important and on the brink of disaster all at once. Recorded in the Fall of 2014 at Nu-Tone Studios (Iggy Pop, Green Day, Against Me!), the songs on Spray Paint The Dog, “Nicotine” and “Perfect Light”, demonstrate their ever-evolving style, moving deeper into a pop-driven aesthetic. Culture Abuse are channeling the drugged-out, melodic sounds the Bay area delivered in the late ’60s, yet are still remarkably refreshing.

PAPER TRAIL / IRON BORN Split 7"
(Wrong Ones Records)
Split 7" from Virginia's PAPER TRAIL and Oklahoma's IRON BORN. 100% Hardand heavy pit action.

NUTS #17 Zine (Nuts)
DX writes about the New York City feeling. Alex Simon interviews Ellie from GOOD THROB. Mark Winter, the songwriter behind CONEHEADS, CCTV, BIG ZIT, and OOZE, is interviewed. Mateo from DAWN OF HUMANS writes about his fav records he got when he was on tour in Europe. Artwork by Cecilia Caldera and Sam Ryser.

MAXIMUMROCKNROLL #391 - Dec. 2015
(MRR)
It’s time for Maximum Rocknroll #391, the December 2015 issue of punk’s longest continuously running fanzine! This one is loaded. In these pages you will find what may be the most in-depth correspondence with the MINNEAPOLIS URANIUM CLUB BAND you’ll find anywhere—their parent company and attorneys are notoriously cagey, so read here for more on this Midwestern rock group, their origins, and their sponsors. We’ve also got interviews with Finnish hardcore lifers SA-INT, Alabama antagonist GARY WRONG, the minds behind the radical and labyrinthine Texas hardcore of SIN MOTIVO, the jagged noiseniks of Oakland’s MANSION, and outsider San Francisco hardcore punks TSA. There’s even more! For our first ever interview with any Cuban band in these pages we sat down with ADICTOX and ARRABIO during their Canadian tour, and capping it all off is an incredible interview with Zoë Dodd, Toronto harm reduction worker, activist, and punk. Also included: a scene report from Andalusia as well as photo spreads from Not Dead Yet 2015 and All Punks Go For It, a raw punk rager in the heart of California’s Central Valley. All your favorite columnists are here too, along with punk’s most comprehensive and unsparing reviews section.

WEBSTORE UPDATE: New NIGHT BIRDS, WILDHONEY, BEACH SLANG, BLACK PANTIES, Demos, and More!

GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS AND MAILORDER
Webstore Update / 11.12.15

The year is winding down but the great new releases keep on coming! Still not much to report on the label front just yet, but you'll get a pretty decent update before the year is up so keep your eyes peeled for that! Planning my Black Friday action now too so that's something to look forward to as well.

Let's get right into this week's update …

First up is the latest LP from NJ's own (and Grave Mistake alumns) NIGHT BIRDS!  This new record is KILLER! Mutiny at Muscle Beach is everything you've come to expect from these Jersey boys, cranked up to 20. I think that this might be my favorite Night Birds release yet! Definitely check this record out - Night Birds are a band that only get better and better, and a powerful third LP can be an arduous task for most punk bands, yet they seem to pull it off effortlessly.

Two more LPs I'm extremely stoked about in this update are the Your Face Sideways 12" from Baltimore's WILDHONEY and the debut LP, The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us, from Philadelphia's BEACH SLANG. Both bands have been on constant rotation here at GMHQ since their EPs, so it's great to see new material from these bands and these new releases do not disappoint one bit. Wildhoney picks up right where their debut LP on Deranged left off, and the Beach Slang full length is warmly welcomed after two incredible EPs.

Grabbed all three PROMISE RING reissues from Jade Tree - one of the best indie/"emo" bands from the late 90's and these LPs definitely deserve the reissue treatment.   I also picked up a few other assorted odds and ends releases that I've really been digging over the past year or so - like the AYE NAKO The Blackest Eye 12", the debut LP from Toronto's ALVVAYS, the FIELD MOUSE Hold Still Life LP, all three PEACH KELLI POP LPs. All great stuff that's highly recommended!

I was able to get my hands on a few copies of the BLACK PANTIES and PATSY 7" on Total Punk, which are already both sold out from the label so act fast if you've been meaning to pick up copies! I also finally picked up the latest GOLDEN PELICANS LP from Florida's Dying, as well as restocked their first LP; Picked up a few copies of the EP reissue from 70's Belgian rippers STAGEBEAST, a brand new repressing of the classic BATTALION OF SAINTS Second Coming LP, and a few copies of the BIKINI KILL Revolution Girl Style Now LP that was released not too long ago, as well as restocks on some other essential Bikini Kill vinyl.

Some great demos in this update worth checking out - the 2nd demo (and first on tape) from DC/RVA's I.C.E. - sick, hard-as-nails-dancefloor-violence-inducing hardcore featuring members of Red Death and Pure Disgust; the LINE OF SIGHT demo - new DC hi impact posi-core featuring members of Mindset, Barge, Red Death, and Protester; the ODD MAN OUT Demo 7" - six tracks of hard pittin straightedge from Olympia / Seattle; the BLANK BODIES demo - new D-Beat/Scandi-Hc out of Denver. I also picked up a ton of tapes from Voices From Inside records from the Ukraine! This label has been doing tape pressings and reissues of a lot of your favorite US bands' (as well as a few awesome non-US bands') demo tapes and EPs, and I was able to import a few copies of each (these quantities are VERY limited though). So, if you missed getting tape versions of releases from bands like Savageheads, Bloodkrow Butcher, Die, WKSJ?, Koward, or Eel (to name a few), then check these out!

Finally, a few restocks of note - the Tenement Predatory Headlights 2xLP is back in stock (in case you've been slacking), the Protester No Identity 7", the Absolut / Paranoid split LP, and a ton of Dischord titles back in the store including the Faith/Void split, SOA demo 7", Embrace LP, Egg Hunt 7", Artificial Peace reissue LP, Marginal Man LP, Rites of Spring LP, and Teen Idles demo 7".

That's it for this update, thanks for reading!

New Titles in the Webstore for November 12, 2015:

NIGHT BIRDS "Mutiny at Muscle Beach" LP (Fat Wreck Chords)
In 2009 NIGHT BIRDS resuscitated the surf-inspired 80’s hardcore sound and have been cranking it to a new level ever since. Mutiny at Muscle Beach, the band’s third full-length and first on Fat Wreck Chords, is an unrepentantly raw blast of punk rock that evokes the spirit of Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Germs, D.I., and Circle Jerks. The 12 tracks are further developed with NIGHT BIRDS’ integration of modern influences, a referential aesthetic, and a healthy dose of passionate innovation. From “(I’m) Wired” to “In the Red/In the Black” to the title track, Mutiny at Muscle Beach brims with an epileptic energy that defies the listener to sit still. Just like NIGHT BIRDS’ live show, this album is an unbridled onslaught of throwback-meets-modern hardcore that never stops to take a breath.

BEACH SLANG "The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us" LP (Polyvinyl Records)
Over the past two years Beach Slang have proved themselves as a band who can write memorable songs, share that energy live and create a community of like-minded fans but they've always been missing one important element: An album. Luckily the band's full-length The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us is the culmination of their collective career and picks up where their two critically acclaimed 7-inches, 2014's Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street and Who Would Ever Want Something So Broken? left off. The feelings of youth and vulnerability lie at the core of Beach Slang's music, which is part punk, part pop and all catharsis. It references the ghosts of the Replacements but keeps one foot firmly rooted in the present. It's fun and it's serious. It's sad but it isn't. It's Beach Slang. While The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us further expands on Beach Slang's unique sound, it also showcases their sonic diversity. From the shoegazing sheen of "Noisy Heaven" to the downbeat dreaminess of "Porno Love" and refracted rage of "Young & Alive," the album is a fuzzed-out masterpiece that takes influence from the past while staying rooted in the present.

WILDHONEY "Your Face Sideways" LP (Topshelf Records)
Wildhoney chooses to use songwriting and melody as primary vehicles on their pop excursions, a traditional approach they first proposed on Sleep Through It and wholly celebrate on Your Face Sideways. The five songs on Side A of the EP were recorded at Marlborough Farms by New York pop legend Gary Olson (Jens Lekman, Crystal Stilts, Frankie Rose, Literature, Architecture in Helsinki), and are steered by Shusterich's vocals. Like a sculptor, Shusterich molds her voice to carry sweet melodies against uptempo instrumentation, poetically exploring loss and depression through her lyrics. The long, slower composition "FSA II" comprises the entirety of Side B, expanding on what was explored in "FSA" from Sleep Through It. Recorded directly to tape by Jordan Romero in his Baltimore bedroom, the track uses sparse repetition, minimal guitar, glockenspiel, flute, synths, and field recordings to remind the listener that while noise and effects may come and go, Wildhoney holds a map to pop magic—taking the alternate routes, guided by heart and mind.

BLACK PANTIES "Prophet of Hate" 7" (Total Punk Records)
Following a debut single on Lumpy Records and coinciding with a brand new 7” on Windian, Total Punk’s got a brand new hit single on their hands from St. Louis’s, black masked crybaby jerk master, Black Panties.  “Prophet of Hate” is a three and half minute plodding, feedback laden, punk punisher covered in scraping guitar, reverb soaked vocals and all means of obnoxiousness. The b side is a blown out ode to Violence.  Violence and hate!  Black Panties definitely knows the way to our heart and is 100% TOTAL PUNK!

PATSY "Tuley Tude High" 7" (Total Punk Records)
Debut single from New Orleans/ Chicago punk outfit Patsy.  Patsy features members of Mystic Inane, but the connection ends there.  Nothing “mutant” about this.  Two tracks of  straight ahead rumbling punk rock highlighted by Candice’s Darby style drawn out growls and killer vocal hooks. Look for another single on Total Punk later this year. All killer no filler 100% TOTAL PUNK!

STAGEBEAST "Belgium Ain't No Fun Anymore" 7" (Belgian Waffles Records)
Stagebeast was a band from the north coast ( our only coast ahah ) of Belgium. Ostende , the ferry town which took all the Belgian punks to the punk Mecca of London, to be exact.  So it's no surprise that shitty holiday's "sun-hole" became the birthplace for one of the very first punk 7"s , a 7" that was more a legacy than a starting point. Stagebeast started beating the bars and other anonymous places in late 76 , but didn't record their sole 7" till late 77.  A short story much like Sex Pistols , signed with a label, destroyed the manager's office like good fucked-up punks , and were then banned. It became difficult for them to find dates, so Willy Willy, cwho was thinking about a real career as a musician leaves the band, the split is inevitable . Willy joined the Scabs who will take a "colder" direction , Frank Dubbe and his Ostende's contingent  soon form Revenge 88 ,a wavy punk sound perfect for the desperate early 80's and his numbers of dead.. and Stagebeast becomes another bookmark in punk history. Now lovingly reissued by Belgian Waffles in nearly identical color cardboard sleeves. Turn this beast up and annoy your neighbors.

BIKINI KILL "Revolution Girl Style Now" LP (Bikini Kill Records)
Originally released in May of 1991, Revolution Girl Style Now was Bikini Kill's first demo. For this reissue, the songs have been remixed by Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) and remastered by John Golden. This version also features three previously unreleased tracks: "Ocean Song," "Just Once," and "Playground

BATTALION OF SAINTS "Second Coming" LP
(Nutrons Records)
Newly reissued version of Battalion of Saints' classic LP, done by the band on their original Nutrons label. The Battalion of Saints are one of the more hard core punk bands from there time. Starting in 1980 out of San Diego, their songs were nonstop blasts of adrenaline and raw power. The Batts were one of the most furious and nihilistic bands that were ahead of there time. In 5 years the band accomplished unforgettable performance's leaving a deep impression and influence on the punk rock scene.

ODD MAN OUT "S/T" 7" (Warthog Speak Records)

BLANK BODIES Demo Tape
Four dummies from Denver who accidentally discovered the secret for writing Swedish riffs with American hooks. This seriously sounds like if ANTI-CIMEX was as obsessed with SSD as they were DISCHARGE. Four idiot anthems and a MECHT MENSCH cover. (Jade Tree Records)

An inspiring collection of 12 poetic arrangements, the album is overflowing with soaring energy and enough hooks on which to hang the entire football team's varsity jackets. Now available again on vinyl. LP includes free MP3 download of album.

GOLDEN PELICANS "Oldest Ride, Longest Line" LP (Florida's Dying Records)
After making a run at the heavyweight championship of the punk rock world with their debut long player back in 2014, the Golden Pelicans are back with a new 12” -- and this time they’re determined to take the belt back to Orlando. On “Oldest Ride, Longest Line” the Pelicans bolster their patented thug punk attack with monstrous riffs straight out of the seventies Aussie hard rock playbook. Think of an alternate reality where Black Flag got stuck on Rose Tattoo instead of Black Sabbath and you’re almost there. However, like any veteran of the ring, the Pelicans are more than just a bunch of one-move jabronies. Sure, the nine songs on this record seethe with an aggressive swagger guaranteed to put hair on your chest, but these guys have the brains to meld their tough-guy bravado to the type of memorable hooks that serve as the backbone for all the best punk rock. The result is a non-stop rager that rips from start to finish. If you are a TOTAL PUNK who enjoys the finer things in life like shotgunning beers, the X-Spurts album, and Scott Steiner promos, then learn to love the Golden Pelicans, because they may just be the best band around. Limited to 500 copies with silkscreened covers featuring a killer design by Mac Blackout. - Steve Borchardt

AYE NAKO "The Blackest Eye" LP (Don Giovanni Records)
Aye Nako is a 4-piece collaboration made up of Mars Dixon, Angie Boylan, Jade Payne, and Joe McCann dedicated to untangling histories of abuse, race, trauma, family, love, gender, and a misrepresentation of identity. Also a dissonant and melodic punk band carving out a space to co-exist in the fold between music, art, and politics while trying not to be priced out of New York City. Formed in Brooklyn, NY during the summer of 2010,Aye Nako has performed at basements, clubs, museums, and schools all over the country. As an update to the sound heard on Unleash Yourself, their first, self-released album, they’ve self recorded a new EP titled “The Blackest Eye”. Named after Toni Morrison’s 1st novel, "The Bluest Eye”, The album lyrically takes on the similar themes of cultural conceptions of beauty and worth and the devastating long term effects it can have on those who do not fit those conceptions. The songs narrate through singer/songwriter Mars's experiences with physical abuse, family, anti-blackness and racial self-acceptance while growing up in the southern united states. Musically it all comes together through dual guitar leads, precise drums, fuzzed out bass, and an underlying appreciation for the darker side of pop sensibility.

PEACH KELLI POP "I" LP (Infinity Cat Records)
This shit is absolutely adorable, sez Space Rock Mountain. "It is lighthearted, very lo-fi, and catchy as all fuck." Damn straight. We're honored to bring Peach Kelli Pop's bubblegum pop stateside, so you can dedicate each and every song to yr crush. Pressed on tie-dye purple vinyl, attempted by our friends at United Record Pressing for the first time ever! Also comes with a download card so you can get to making those mixtapes. Ahhh, young luv.

PEACH KELLI POP "II" LP (Burger Records)
PEACH KELLI POP’S sophomore self-titled LP. Super catchy bubblegum pop hits!

PEACH KELLI POP "III" LP
(Burger Records)
3rd album of Sticky Bubblegum pop hits!!! “Deftly crafted pop…hooky as hell & to the point…sweet yet detached like the fading flavor of a watermelon Jolly Rancher long crunched & swallowed.” - Pitchfork

FIELD MOUSE "Hold Still Life" LP (Topshelf Records)
Hold Still Life, which was co-produced by band members Andrew Futral and Rachel Browne, marks Field Mouse's first full-length that's been written and released as a full band. The album was recorded at Seaside Lounge, Brooklyn & Let 'em In, Brooklyn and mixed by Kyle Gilbride (Swearin', Waxahatchee, Upset). Upon returning from a tour with Laura Stevenson and the Cans in 2013, the band wasted no time arranging the album. Inspired by burgeoning adulthood, social overload and isolation, life in New York, and the realization that life is going by with a terrifying swiftness (plus a handful of breakup songs to boot), Field Mouse wrote and recorded the new album in late 2013. If you're a fan of artists like The Breeders, Sonic Youth, Velocity Girl, My Bloody Valentine, Beach House or Juliana Hatfield, you're gonna enjoy Field Mouse. Plus, they have a really great cover of the Twin Peaks song so there's that.

ALVVAYS "S/T" LP
(Polyvinyl Records)
Alvvays are two women, three men, a crate of cassettes and a love of jingle-jangle. Molly Rankin and Kerri MacLellan grew up as next-door neighbours in Cape Breton, lifting fiddles and folk-songs. Heartbreaks of different shades soon entered their lives, as did the music of Teenage Fanclub and Belle & Sebastian. Similar noisy melancholy drifted over to Prince Edward Island, finding Alec O'Hanley, Brian Murphy and Philip MacIsaac. Convening in Toronto, the group have been making music since dusk or maybe dawn, when stars were appearing or fading off. As a result, their debut self-titled album is both sun-splashed and twilit -- nine songs concealing drunkenness, defeat and death in tungsten-tinted pop that glitters like sea glass. With needlepoint melody and verse, Rankin and O'Hanley's songs were recorded at Chad VanGaalen's Yoko Eno studio and mixed by Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) and John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile). The resultant album is loud and clear and sure. Flood your ears.

WEBSTORE UPDATE: New LA MISMA, SUDOR, CRETINS, SNOB, and MORE!

It's been a busy few weeks since the last update, and there's been some killer new stuff that's come in recently so I'm just going to keep this email short and simple.

First off, and I know I said this last time but I'll say it again - thanks to everyone who has picked up a copy of the IRON BOOTS Discography LP! We are very stoked at the response to this reissue and glad everyone is as excited as we are. Both myself and Triple B have about 10 or so copies each of the limited Orange vinyl - so if you are still hoping to get your color vinyl fix on this release, better grab one soon! You can pick up a copy in the Grave Mistake store HERE.

Ok, now for new distro stuff …

New Webstore Titles from LA MISMA, SNOB, SUDOR, CRETINS, GENOCIDE PACT, and MORE!

Picked up awesome new LPs from NYC's LA MISMA and Spain's SUDOR; the brand new 2nd EP from London's SNOB; the pulverizing new SCALPED 7"; a ton of releases from the Not Normal label including a repressing of the ripping BIG ZIT debut 7", new EPs from SIN MOTIVO and SIN ORDEN, and a handful of tapes including THE BUG Demo, THE FLOOR ABOVE Demo, CRUDE HUMOR Demo, and BUGHOUSE VOL. I Mixtape which features a ton of hits (count em - 37 tracks!) from some great bands including but not limited to ORDEN MUNDIAL, PRIMETIME, TENEMENT, THE BUG, CHRISTI, MYSTIC INANE, and many more!

Speaking of new tapes, I also picked up a couple of local jammers from some Richmond hcpunkmetal groups; the demo from new RVA heavy hitters OUTSHINED and a rad collection tape from CRETINS which features both their upcoming new 7" on Deranged in it's entirety and their debut 7" that came out last year on Vinyl Conflict.  Also picked up the demo from NYC's WORSE, and a nice selection from More Power Tapes out of Buffalo, and the latest Feral Kid Mixtape compilation.

A webstore update wouldn't be complete without a few sick new reissues. This time around we've got the latest gem on Toronto's Ugly Pop Records - LP reissue from Germany's PACK; a ripping reissue from Australia's LETHAL OVERDOSE; and all three LP reissues from Canadian legends CHOKEHOLD.

I also grabbed a few more of the latest releases from Baltimore's A389 Recordings including the brutal new full length from Washington DC's GENOCIDE PACT and the 2nd LP from Baltimore's NOISEM.

Finally, grabbed some restocks on a few old and new hits including (but not limited to) the SOCIETY ABUSE 7", CROWN COURT Demo Tape, FORESEEN 7", GLUE 7", SCUMRAID 7", SLIMY MEMBER 7",  and POINTED STICKS and BUREAUCRATS 7" reissues.  Full restock list is at the bottom of the email.

Thanks for reading!

New Webstore Titles for October 23, 2015:

LA MISMA "Kanizadi" LP
(Toxic State Records)
"After a year and a half of waiting for a proper follow up to their excellent debut 7, NYC's La Misma return with their debut LP. To cut to the chase, I'm shocked at the level of improvement from the 7" to this. The 7" was great, but this record might just be a masterpiece. There is a far more dynamic approach to the songwriting and flow of the record that really stands out. On some of the slower songs, you would possibly think that you're listening to the best (unintentional) post-punk record of the year. Every element of the band is excellent, of course, but what TRULY stands out are the guitar parts, which are the best NYC punk (or American punk) has to offer in 2015. As always, the packaging is the best in the game." - Katorga Works

SNOB "S/T (2nd)" 7" (Self Released)
Finally the long awaited follow up to SNOB's debut 7" from last year. This time around 4 tracks of aggressive distorted hardcore somewhere in between RUDIMENTARY PENI and USA CONFLICT. The songwritting has improved drastically, moving the band away from their influences and finding them in their own realm. A vital part of the current London scene and a must hear.

SCALPED "II" 7"
(Video Disease Records)
Hot off the heels of their debut 7" on Warthog Speak, the Bay Area, CA's Scalped is back with their sophomore release on Video Disease. Picking up where they left off, Scalped brings us four songs of downtrodden, hateful, in-your-face hardcore heavily influenced by late-80's NYHC and early-80's Japanese HC. Heavy riffs coupled with throat-crushing vocals mixed with a Biohazard-esque swagger and devastating breakdowns, Scalped is a part of a new wave of HARDcore that refuses to back down. Featuring a guest appearance by Tony Molina. Limited edition of 300 copies.

SUDOR "Enamorado de la muerte juvenil" LP (Todo Destruido Records)
10 new tracks of raw punk from Spain in the vein of Discharge/Eskorbuto.

BIG ZIT "Electric Zit Vol. 1" 7" (Not Normal Tapes)
The Big Throbbin’ Zit's first fit. BZ has spent months and months honing a craft that the big-city, shitty-kitties can only grasp at, all so they can deliver to all you true believers the most ragingest, rockingest, ass-shakingest rekkid sure to drop this year. At least until their next opus.

BUG, THE "What’s Buggin’ You?" Tape (Not Normal Tapes)
After over a year of throbbin’ and writhin’ underground, these freaks have finally unleashed the first wave of an ongoing infestation. The Bug takes cues from Die Kruezen, Mecht Mensch, and Wrangler Brutes to make music as bratty and annoying as the members themselves. This little piece of rectanguloid plastic trash contains six tracks of contentious, screeching noise played at 78rpm, of palpable cynicism and contempt for the human turd, of rejection of punk as a marketing gimmick. The real fucking deal.

SIN MOTIVO "Laberinto b/w Tierra Del Deseo" 7”
(Not Normal Tapes)
Long awaited vinyl pressing of this raw demonstration of power. Sin Motivo has been at it for some time now, making a name for themselves by crafting tight, manic hardcore tunes that are always a few notches above their closest peers. What you have here, true believers, is one sprawling behemoth spread out over two sides, blasting off at 45rpm before working itself into a trance and tearing right back into high gear before the whole thing collapses. This is an absolute monster of a record, the burly vocals and wailing guitars calling to mind fellow Texans Wiccans (which makes sense considering there's some incestuousness between the two bands). Comes with two-color screen printed insert courtesy of Ian! Freeze! Ink. Get this rekkid!

SIN ORDEN "Ha Llegado El Momento" 7"
(Not Normal Tapes)
Chicago's Sin Orden is the band that never quit, over ten years of "Love & Rage" and not a single sign of slowing down or mellowing. If anything, this is a demonstration of them at their absolute best, with seven new songs that meld the raging fast hardcore punk the South side of Chicago has been producing for decades with the D-beat of Texas stalwarts like Vaaska and Criaturas. This band has factored heavily in my life ever since I first started attending shows in the city and it's an absolute honor to release this slab of wax. Play this one loud, true believers.

V/A "Bughouse I Mixtape" Compilation Tape (Not Normal Tapes)
Not a lot to it, true believers. 37 tracks of pure punk rock 'n' roll from the likes of American Hate, Baghead, Boots, the Bug, Bugg, Christi, Chuckleheads, CHUD, Coltranes, Common Ignorance, The Floor Above, Fogg, Lech, Leech, Mystic Inane, Negative Scanner, Orden Mundial, Otherized, Primetime, Slugbugs, Tenement, and Youth Sucks.

CRUDE HUMOR "Jeri’s Grill" Tape
(Not Normal Tapes)
Look, everyone wants to be a freak in 2015 and in this age of danglies and glue and Vile t-shirts, it's easy to forget that most fools at the ch(A)os gig couldn't hack it for 5 minutes with a group of true freaks. And, true believers, Crude Humor is a group of true freaks. Teenaged rockers unsullied by neither trend nor pretense, this four piece from Chicago channels classic Texas weirdos like Butthole Surfers and Stickmen With Rayguns and jams them headfirst into Circle Jerks-esque trash. A perfect demo if you still like punk.

FLOOR ABOVE, THE "S/T" Tape (Not Normal Tapes)
There's a certain virtuosity and creativity that isolation cultivates. When you have no one left to impress or please, you truly find yourself. The Floor Above is a one-man wrecking crew from Nashville, TN that has been cranking out small-run demos and even a relatively unnoticed, yet completely flawless LP, for some time now of Land Speed Record-era Husker Du meets Mecht Mensch nightmare music. This is completely unhinged, unrelenting, unparalleled hardcore. Pay attention. This is how it's done.

PACK "S/T" LP (Ugly Pop Records)
Nobody can tell us that this 1978 German monster isn't one of the best footlongs of the era, a gnarly slab of pure '70s punk rock recorded in an abandoned WW2 bunker with two mics in one session. 'Pack' is just hit after hit, killer songs delivered with snarl, style and non-stop energy. Essential first generation punk, remastered with extensive liner notes and vintage photos!

LETHAL OVERDOSE "Unfinished Business" LP (Collision Course Records)
First-ever album release for this obscure Australian hardcore/crossover act. Recorded in 1988 and apparently sold on cassette at the band’s shows around that time period, that cassette is unfortunately the only existing source, and we all know how well cassettes hold up over time. However, a quality transfer and remastering job results in a remarkably decent sound. Very reminiscent of a crossover but pre-metal D.R.I. Fast and tight, anti-religion, anti-government, anti-war and anti-melody! Great riffs, intelligent lyrics, the occasional thrashy guitar lead, and just enough variety to keep things interesting in this very confining style. My only complaint is that there’s nothing in the liner notes in the way of band history, and an internet search yielded very little, other than the fact that three of these songs were actually released in 1989 on a four-band Aussie comp called Thank you Charles. Nonetheless, an excellent find and worth picking up. - Razorcake

CHOKEHOLD "Content With Dying" LP
(A389 Records)
The sophomore album by this legendary 90's Canadian hardcore band is available once again! Thirteen tracks of politically charged metallic hardcore, including a remixed version of the 'Tooth And Nail' EP as bonus tracks.  All completely re-mastered by Audiosiege, with a brand new layout by Dwid Hellion including lyrics insert, a 24"x24" poster and digital download code.

CHOKEHOLD "Prison of Hope" LP (A389 Records)
The debut 1993 album by Canadian hardcore legends CHOKEHOLD is finally back in print! Fourteen tracks in all (including the 'Instilled' EP) completely re-mastered by Audiosiege, with a brand new layout by Dwid Hellion including lyrics insert, a 24"x24" poster and digital download code.

CHOKEHOLD "S/T (Early Years Collection)" LP (A389 Records)
This self-titled CHOKEHOLD collection LP compiles all of the band's early EP's and splits (completely remixed) alongside select demo / compilation appearances and unreleased tracks.  All completely re-mastered by Audiosiege, with a brand new layout by Dwid Hellion including lyrics insert and digital download code.

GENOCIDE PACT "Forged Through Domination" LP (A389 Records)
Washington DC's GENOCIDE PACT (members of RED DEATH / D.O.C.) present their crushing debut LP 'Forged Through Domination'.  Seven bludgeoning and barbaric tracks that bring to mind the early era of classic Earache bands.  Housed in heavy Tip-On style jacket with incredible artwork by Joshy Brettell (ILSA).

NOISEM "Blossoming Decay" LP (A389 Records)
Baltimore’s NOISEM return with their highly anticipated sophomore LP: ‘Blossoming Decay’. The bar has been raised with nine frantic and furious new tracks that blurs the line between grind/death/thrash metal and punk.  LP is packaged in die-cut cover with fold-out full color collage inside.

ILSA "The Felon's Claw" 2xLP
(A389 Records)
Washington DC's masters of occult-inspired Doom/Crust ILSA return with their fourth full length offering: 'The Felon's Claw'.  Spread across two 12" records cut at 45 RPM for maximum sonic oppression, 'The Felon's Claw' unleashes ten severely down-tuned and pulverizing tracks culminating into ILSA's darkest and most focused record to date. Recorded at Developing Nations and Mastered by Audiosiege with artwork by Joshy Brettell, the vinyl pressing is sure to impress with a full size pop-up gatefold cover center-piece as well as printed inner sleeves.

MAXIMUMROCKNROLL #390 - Nov. 2015
(MRR)
It’s time for Maximum Rocknroll #390, the November 2015 issue! On our cover: AS MERCENÁRIAS, DIY post-punk legends from Brazil whose revelatory 1983 demo was just reissued on Nada Nada Discos. This issue also includes two conversations spanning the punk festival circuit: Not Dead Yet organizer Greg Benedetto sheds light on the motivations behind punk promotion, the ethical challenges of a growing fest, and a perfect day in Toronto; further south, organizers and performers alike pitch in on a brief oral history of Chattanooga’s Do Ya Hear We fest. Even more interviews in these pages, direct from the source: famously prolific MPC-augmented Ohio punks OBNOX; revolutionary Oakland noise voyagers SBSM; the dark and entrancing STRANGLED out of Edmonton; severe and austere Chicago post-punkers POPULATION; the raw noisy hardcore pandrogynous agenda of Portland’s EMASCULATOR; and last but not least, our first-ever interview with PARASITES in their nearly 30-year history spanning New Jersey and the Bay Area. As if that weren’t enough for you, we’ve also packed in photo spreads from the opening weekend of DIY Space for London and, from the dead center of the midwestern freak beat underground, Springfield, IL’s Dumb Fest 3D. All of this, the columns you love to loathe, and the most extensive reviews section in the wide world of punk print.

CRETINS "Collection" Tape (Cretins Cassettes)
New tour tape from Richmond rippers CRETINS. This tape contains their upcoming second EP due out on Deranged in a few months, plus their debut 7" from 2014.

OUTSHINED Demo Tape (Demo)
"A young new band playing a crossover hardcore style that feels both contemporary as well as refers to the past. It's a style that's quite popular these days, and for good reason, hah. Bands like Bitter End, Broken Teeth, Take Offense, etc all have a modern sound but have clearly also listened to crossover bands like the Crumbsuckers, Ludichrist and D.R.I..  The same goes for Outshined, but even more so than the aforementioned bands, you can clearly hear their late 80s influences in the way the songs are written and played. And they are good at what they do! They don't stretch out songs needlessly, aside from closing track 'On Your Time' all the tracks are done within 2 and a half minutes. Get in, do your thing, and get out. Awesome! Outshined's singer also uses a vocal style and a flow that reminds of late 80s crossover bands. I will definitely keep this band on my radar!" - http://onexpath.blogspot.com/

WORSE Demo Tape (Demo)
Rising out of the ashes of the late, great Shoxx, 3/4 of the band reconfigure and become...Worse. Heyo! Bad jokes aside, this is one of the more unique demos to come out of the NYC punk scene this year, which isn't surprising considering the people in the band. I can't really pin down what this band is like outside of saying "noisy punk/hardcore," as its a bit all over the place. The first song even has a part that sounds like Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana haha. That being said, it's a really promising start and you should check it out! Recommended.

FERAL KID MIXTAPE VOL. 2 Tape (Feral Kid Records)
After a much anticipated wait we are finally proud to announce the availability of the Feral Kid Mix-Tape Vol. 2! 33 previously unreleased songs by such acts as Skate Korpse, Gas Chamber, Homostupids, Space Wolves, Aaron & the Burrs, and more!  Dont snooze on this, quantities are limited!

BLOBS Demo Tape
(More Power Tapes)
True outsider punk. 7 songs of snotty, riff-heavy, female-fronted hardcore punk. Beware of BLOBS

FACILITY MEN Demo Tape
(More Power Tapes)
Five songs of dark yet catchy disturbing post-punk lunacy. The third and best cassette thus far by FACILITY MEN out of Buffalo, NY. You may recognize the vocals and drumming style as the driving force of the now defunct PLATES. if that was up your alley, then look no further, this band is for you.

FLESHY MOUNDS "You're Welcome" Tape (More Power Tapes)
Fleshy Mounds - "You're Welcome" cassette. Debut release from buffalo, ny's Fleshy Mounds. Male Fronted Hardcore with a full female backing band. truly dark and scary punk music.

GILLOOLY Demo Tape
(More Power Tapes)
GILLOOLY cassette. More Power tapes plugs right along with an unappreciated upstate NY band from a handful of years ago. Members of Brown Sugar, Skate Korpse, and Golden Buffet come together for this 11 song cassette.

GLAMOUR GIRLS Demo Tape
(More Power Tapes)
GLAMOUR GIRLS cassette. Third release by the up and coming More Power tapes, this time moving out to Sailorsburg, PA. Glamour Girls play a mix of dirty punk rock, youthful pop-punk, and rock n' roll, all the while intertwining professional wrestling sound clips.

KHARLOS "Don't Think About Dying at My Party" Tape (More Power Tapes)
Modern psychedelic inspired pop has never sounded better. Kharlos does it like the best of them. Driving tunes cranked out by this 3-piece with additional keys and female vocals really pushing it over the top. Very catchy, very weird, very necessary.

Night Birds have a handful of shows coming up over the next few months, including some great shows this weekend with Dillinger Four. All of those dates are listed below.

In addition to the sale, we are also running a pretty rad Test Press contest to go along with it.  All you have to do to enter is pick up one of these earlier Night Birds releases during the sale, and you could win a test pressing of their Born to Die in Suburbia LP. For more info on that, check out the full post HERE.

IRON BOOTS Complete Discography LP - Out Now!

The latest Grave Mistake release is officially out now - a twenty song discography from one of Virginia's finest hardcore acts, IRON BOOTS.  We went all out with this discography, including the full remaster treatment from Daniel at North London Bomb Factory, some awesome new cover art courtesy of Spoiler, and a killer 24x24 poster insert - definitely worth picking up if you were a fan of the band, a casual listener, or if you are just looking to check them out for the first time! I can assure you this material has never sounded better (especially on wax).

You can pick up a copy of the Iron Boots Complete Discography LP HERE

If you want to give it all a listen or downlad, then head over to the Grave Mistake Bandcamp page and check it out!  The LP is currently making the rounds this month through myself and Triple B Records, with whom this was a co-release; all preorders have shipped, and we have the final copies of the limited Orange Vinyl slowly disappearing - so grab one before they are gone!

In addition to the reissue, we also reprinted a couple of rad Iron Boots shirt designs - so snag one of those while you are at it! For more info on the release, head over to yesterday's update HERE.

Finally, here's a Distro update for you …

New Distro Titles for 10.09.15:

PLEASURE LEFTISTS "The Woods of Heaven" LP (Deranged Records)
Pleasure Leftists formed in 2010 with vocalist Haley Morris, guitarist Kevin Jaworski, drummer Mark TerVeen, and bassist Steve Peffer. With a clear vision in place, the group made its debut with a self-titled EP that recalls everything from Joy Division to Comsat Angels to Chameleons. Unlike many who rip off these influences, Pleasure Leftists take only a few cues from the past, all to better construct its understanding of the present. The Woods of Heaven is the band's first proper LP after a string of EPs and singles through labels such as Katorga Works, Fan Death Records, and its current home, Deranged Records. This album features an aggressive tone with tense yet catchy songs such as "Cannon" and "Heaven's Rocker." Lead single "You You” is a perfect showcase of just how impressive a vocalist Haley Morris is—not only in her range but in her audible confidence, which propels every track like an engine motor. The Woods of Heaven is a jaw-dropping debut full-length. Most artists dream of writing an LP where every song sounds important, urgent, and necessary. Pleasure Leftists have done just that.

FLOWERS OF EVIL "S/T" LP (Deranged Records)
Flowers Of Evil crawled out of the New York City sewer in the sweltering summer of 2014. Armed with a set of avant-snot rippers, they’ve been leaving a trail of broken glass and bloody noses all over the city. Their self-titled debut album is coming soon from Deranged. For fans of the Germs, Rudimentary Peni, the Monorchid and beyond.

CENTURY PALM "Valley Cyan" 7" (Deranged Records)
Two song single with Valley Cyan b/w Accept It's perhaps cliche to speak of a new band bursting upon the scene, but in the case of Toronto's Century Palm, such a claim is entirely valid. This collaborative project between five veterans of the Canadian underground has amassed no small degree of interest from the informed and attentive. Century Palm is a new group with ambitions far beyond their rawer formative endeavours, and the extent of that shared vision is now becoming clear. Not content to simply combine influences, Century Palm slither effortlessly across genre boundaries, drawing upon myriad times and places. Simple Minds, The Units, Neu!, Wire, Television, Brian Eno's pop records, and contemporary sounds from the Australian garage rock subterrain all come to mind. Century Palm frequently employ minimal but propulsive rhythms in service of intoxicating melodies. Songs shiver, pulsate and glisten, losing none of the essential energy of band members' previous projects while adding new worlds of texture and feeling. There's a fascinating tension, a palpable struggle between their inner selves and their music that demands to be heard. Now all you need to do is listen. – Simon Harvey, Ugly Pop

ABSOLUT / PARANOID Split LP (Beach Impediment Records)
ABSOLUT (Canada) and PARANOID (Sweden) team up to unleash this split 12" of JAWBREAKING MANGEL DEVASTATION! We are pretty proud of this release as it comes with full color artwork by the legendary Japanese hardcore punk artist SUGI and comes in a gatefold sleeve. Its limited to 500 (400 black vinyl and 100 transparent orange). If you've heard either band before you know what to expect. ABSOLUT plays devastating HC punk influenced by late era Cimex and other punk bands with a metal tinge to them. The vocals on this are relentless. PARANOID hailing from Sweden have members from many other Swedish kang bands and are in my opinion one of the worlds best current punk acts. Taking influence from the countless raging Swedish bands they grew up with but also taking plenty of cues from Japan and combining them into a barrage of intense hardcore punk that will leave you numb!

NASTY FACTS "Drive My Car" 7" (Fanclub Pressing)
Yet another excellent fanclub edition of a classic KBD single. The lone release from this Brooklyn band, "Drive My Car" is one of the best American punk songs ever recorded. Well, now you can get it for a reasonable price! And, not unlike the recent Suicide Squad 7", this fanclub edition sounds FANTASTIC.

PUBLIC DISTURBANCE "S&M" 7"
(Fanclub Pressing)
Yet another excellent fanclub edition of a classic KBD single. Originally released on the legendary Mutha records, Public Disturbance's debut EP is one of the finest records of its kind, hence the $300-$400 price tag. Well, now you can get it for a reasonable price! And, not unlike the recent Suicide Squad 7", this fanclub edition sounds FANTASTIC.

RATA NEGRA "S/T" 7" (Discos MMM)
Spain has been on the top of its game lately for great punk bands and RATA NEGRA is no exception. The band formed when "Juanita" from JUANITA Y LOS FEOS and Pablo, drummer for LA URSS got together in Madrid and started playing. The result is just what you would hope, top notch melodic and dark punk along the lines of ULTIMO RESORTE, AGENT ORANGE, ADOLESCENTS and even WIPERS. Here is their debut 7" giving you 4 songs. Folks in LA already got a shot at the 7" when RATA NEGRA played a house party last month around the JUANITA Y LOS FEOS U.S./Mexico tour. Don't sleep on this one: 300 pressed.

CADAVER EM TRANSE "S/T" 7" (Iron Lung Records)
Countries with strict borders and immigration policies are ruining the cultural exchange, the enrichment, the fucking quality of life that is an inherent right for all of humanity. Social media is no substitute for real life experience. By denying Brazil's CADAVER EM TRANSE entry, the US government has made it impossible for us to further ourselves as a people and a community. This is bullshit.  For those of us who will not get to see this band full of productive, passionate, driven, warm hearted and artistically important people, ILR has opted to at least make their music available to you. 4 stunningly crafted gritty não wave punk charmers in the vein of MUZAK's sharp angled post punk or VZYADOQ MOE's raw wave darkness with a slight and steady undercurrent of industrial heaviness. Members of RAKTA.  400 copies of heavy duty clear/black marble vinyl in a textured pocket sleeve with insert and fancy silver sticker. Art by Murilo Pommer. Photos by Mateus Mondini.

LONGINGS "S/T" LP
(Framework Records)
Longings explore the dark passages of post-punk with an intricate and melodic edge. Both bleak and levitative, their self-titled debut aggressively conquers themes of frustration & isolation. The Western Massachusetts trio, comprised of Meghan Minior, Will Killingsworth, and Cole Lanier, have grown and intensified their sound dramatically since the release of their 2013 demo tape, and it truly shows on these recordings. Over the course of eight songs, the band crafts an acute and urgent album by way of dynamic guitar work, compelling vocals, and spirited delivery. We could not be happier to release this record to the world. All copies on colored vinyl, with newsprint poster insert and download card.

MODERN WARFARE "Dayglo Shadows Delivered" 7" (UT Records)
Reissue of the underrated first 7 from Modern Warfare. Popular opinion will tell you the "#2" 7" is the better (and more expensive) record, but not me. Three tracks of perfect 1980 Geza X-produced Long Beach punk, "In the Shadows" is a great early LA punk tune, with twin guitar interplay and a nice little hook. "Delivered" has some great stereophonic guitar trickery and always reminded me a bit of The Dils, "Dayglo" is a tight little punk stomper a la Eyes with more cool Geza production tricks. An under-rated record from an under-rated band and under-rated scene/label in general, that whole weird little Bemis thing is a really cool little early Eighties niche that hasn't been plundered by the reissue labels yet - Ut tapped a good vein here, with some more Bemis label surprises coming in 2015. Scum stats: three different silkscreened (inside and out) sleeve color variations."- Terminal Boredom

MODERNS, THE "When She Gets Back" 7" (
Feral Kid Records)
Recorded in 1979, The Moderns only recording sat for 35 long years before seeing the light of day. An incredible unsung power-pop/punk/new wave record, now available. snag this lost classic before its gone!

FREAK VIBE "Cuss Gang" 7" (CV Records)
From the sewers of Seattle comes Freak Vibe. They play punk in the vein of The Cramps and The Stooges. That means heavy on the cool guitars, the blues vibe and the scummy attitude of those early punk bands that just loved primitive and simple rock and roll. If you cried when Lux Interior died, you think that Poison Ivy is the best guitarist in the world or are just like me, a poseur that rediscovered The Cramps just a couple of years ago and now think it is the best band in rock history, then Freak Vibe is for you. This guys and girls are doing a Spring Tour. Check them out they are good. First time I saw them in their native Seattle they blew me away, they are like wild animals with instruments. The drummer is Latino and one of the most violent hitters I have seen, the guitarist has the moves and nice facial hair, the bass player has STYLE and cool hair and the vocalist is just Latino scum. They are even playing a few fests here and there, just in case you go to those kind of events.

AARON AND THE BURRS "Release the Bats" 7" (Feral Kid Records)
Debut vinyl release from Buffalo surf powerhouse Aaron & the Burrs after two killer cassettes. Produced by the Legendary Geza X. Covers are hand screen printed on different colored stock.

V/A "Bloodstains Across Buffalo" Compilation LP
(Extra Evidence Productions)
Bloodstains Across Buffalo LP - the first city specific compilation in the classic BLOODSTAINS saga. 15 tracks of first-wave punk and power-pop from Buffalo, NY, all from the golden age of punk; 1977-1984. A total classic!

TERMINAL FIVE Demo Tape (Feel It Records)
Three fresh cuts of loud punk rock from Richmond’s best new export, THE TERMINAL FIVE. Four SLUGZ members kept together after the group disbanded, resulting in a new rock’n’roll unit designed to flat out destroy. On 3x5, THE TERMINAL FIVE zero in on a sound that draws from the best 70's punk, applying a solid appreciation for the powerful songwriting and playing present on degenerate rock records like Killer and Raw Power. With the recent addition of Jarrett from SATAN’S SATYRS on guitar, THE TERMINAL FIVE are already hard at work on a proper album. Tapes come professionally duplicated and printed for best results.

DEAD HERO Demo Tape (Discos MMM)
This is the US pressing of the DEAD HERO demo tape. DEAD HERO is a female-fronted punk rock oi band with members of SECTA SUICIDA from Bogota, Colombia. They will be playing this year's VARNING FROM MONTREAL Fest and MMM is very excited to bring their music stateside. Think classic punk and oi like THE EXPELLED, ONE WAY SYSTEM, and LAST RESORT with their own Colombian twist. Great stuff.

CRIMINAL WAVE "Rural Savages" Tape
(Demo)
CRIMINAL WAVE's debut full length, "Rural Savages" delivers 13 tracks of anxiety, rage, and decay filled hardcore punk. This release pays homage to The Adolescents, TSOL, and JFA but retains its own style that is shaped by the small town and rural punk scene of Northern CA.

KOLUMNA BURRUTI Demo Tape (CV Records)
“El Burro” also known as “Severino”,etc. Is a punk that has been walking around the streets of lima with his “visu” (peruvian word for punk visual) for years and years making fun of the rich, hating cops and the government one step at a time. He is the mastermind behind bands like DHK and Ratas Rabiosas, two of my favorite bands going on right now in Latin America. Kolumna Burruti is his solo project, written, played, recorded and drawn by him and him only. This is exactly like a mix of his two bands I already mentioned. If you haven't heard about them in the past few years you need stop doing what you are doing and buy their records/tapes ASAP! Kolumna Burruti is like if two people from the japanese early Sodom and two people from the peruvian Ataque Frontal just found out about the Nordic Beat and recorded a tape. That is it more or less it. Tapes like this are the ones that keep me stoked on punk. El Burro is one of the most interesting and musical productive punks in the world and the amount of love for punk this guy has makes me happy to live right now and not the 80s.

IGNORANTES "Olor a Cuero Rancio…" Tape
(CV Records)
This little tape is probably the most exciting thing I have ever released on the label. Is one of those small things charged with backstory, exchange of letters and punk. The story goes like this: My good friend Atacho from a bunch of cool bands in Chile told me there was one of the best bands in the world right in a small town close to his city Concepcion. He told me there were insane, they didn't play too many shows and didn’t had anything online because they hated the internet, like for real. He sweared to me they were a mix of Dexkoncierto, Rasix and Ataque de Sonido. From just saying that I wanted to release their shit ASAP. I got a hold of El Barto and Gabriel and they send me their two demos on cdrs. And I have to say it is the best demos I heard in a long while, if not ever. I listen to both cdrs hundreds of times and sang their lyrics at the top of my lungs while commuting/hating my job for months. They are PUNK, harsh and real, I think Ignorantes have the of the best lyrics in punk since Eskorbuto. I told them I wanted to release this on a 12” but they promise to send me new songs for an 12” that is coming on Cintas Pepe and CVR in a few months (years? decades?). For now we will have to conform with this tape called “Olor a Cuero Rancio, Vino y Raja” (smell of rotten leather, wine and ass in English) Check them out!

MAXIMUMROCKNROLL #389 - October 2015 (MRR)
Maximum Rocknroll #389, the October 2015 issue! On the cover we’ve got SICK THOUGHTS, teen punk and the man behind the most prolific one-man-band du jour. Robert Collins of CONQUEST FOR DEATH takes us on the band’s recent tour of Mongolia, South Korea, China, and Japan (lots of his patented fukks included!) and we’ve got a double dose of Portland, Oregon, with interviews with the STOPS and VIVID SEKT. We go deep and dark into the damaged minds of San Francisco’s SWIFTUMZ, find out about Detroit stalwarts TYVEK, get clued into a bit of the Irish hardcore scene with RATS BLOOD, and speak with Danish dark punks MOTH and Croatian synth punks MODERN DELUSION, plus a conversation with Oakland-based feminist, anarchist, badass-ist duo RAGANA. And, as always, your essential guide to new punk records, demos, books, and zines, and all of your favorite columnists.

STITCHES IN MY HEAD #8 Zine
(Zine)
Latest dispatch from Cleveland-via-Australia's STITCHES IN MY HEAD fanzine. This issue includes interviews with GIBBOUS (from St. Louis, remember that killer 7" single Lumpy did?), Boston's ANIMAL MOTHER, Clevo HC label KONTON CRASHER, a SEX DWARF US tour journal, plus interviews with new Aussie groups CUM and OBAT BATUK. All this plus the energetic smattering of reviews and live photos that you've come to expect from SIMH. Edition of 40 printed by Feel It.

NUTS ZINE Issue #16
(Nuts)
NUTS! #16 continues in short and sweet style of the past couple issues - this time Ben chats with NYC locals VANITY and NANDAS. SHEER MAG expound on the lyrics to their first EP. West coast scene coverage from Laura Pallmall and Julia Booz, plus live reviews from the editor and a bonus insert from Mike Caiazzo of Mommy. Cover artwork by Nay Rosario of La Misma.

DISTORT #48 Zine (Distort)
A tribute to Al Montfort, Snake, who has spent the last decade playing in some of Melbourne's most active underground bands - Straightjacket Nation, The UV Race, Total Control, Dick Diver, East Link and Lower Plenty. From mutant glam punk to psychotic hardcore to damaged post punk to feral dole wave, Snake has made a huge impact on the sound and drive of contemporary Australian music. In 2013, Douglas Lance Gibson interviewed Al and DX about playing in bands together for the past ten years, and shot some photographs. The bulk of this issue is this interview and photographs. Also in this issue is an interview by Tim Scott with Al Montfort and a complete to time of printing discography of his recording career, numbering a significant 66 releases. North American edition with red cover printed by Feel It.

DISTORT #47 Zine (Distort)
Establishing a thinking about music and writing about music that is unsympathetic to academic resonance or market value is very important. Distort is in this spirit. I lay in bed and listen to the city and think about Sakevi plotting revenge. He knows what you did.  Modern Melbourne comedown: interviews with Brando's Island, Justin K Fuller and Moon Rituals, a piece by Jess Johnson who illustrated the art on the cover, a piece by Jesse Thomas about the YDI record Black Dust, and some writing on choice modern psychedelic, hardcore and psychotic electronic music: Glue, Blotter, Puce Mary, Culo, Long Knife, Perspex Flesh, Martyr Privates, Goosebumps.  North American edition with red cover printed by Feel It.
