WEBSTORE UPDATE! MERCY KILLINGS, KOWARD, SACRILEGE, ABUSED, and MORE!

Happy Friday the 13th! 2013 is wrapping up, and this might be the last full Grave Mistake Webstore update for the year ... luckily it's a pretty damn good one.  First off, thanks to everyone who picked something up during our Black Friday sale a few weeks back! It went even better than expected, I had a blast and was glad to see so many records get into good hands.  Hopefully you found something awesome to pick up. Most of the specials and package deals are over, but there are still a ton of distro titles for cheap in the Sale section so check those out if you didn't get the chance.

There isn't too much label news this week, only thing of note is that the final GM release for the year will be available next week, which is the COKE BUST "Confined" Collection CD. In addition to the "Confined" 12", this CD also features the tracks from the "Degradation" 7", Vaccine split 7", and "Live on WMUC" 7" ... 28 tracks in all!  I'll have those available next Tuesday, and they will be at a nice price for the rest of the year.

I will also be doing some sort of Grave Mistake year end wrap up next week as well, you might even see a "Best of 2013" list from me.  Brain F≠ "Empty Set" LP has been pushed to early next year of course as we are finalizing the art - vinyl is pressed though, and hopefully these will be shipping by Mid-January.  A killer LP from one of my favorite bands over the past few years, and a worthy follow up to 2011's remarkable "Sleep Rough" LP.

In case you missed last week's update we've got some bands doing cool things over the next few months, including COKE BUST, SECTARIAN VIOLENCE, NIGHT BIRDS, and BIG EYES (who have about week left of their current West Coast / Southwest tour). You can read that full update HERE.

Now, let's get down to the new webstore goods for the week!

First on the list is the debut 7" from VA's MERCY KILLINGS on Beach Impediment; featuring members of WASTED TIME, DIRECT CONTROL, and SOCIALCIDE, the bar has been set pretty high for this band and they definitely deliver on their first vinyl offering. This 7" smokes, the song writing is top notch and Mark delivers a killer vocal performance, showing that he hasn't missed a beat since Wasted Time called it a day. If you only buy one more new 7" this year, I'd say make it this one. Other new releases in the store included the devastating KOWARD 7", DOWN BUT NOT OUT "Caught in the Cycle Demo"7", CONCRETE ASYLUM 7", second BAD PEOPLE 7", the new AUTISTIC YOUTH LP, a few titles from SPHC (EXIT HIPPIES / LOTUS FUCKER split LP, BOOM BOOM KID LP, and more), new LIBYANS LP, and NO///SE 7".

Grabbed a small number of the final KREMLIN tape as well!  KREMLIN played their last show last month at Not Dead Yet, but luckily we were able to get one final recording out of them! One of my favorite bands in recent years, be sure to pick this up along with their 7" and LP if you haven't yet.

Of course as I'm sure you have realized, I am a sucker for a good reissue and there are a bunch of great ones in this update. I have finally obtained some copies of both and ABUSED "LOUD AND CLEAR" LP and THE HIGH AND MIGHTY "Crunch On" 7" reissues from Radio Raheem.  I'm sure you've been hearing the rave reviews on the impressive booklet and packaging on this ABUSED reissue ... probably one of the best and most comprehensive reissues to come out in recent years (oh and of course as I'm sure you are aware, the music rips too). I also stocked up on a few copies of the SACRILEGE (UK) "84-86 Demos" double LP that Havoc just releases, and in true Havoc fashion, this double LP is the same cost (if not cheaper) than most single LPs! So you really have no excuse to not check this one out. I also picked up some essentials from BLITZ, ABRASIVE WHEELS, and KURO as well.

In addition to the KREMLIN tape I grabbed a few other tapes as well, including the HYDE demo (Brain Slug side Project), SPERM Demo, and a few tapes from FERAL KID RECORDS including a PLATES Discography Tape, AARON AND THE BURRS Demo, and PLEASURE LEFTISTS Discography tape.

Finally some restocks from RADIOACTIVITY, BAD SPORTS, CONFUSE, BLITZ, EXPLODING HEARTS, SHIPWRECKED, VANNA INGET, and More!

That's all for now, thanks for reading and have a GREAT weekend!!!

NEW IN THE WEBSTORE FOR 12.12.13:

MERCY KILLINGS "S/T" 7" (BEACH IMPEDIMENT)
Beach Impediment is proud to close out 2013 with the debut EP by MERCY KILLINGS. Formed earlier in the year by a cadre of chaps who’d previously served time in DIRECT CONTROL, WASTED TIME, and a slew of other acts; the prime directive hasn’t changed much for the folks in question. There is still a strong desire to produce and execute punishing hardcore punk, the results of which are captured on this 6 song EP. This is harsh and ugly music for those with a matching demeanor and appearance. Each record comes in a felt based glue pocket sleeve adorned with full color art by Guillem Muro.

KOWARD "S/T" 7" (TOTAL FUCKER)
Raw, Uncompromising Hardcore Punk from Boston/PDX. Featuring members from the Scapegoat camp, Who Killed Spikey Jacket? and Terokal. Taking influence from Scandinavian HC, UKHC and Boston 82.

DOWN BUT NOT OUT "CAUGHT IN THE CYCLE" 7" (PAINKILLER)
One of Boston's true cult classics from the last decade, Down But Not Out emerged from the ether fully a formed hardcore power house in 1999. For a minute it seemed they might take over the world with their perfectly crafted and delivered 4 song demo, and crushing live performances. It wasn't meant to be in the end, but even 14 years later the initial promise of the Caught in the Cycle demo is still obvious, holding up far better than the majority of their peers when you listen now. Here we present it to you, mastered for the first time and pressed to 7" vinyl

HIGH AND MIGHTY, THE "CRUNCH ON" 7" (RADIO RAHEEM)
Radio Raheem proudly presents another slice of long-lost New York Hardcore, The High and The Mighty's 1984 "Crunch On" demo tape, available here for the first time on vinyl. Featuring ex- and future- members of Antidote and the infamous Mighty CO's, The High and The Mighty bust out eight tracks of pure early 80's New York Hardcore that kept fists and boots flying well into the wee hours at A7 and beyond.  Comes housed in a 12-page booklet cover, containing many never-before-seen photos and flyers from the golden years of New York Hardcore. Limited to 500 copies.

CONCRETE ASYLUM "SOCIAL ANXIETY" 7" (BAD VIBRATIONS)
Concrete Asylum is a band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Their record "Social Anxiety" has five tracks of fast, raw, crude, furious, and unique hardcore PUNK. Their noise is reminiscent of Rudimentary Peni, The Fix, Heresy or Jerrys Kids. But who cares! Just like punk itself, there is more to this unit than a list of old bands we all love. Recorded in 2012 and originally released as the band's second tape to high praises, this session is now mastered and released on vinyl, complete with jaw dropping double-sided 11x17 sleeve by artist and member Adam Kindred.  MRR: "This is the epitome of fast and chaotic hardcore. This could have been generic and unmemorable, but instead it fucking rips! Interesting rhythm and vocal hooks and creative riffs are their strengths. It's their second demo and is recommended for fans of shit like Heresy and Electro Hippies."

BAD PEOPLE "MEAN TALKIN" 7" (FEEBLE MINDS)
No rest for the wicked, here's the sophomore effort from these Buffalo bad boys. Another batch of outsider hardcore, musical complaints and grievances, this time with a wider scope of influence. A bit darker, a bit dirtier, an unquestionable progression from the first 7" but just as stupid and fucked up. This is a split release with Ut and Feral Kid Records.

NO///SE "BEACH BLANKET BINGO" 7" (1859)
Two new songs from Ventura, California's purveyor's of fist-pumping power-punk, No///Sé -- just in time for their European tour!!  Ex-Glass & Ashes, Young Livers - current Youth Brigade, Stop Breathing, split release with Different Kitchen in the UK, only 225 available in the US!

CHAOS CHANNEL "(MAGIC BULLET) THAT WORKS TO FEED THE PIG" 7" (SPHC)
You probably remember Chaos CH from their two classic 7"s on Overthrow Records, displaying a clear mastery of "noise punk" and becoming a textbook example for other bands to copy and take influence from. However, returning as CHAOSCHANNEL, they have moved beyond the boundaries and limitations of that terminology to create a uniquely new style of 'noise and dance'. And there's nothing we love more at SPHC than bands with their own unique sense of identity beyond genre exercising and copying.  Chaos Channel - How You’d Never Been So High? (But Then You’d Never Needed To Be?) CD from 2010 is possibly the best noisy punk record of our times, a really fresh and exciting take on a style they already mastered years ago. And this 7" single continues with these ideas. A meticulous recording of super catchy riffs fit into a bizarre and chaotic sense of songwriting and arrangements, with No. 6's instantly recognizable vocals belting out lyrics that border between absurd nonsense and high-art genius. Overall a totally unique punk rock experience for pogo and flight.

ABUSED, THE "LOUD AND CLEAR" LP (RADIO RAHEEM)
In 1983, a foursome of self-released seven inch ep’s came out of the Lower East Side of Manhattan that heralded a new breed of hardcore punk for New York. Agnostic Front’s ‘United Blood’, Antidote’s ‘Thou Shall Not Kill’, Cause For Alarm’s self-titled release and The Abused’s ‘Loud and Clear’ all defined the sound and aesthetic of New York Hardcore for years to come with their sonic brutality and fervent lyrics. Since then, all of these records have been re-issued barring the latterly mentioned ‘Loud and Clear’. That is, until now.  Radio Raheem proudly presents the first fully authorized re-issue of the ‘Loud and Clear’ ep. Pressed in the LP format, this 21-track collection is rounded out by the band’s 1982 demo and never before heard live material. Also included is a 24-page, full color booklet containing photos, lyrics and the band’s infamous show flyers drawn by their vocalist Kevin Crowley, as well as a sticker sheet of original Abused sticker designs. Finally, the most arcane and collectible piece of the early 80’s NYHC puzzle is available for both the tight pursed nerd and curious onlooker alike.

OUT COLD "A HEATED DISPLAY" LP (PAINKILLER)
The final recordings from Out Cold. These tracks were begun in 2005 shortly after the release of their "Goodbye Cruel World" LP, but after a long and tumultuous ride, were not finished until 2012. After the untimely passing of long-time singer Mark Sheehan, the master tapes fell to the wayside, presumed to be lost. The session was eventually rescued from the abyss by engineer David Minehan, and original frontman Kevin Mertens was brought in to lay down vocals. Half of the session's 28 tracks are represented here -- 14 songs, in a scant 20 minutes -- in the typical no-frills hardcore fashion that Out Cold perfected over their career.  Produced by the legendary Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, Richard Hell, etc).

SACRILEGE "IT'S TIME TO FACE THE REAPER: DEMOS 84-86" 2xLP (HAVOC)
Sacrilege emerged from the UK hardcore scene in the mid 80's. Featuring ex members of Warwound and Varukers, Sacrilege took the UK hardcore sounds of the day (Discharge, Varukers, Icons of Filth, Antisect) and mixed in a combination of powerful thrash and metal. The resulting mix was a high energy metal/hardcore hybrid which quickly stood apart from many of the other bands mixing punk and metal at the time. Sacrilege had the killer combination of epic metal songwriting with Tam's scorching female vocals and the power, passion and intensity of hardcore punk. This double LP (at a single LP price!) features four demos remastered for vinyl, unreleased bonus track, in a Crass Records style foldout poster sleeve.

AUTISTC YOUTH "NONAGE" LP (DIRTNAP)
Reigning from the burbs of Portland in late 2003, Autistic Youth has spent the past 10 years touring and releasing records in North America and Europe. After almost three years since their last full length record, Autistic Youth is releasing their junior LP. Drawing from both classic and obscure influences, "Nonage" is more refined, yet remains true to the sound they've had for so many years.  "Nonage" was recorded and produced by Autistic Youth, Adam Becker and Matthew Morgan at Red Lantern studios in Portland, OR this past winter. AY's upcoming west coast tour with Freedom Club begins in November with a European tour to follow in February. Watch out for a new 7" in early 2014.

ABRASIVE WHEELS "WHEN THE PUNKS GO MARCHING IN" LP (REAMP)
I'm gonna make a little editors note here ... I will admit, I JUST got into this band this year, and I don't think I've ever felt so stupid and embarrassed for not hearing such a "classic" band sooner. I'm not sure why it took me so to hear them, I've known the name pretty much since I got into punk, but for some reason I never gave em a listen. I don't think I've been this excited "discovering" an old classic in years. For all of you that know how incredible this band is, I'm sure you are hanging your head, shaking it at me in shame ... and I understand.  But for those of you who happen to be in the same boat as myself ... you need this LP in your life, plain and simple. Ok, end rant. "The Abrasive Wheels were one of the most influential bands to arise from the UK punk scene. Their early material became the blueprint by which many punk bands to this day build their sound from. When The Punks Go Marching In is widely accepted as their finest work and one of the greatest punk albums of that (or any) time. Re-Amp Records is proud to present a vinyl-only reissue of this, one of the most sought out pieces of punk vinyl in the world. In an effort to maintain historical accuracy and artistic integrity, it is being released exactly as it was in 1982 – no gimmicky picture discs, alternate takes, bonus tracks, or “re-vamped” artwork – just the original songs in the original packaging, exactly the way the punk gods intended."

BLITZ "VOICE OF A GENERATION" LP (PHR)
UK82! One of the premeir and defining Lps of the early 80's UK punk explosion. Vinyl re issue on PHR records. This record has really stood the test of time, hard hitting "street" punk with catchy melodies and sharp lyrical assaults. Total classic.

KURO "HARDCORE DAMNATION 1983-1986" LP (NOISE NOT MUSIC)
Probably the most bootlegged punk band of all times, KURO's cult remained unequalled over the years thanks to their hyper-violent live sets and the tightness of their noise-core. This is the vinyl version of the rare discography CD on the legendary King's World label, and features their entire 1983-1986 recordings. According to most, the best Japanese hardcore record ever!

FU'S "MY AMERICA/KILL FOR CHRIST" LP (FANCLUB)
What appears to be a fanclub version of these two classic early 80's Boston hc LPs on one convenient 12". Essential listening here.

LIBYANS, THE "EXPIRED LANGUAGE" LP (SORRY STATE)
It's been a while since we've heard from Boston's Libyans, but Expired Language proves that the passage of time and the increase of space between members hasn't blunted this band's attack at all. While not quite as frantic as A Common Place, you still get plenty of rapid-fire vocals and Dan's trademark epic snare rolls, but Expired Language is an entirely subtler and more melodic record than the previous one. The guitars in particular are stunning; dense and melodic without leaning on typical punk power chord tropes. And if you liked the big sing-alongs on A Common Place, then be prepared for Expired Language to knock you out, because the choruses on this record are truly epic. The mailorder version is limited to 165 copies on smoke-colored vinyl.

EXIT HIPPIES / LOTUS FUCKER - SPLIT LP (SPHC)
After recording delays, re-recordings, art delays, re-drawings, re-masterings, and then the inevitable pressing plant delays, summing to multiple years of process, we are extremely proud, pleased, and relieved to finally present this split record between two bands that both love noise, cute cartoon characters, and the KLF/Extreme Noise Terror 7”.  Exit Hippies is one of the most exciting raw punk bands around, carving out a totally unique scene and style of punk that knows no bounds and no fears, making punk music as they see fit, without compromise to style or expectation. Their material here is possibly their most brutal and harsh recordings yet, in the style that they are known and loved for. Absolute shit-fi unlistenable garbage Extreme Noise Terror/Sore Throat worship mixed with lo-fi minimalist acid/house techno. This recording contains some new songs (including a slow mosh jammer that I think if the first slow song they’ve ever written?), some old songs re-recorded (like usual), and all songs that make us grin from ear to ear and feel like life is still worth living.  Lotus Fucker produces their most claustrophobic, paranoid, and anxious material yet in their standard “noise hardcore” style, fueled by sleep deprivation, lack of sunlight, and poor dietary decisions. We will never be defined by others. Noise forever. Features artwork by Izak.

NEKROMANTIKER "S/T" LP (SPHC)
On their first LP, Nekromantiker continues to refine their fucking harsh noise punk style, mixing the song construction and style of classic noise punk heroes like Confuse and Gai with the sonic brutalities and effects-laden idealism of the Tokyo Sound System/New Smell scene (ie Exit Hippies, Filth Militia, Aostrapos, Stagnation, etc). The entire LP feels like the finely crafted product of a band in their prime. Mixing mid-tempo jammers with short/fast/loud hardcore shockers, straight-forward drums with obtuse/experimenting harsh noise guitars, their highest-fidelity recording yet with their best 'ghouls/skeletons/mushroom people' aesthetic yet, the result is an excellent genre exercise in "noise punk" that manages to bring a new perspective and unique personality to the canon

BOOM BOOM KID "MUSICA SIN LA INTERVENCION DE CRISTE" LP (SPHC)
Argentina’s pop-punk legends Boom Boom Kid are one of my top 3 favorite bands of all time. They’ve toured the USA four times now (and the rest of the planet Earth plenty of times too), but have always lacked any meaningful distribution in North America and have never had a substantive, comprehensive vinyl release in the USA until now (no offense intended to the EP on Hysteria that came out a few years back). This LP+flexi is a neat and tidy summation of one of the most unique, compelling, and important South American punk bands, and in our opinion one of the absolute best.  Drawing from each of the six Boom Boom Kid full-lengths, this release runs the gamut of what Boom Boom Kid is capable of, from sweet and beautiful pop-punk to blastbeat-and-breakdown hardcore to acoustic singer/songwriter to beat-oriented bedroom recordings and beyond, from explosive piss raw live recordings to pristine professional studio recordings, from minimalist weirdness to full-on melodic punk rockers and ragers, from classic hits that have been staples of their live shows for over a decade to sleeper hits tucked away in the 50th minute of the Frisbee CD to brand new songs that got their live debut here in America on their recent tour.

KREMLIN "LAST LAST EP" TAPE
The final release from Toronto's KREMLIN!

BIG EYES "ALMOST FAMOUS" TAPE (BURGER)
Here is the official cassette version of "Almost Famous" on the one and only Burger Records! The highly anticipated sophomore full length from Seattle's BIG EYES! With a solidified West Coast lineup, BIG EYES have stepped up their game with a more definitive sound and unified vision. "ALMOST FAMOUS" finds the band drawing even more of a hard rock influence, while maintaining both the pop sensibility and punk edge that you've come to know and love. Taking inspiration from a wide variety of bands ranging from 70's rock and roll staples like Kiss and Blue Oyster Cult, 70's and 80's power pop classics like The Nerves, The Shivvers and The Undertones, and 90's pop punk bands like Scared of Chaka and Mr. T Experience, the trio continue to develop their signature style - tastefully embracing the more glamorous aspects of rock and roll without compromising the attitude and grit.

PLATES "FOUR HORSEMEN OF BEAUTY: SINGLES COLLECTION" TAPE (FERAL KID)
"I might be biased and/or talking shit, but I give Plates credit and thanks for being the band that ushered in the resurgence of Buffalo's music scene around five years ago, which along with the Rust Belt Revolt years was the most exciting period of local action I've experienced. They were the band that bridged the gap between the Big Neck garage scene that was dying off (Furies, Blowtops, TPT) and brought it into the hardcore basements which begat bands like White Whale (and EFA before them), Mayday, Brown Sugar and others ... Unjustly under-appreciated, at least outside of Buffalo (and Cleveland). For whatever reasons, they might not have found what they were looking for outside of WNY, not for lack of trying ... Maybe their blue collar dirt was too honestly Rust Belt for the rest of the world.  ... The ultimate injustice is that this tape kicks off with their last recording session, three songs that are probably the best songs they wrote. "The Privelege of Bordeom", "To Pieces" and "First Teacher" are songs you probably heard live if you caught them during their last year, and offer a more streamlined and cleaner attack which is no less powerful than their earlier and dirtier tunes. They'd really become masters of their sound, and it's a shame they pulled the plug at the top of the hill. Or maybe that's what they wanted. I know I want these songs on vinyl. The rest of the tape compiles their three EPs, adds two unreleased earlier tunes ("With Teeth" being particularly notable) and some songs from a live on the radio set that sound great (with OG bass player Ross Vegas). As it stands, you absolutely need this for the three "new" songs and the rest is gravy. Sweet sweet gravy. Plates, I miss you already." - Rich / Terminal Boredom

PLEASURE LEFTISTS - DISCOGRAPHY TAPE (FERAL KID)
Compiling all recorded output thus far by this incredible band; their 12", new 7" single, and some unreleased songs. A must have. Killer tape by one of the best bands going today. Scum Stats: 300 units on white cassettes. no variant.

AARON AND THE BURRS "II" TAPE (FERAL KID)
"Buffalo basement surfers with two tapes worth of treble-instrumentals. Clean and low key recording with a couple of spy moves (including a Gray Matter cover) amongst mostly seaborne themes. Best song title: "Davy Jones' Hurt Locker". More SMOASP souding sharp-pickers than washed out reverb-twangers. "II" has some darker vibes and a Spotnicks cover. Well played and traditonal surf from a non-surf locale. The exact opposite of Thee Cormans. With member(s) of Space Wolves, go to the UT Records site for free downloads of this and the rest of their catalog." - Rich / Terminal Boredom

SPERM "NIGHTMARE LIFE" TAPE
The new breed of Buffalo hardcore, capturing the isolation and hopelessness of Western NY's forgotten industry.  Demented hardcore frenzy, not to be pinned down, with a diverse range of influences across the punk spectrum and beyond.

HYDE - DEMO TAPE
"There is something within all of us; a caged beast which delights in horror" and as any good punk band should, Hyde springs from these dark crevices. Kicking and spitting pure hardcore music, plain and simple; tough punk, cranked up, kept simple, and full of heavy hitting breaks, Hyde bridges the gap between all the ill early 2000s straight hardcore bands (No Justice, Think I Care, Striking Distance) and the darker/stranger side of 80s NYHC regulars (Citizen's Arrest, Born Against, Rorschach). A one-man-jam of seven cuts in thirteen minutes from a founding member of one of NY's finest, Brain Slug."

RESTOCKS FOR 12.13.13:

BAD SPORTS - BRAS LP
BLITZ - TIME BOMB (EARLY SINGLES COLLECTION)
CONFUSE - INDIGNATION LP
EXPLODING HEARTS - GUITAR ROMANTIC LP
MARKED MEN - GHOSTS LP

NIGHT BIRDS / Killer Waves surf shows and EP / Don Giovanni Showcase 2014
NIGHT BIRDS are taking a short break for the next couple of months, but they still have a few things planned to hold you all over until their return show in February.  They also have a TON more in the works for next year, including trips back to Europe and the West Coast.  Here is what's set for now!

KILLER WAVES (AKA Night Birds minus Brian while he is taking a newborn baby hiatus) will be playing 2 shows in December. All surf instrumental sets, including the instrumentals from our records, some covers, and some new ones! Info on one of those shows is listed below. We are also working on writing a new Night Birds 7" now ... It too will be all surf instrumentals, hence doing these shows as a bit of a warm up. We've wanted to do this for a while and now seems like the perfect time to finally execute. Won't be out till next year some time. More details to follow on that as well...

GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS / BLACK FRIDAY SALE 2013!!!!!

YES! Black Friday is here! As we all know, flat percentage Black Friday sales are BORING! Sure, I guess I could make some sort of "coupon code" or something LAME, but that's no fun. I don't understand why any label owner wouldn't want to stay up until 5:00 am on Thanksgiving night individually marking down over 500 titles?!?!?!?!? Where's the damn dedication? Or ... maybe I'm just bitter because my store doesn't let me actually MAKE coupon codes. Damn you, webstore, damn you.

Anyways ... the GRAVE MISTAKE 2013 BLACK FRIDAY SALE is in full effect! Most of the package deals will be good through the weekend as will the sale prices on all of the Grave Mistake / Vinyl Conflict / No Way titles. Almost all of the distro sale prices are set for good though, so take your time no rush, but do keep in mind a lot of that sale stuff I am down to my last copy.

Here are all of the fun details; I've got over 500 discounted distro titles, discounted Grave Mistake package deals, some special Black Friday package deals, some GRAB BAG deals, some FREE stuff, and other fun stuff as well. Here's the breakdown:

GRAVE MISTAKE DISTRO TITLES ON SALE!

GRAVE MISTAKE WEBSTORE / BLACK FRIDAY DISTRO TITLE SALE

Yup, over 500 7"s and LPs from the Grave Mistake distro are on sale ... and I am not messing around, I have a TON of $1 and $2 7"s, a ton of $5 LPs, and more ... and this year I've confined them all to their own category for your browsing convenience. There is a lot of cool stuff in there, although some of it is a bit older I'm sure you'll find a few records that you maybe meant to pick up and never did, or just something you may have never heard before that sparks your interest enough to take a chance on. I've conveniently also made a list of all of the distro titles on sale (sadly, just the names not the prices). That list can be found here:

http://gmblackfriday2013.blogspot.com/

GRAVE MISTAKE RELEASES ON SALE!

GRAVE MISTAKE RELEASES / BLACK FRIDAY PACKAGE DEALS
GRAVE MISTAKE RELEASES / BLACK FRIDAY PRICING

As always with my Black Friday sales, almost every Grave Mistake title is on sale to some extent.  The only exceptions are the colored versions of stuff that came out this year, several older titles I'm almost out of, and the Hard Stripes 7" because that just came out (BUT you can catch a deal on it in one of the package deals). I'm also once again giving away free stuff! Same as last year, for EVERY $50 worth of stuff you order in the store (before shipping), you get to pick a free Grave Mistake 7".  For every $75, you get to pick a free Grave Mistake LP (AND the Free 7" thing STILL applies too). You just need to add the respective items to your order, and select your free choices from the lists in the item descriptions here:

FREE GRAVE MISTAKE 7" for every $50 you spend!
FREE GRAVE MISTAKE LP for every $75 you spend!

SURPRISE GRAB BAG!

I'm also trying something NEW this year, I've got a few 7" GRAB BAG options for you as well. They are:

PICK 1 (GET 10) for $20
PICK 2 (GET 20) for $30
PICK 3 (GET 30) for $40

Yup, you get to pick 1-3 Grave Mistake 7"s (depending on the deal you choose) from the Grave Mistake 7" Title List in the description, and I'm going to throw in a bunch of random 7"s. Perfect if you are too busy/lazy to pick your own sale records or just want to be surprised! I get to pick the random grab bag titles.  I'll of course also throw in some stickers, maybe a koozie or something (yes, I have secret GM koozies). Sounds fun, huh?

PACKAGE DEALS!

Here are the other awesome deals I'm running (prices do not include shipping):

Any 5 Grave Mistake 7"s for $15
Any 10 Grave Mistake 7"s for $25
Any 3 Grave Mistake LPs for $25
Pick one 7" and one LP that Grave Mistake released in 2013 for $11
All 3 Vinyl Conflict Label 7" releases for $10

BIG EYES three record package deal on sale for $15
DIRECT CONTROL two record package deal on sale for $9
GOVERNMENT WARNING four record package deal on sale for $18
NIGHT BIRDS three LP package deal on sale for $25
SCHOOL JERKS two record package deal on sale for $12
SECTARIAN VIOLENCE two record package deal on sale for $12

PLUS almost every CD in the Grave Mistake distro is on sale, most of them for HALF PRICE! Most of those prices will be good through the weekend only.

I think that's it ... hopefully you find something worth picking up and remember Christmas is right around the corner, and records make great gifts!

Thanks for reading!

WEBSTORE UPDATE! GREEN BERET, DIE, SUPERCRUSH, 7 SECONDS, and MORE!

Greetings! Here is a quick but awesome webstore update for you. I WILL have some cool webstore deals going on for BLACK FRIDAY in a few days, so look for those late tomorrow night!  I will have a few cool package deals on Grave Mistake titles, plus a TON of deals on some distro titles as well ... I pulled 7 boxes of 7"s and 4 boxes of LPs that are going to get the "sale treatment" and I assure you there is some great stuff in there, maybe just a few years old or some bands that are not too popular with the regular GM customer base (you know how it goes) ... either way if you are looking for an excuse to check out some new bands for a good price, Friday will be the day for you.  I'll also have a few deals like last year that will include some free records. Anyways, you'll get the details in a couple of days ...

I will also have a nice little "Grave Mistake Bands" update next week as well ... we've got some bands doing really cool stuff over the course of the next few months, so stay tuned for that. And then of course mid December you'll get my 2014 preview ... some releases you've been patiently waiting for as well as a few new "official" announcements for upcoming releases.

Finally, we started taking mailorder on the HARD STRIPES 7", the third release on the Vinyl Conflict Label ... you can now stream the record in full over at the Grave Mistake Bandcamp page and the record should be getting out to your favorite stores and distros over the course of the next few weeks! We still have a handful of copies on WHITE VINYL in the webstore, so pick it up if you haven't yet.

That's all of the news for now, expect those other updates soon!

WHAT'S NEW FOR 11/27/2013:

http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/products_new.php

This week's update is short but stacked nonetheless ... it seems like my favorite releases of the year are always the ones that pop up in the last few months, and 2013 is no exception. We've got the brand new 7" from GREEN BERET, an incredible follow up to last year's 12", housed in a slick tip-on sleeve. I was lucky enough to catch them a couple of weeks ago, and damn they were sick.  Pick this new EP up, and the 12" too if you have been slacking. Also highly recommended is the debut 7" from the UK's DIE ... killer no bullshit hardcore done right, as the description below indicates. Well worth the import price tag, trust me.

We've got a few killer reissues in this update as well, including three 7 SECONDS 7"s courtesy of LIFELINE RECORDS, some LIPCREAM reissues, and a reissue of the LOST KIDS "Cola Freaks" 7".  Other new releases of note include the first LP (following two awesome singles) from THE LOVE TRIANGLE which is stellar (I am spinning it as I type this), a rad MERCHANDISE "BBC Sessions" 12", the new CHURCH WHIP 7", the second EP from Canada's BORN WRONG, newest COLUMN OF HEAVEN 7", MIND SPIDERS "Sister Series" 7" on Razorcake, and more!

Finally, possibly my favorite single of 2013, is the debut two song 7" from SUPERCRUSH ... I see descriptions calling it "90's FUZZ POP" I guess that's pretty accurate.  It reminds me of SWERVEDRIVER mixed with all of your favorite parts from bands like DINOSAUR JR., SMASHING PUMPKINS, and other 90's Alt-Rock ("shoegaze" maybe?) maybe even a hint of later era MEGA CITY FOUR or DOUGHBOYS.  Lots of guitar and lots of vocal melody, makes for one catchy as hell single.  If any of those bands interest you, I strongly recommend you check this record out.

That's all for now, expect some more updates in a few days! Thanks for reading!

NEW IN THE WEBSTORE FOR 11.27.13

GREEN BERET "THE CULT OF STATE" 7"
Green Beret picks up right where the “Violence Is Their Currency” 12” left off, delivering another dose of pummeling no-frills hardcore punk with "The Cult of State" EP.  The sound is firmly rooted in the past (think “Another Religion, Another War” filtered through “Dehumanization”) but Green Beret takes the frantic energy of the previous 12inch, and add a more aggressive recording for their strongest material yet. If you’re looking for triviality, look elsewhere.  “The Cult of State” is a six-track glimpse at a horrifying future.  (SIDE TWO)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6344

DIE "S/T" 7"
One of the best 7"s this year out of the UK! Six tracks of early 80's US/UK hardcore punk worship. Nothing new here but hard blistering punk for both the angry and the jaded. Think DISCHARGE meets SSD.  Intense Hard Core with nods to both Boston and Bristol. A total 6 track ripper which will surely please any ripping jams lover. (SONIC TERROR DISCS)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6345

SUPERCRUSH "LIFTED" 7"
Although best known for playing in a long lineage of hardcore, punk, and metal bands, MARK PALM’s focus has always been song- craft and pop sensibility. After finally embracing all that is sweet and sublime as the primary songwriter of San Francisco's shoegaze darlings MODERN CHARMS, Palm continues to explore the saccharine side of things with this new project, SUPERCRUSH. Two blissful, hook-filled, syrupy-fuzz-pop anthems reminiscent of early Swervedriver. So classically '90s, yet so now. (BEDSIDE)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6337

CHURCH WHIP "FINAL" 7"
When a story ends, there is usually closure, a final chapter that wraps things up nicely. This is more like a wound that hasn’t healed, still bleeding with no gauze or bandage. Violently thrashing their way into the future, Church Whip leaves us with this final statement. The mission is terminated. (VINYL RITES)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6336

BORN WRONG "HOLDING CELL" 7"
Holding Cell, a frantic follow up to their debut S/T 7″, again harnesses the band’s untameable live show. This steamroller never loses momentum as they charge through five angry and honest mid-tempo rippers. BORN WRONG proves hardcore doesn’t have to be blown out and drowning in feedback to be aggressive. A smart, progressive, and agitating follow up release. These wild fucks will be venturing on their third US tour in October 2013. Expect to feel uneasy but satisfied. (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6331

COLUMN OF HEAVEN "HOLY THINGS ARE FOR THE HOLY" 7"
Rather than the power violence slab you were hoping for, COLUMN OF HEAVEN has decided to conjure two works of cultish outsider industrial music that demands your complete attention. Using standard instrumentation, power electronics, elements of unexplained phenomena and found sounds from down below, CoH raised the bar above and beyond all expectation making the path to follow a rocky and unpredictable maze of torment. This record is not for you. It's for them. Calculated and inaccessible. Now on clear vinyl. Only 150 more copies were made. That will be it for this record.  (IRON LUNG)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6335

LOST KIDS "COLA FREAKS" 7"
One of the first and most prolific Danish punk groups, LOST KIDS formed in 1978 in Aarkus. They recorded 4 singles and 2 LPs in a style heavily influenced by UK punk however the second single "Cola Freaks" is perhaps their finest moment. Band members in monster makeup! Blistering guitar solos! Rezillos-style male/female vocals! And a note for note tribute to Los Trios Parinoias "Snuffin Like That" in the song "Radden Dig"! A truly unique and highly sought after piece of Danish punk rock history back in print for all. (SING SING)

LIP CREAM "LONELY ROCK" 7"
Official Reissue!!! Classic Japanese Hardcore! (FUUDOBRAIN)

DIAT "EVERYDAY" 7"
Our friends from Berlin return with a bursting melancholic post punk single to hold us over until the Energy LP is completed. This is lucky for all of us since the band members almost moved to different continents a few months ago. The drive to stay together is too immense and has crept in to the recording to made a water-tight double sided chest punch of an e.p. Thanks DIÄT, we knew we could count on you. (IRON LUNG)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6334

NEEDLES "DESESPERACION" 7"
A sniper will lay in wait indefinitely until the target presents himself. It's that quiet, calculating reflection and refinement that truly makes a master craftsman. This mission has been in the works for many years and the calm has paid off. 6 precise shots of furious bay area hardcore by a lethal mix of Talk Is Poison and Limp Wrist members slowly breathing out and finally squeezing the trigger. It's proof that if you believe in something and apply your skill set it will succeed. (IRON LUNG)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6333

MIND SPIDERS "SISTER SERIES" 7"
What happens when the term “post-punk” is used descriptively and not just as an elitist badge to differentiate oneself with “punk”? Well, you could easily and accurately be describing the machinist, introspective music of the Mind Spiders. No one ever asked the toaster what it wanted for breakfast, or complimented the turbine generator on its beautiful humming. The Mind Spiders’ music is right underneath your nose, and still light years off into the distance. Let the synths swallow you whole. Embrace the chaotic rhythms of two of the southwest’s most daring bands. This isn’t the kinda punk they talk about on Donahue. (RAZORCAKE)

DEFEND HAMILTON: EAT SHIT - V/A - COMPILATION 7"
Eight Hamilton HC outfits unleash eight short blasts about Steeltown’s seedier side with tracks about Evelyn Dick, Loujack Cafe, mobsters, & more local mayhem. This is a short, fast and loud follow up to Schizophrenic’s DESTROY MUSIC: Start Your Own Band 12” 2012 compilation. Features LEFT FOR DEAD, BORN WRONG, PICK YOUR SIDE, and more! (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6332

SNAKECHARMER "S/T" 7"
SNAKE CHARMER strangles you with nine bursts of reckless despondency. These blown out charging psalms characterize the current climate of Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Written for beings of another world, SNAKE CHARMER’s freshman release remind the listener that you are fighting a losing battle of victim vs victimizer. Combining elements SEPTIC DEATH, LOU REED’s Metal Machine, and blast beats that sound like you are pulverizing your knuckles on a rusty stairwell as Hep C infests your soul. Enjoy/regret at maximum volume. (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6330

BRETT SMILEY "VA VA VA VOOM" 7"
For every David Bowie, Brian Ferry or Marc Bolan, there were scores of glam divas-in-waiting like Jobriath and Brett Smiley. At least Jobriath, the world's first openly-gay rock star, got a chance to release two monstrously campy and epic LPs before public backlash silenced him forever. The winsome and sinewy Brett Smiley did not fare as well, recording Breathlessly Brett during a flurry of interest by the international music press, only to have the album cruelly pushed aside by an uncaring record industry and shelved permanently. Smiley was the willowy, blonde personification of glam, discovered and promoted like a classic Hollywood ingénue by Rolling Stones producer Andrew Loog Oldham. Oldham's vision for Smiley was to elevate the young man to the rarefied status of untouchable superstar before his first single was out. This single, originally released in 1974 on the UK Anchor label stands as one of the best glam rock 45's of the era, reissued for the first time in it's original, very hard to find picture sleeve. (SING SING)

GUILT PARTY "S/T" 7"
Seven inch release from recently defunct Houston hardcore crazies. Side 1 contains the first cassette release "Basement Church" and Side 1 contains cassette only release "Topical Depression." Originally 200 were to be pressed but United Record Pressing broke the stampers and only 120 were made. (AGROWAX)

SLAG "S/T" 7"
Coming out of Chicago and featuring members of Broken Prayer, Libyans, Siamese twins, Outside World, Mac Blackout and Hawaiian punch, SLAG play a vicious style of hardcore punk not unlike they're midwest forefathers THE FIX and ARTICLES OF FAITH. Four fast and tight rippers with a healthy dose of romping and stomping. This band put out one of or favorite demos of last year and this record just sounds so much meaner. Very excited about this one. (HESITATION WOUND)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6326

ANGRY GODS “GREYED DELAY" 7"
After releasing a crushing demo in 2012, ANGRY GODS are back to wreck havoc on our eardrums with their debut single, “Greyed Delay//The Swell”. This 7” picks up right where they left off with their demo, but this recording seems to capture the heaviness and intensity of the band's live show more than their previous efforts. Featuring ex-members of BOILING OVER, MANS and SCOUT'S HONOR. For fans of HIS HERO IS GONE, CURSED and NEUROSIS. Recorded with Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios (WEEKEND NACHOS, HARMS WAY and DEAD IN THE DIRT). (NERVOUS HABIT)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6327

BAD SIDE "EVERYBODY WANTS SOMETHING FROM ME" 7"
Debut 7” by this Philadelphia powerhouse. This quintet blurs the lines of several different kinds of hardcore to create something of their own. They have melodic parts that remind me of the TURNING POINT LP, and groovy mosh parts that could've been played by YOUTH OF TODAY in 1988. The vocals kind of remind me of Dave Smalley ala DAG NASTY several times throughout the record. Featuring members of CONGENITAL DEATH, HOUND, LOW CHARGE and THE HOLIDAYS. (NERVOUS HABIT)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6328

MERCHANDISE "THE BBC SESSIONS" LP
Limited 4-song 12" featuring songs recorded by Merchandise for the BBC at their legendary Maida Vale Studios. I'm stoked they did my absolute favorite Merch song, "Anxiety's Door," and it's even better than it is on Totale Nite, with more of an organic rhythm (courtesy of REAL LIVE DRUMMER Elsner) and a little bit of a jammy feel to the guitars. Production-wise, this is right in line with the style you know and love from countless releases of BBC sessions from bands through the decades... i.e. it's slightly more raw and looser than the official studio material, but with none of the compromises in fidelity that you get with a proper live recording. Pretty darn essential if you're a Merchandise fan... looks like this is pretty limited, too, so I would snag it quickly if you want one. (FANCLUB)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6322

LOVE TRIANGLE, THE "CLEVER CLEVER" LP
Heretofore, the Love Triangle's recordings have been marked by a particularly raw, aggressive, and even ugly take on classic power pop. Sure, the choruses were huge, but the recordings were ear-splittingly raw and aggressive. However, they've changed things up a bit for their first long-player, opting for a cleaner recording that assures nothing is lost in the translation to wax. The essential elements are still there--Tim's four-on-the-floor drumming, Josh's meandering walking bass lines, and Louis's thrillingly melodic vocals and guitar--but you can actually hear them all rather than just inferring their presence through a wall of feedback and fuzz. The effect is a full-length that recalls the classic songwriting of Nuggets greats like the Electric Prunes and the Seeds as much as it does the more melodic end of the '77 set like Protex, the Lurkers, and the Boys. An LP so good that we don't even need to tell you the band is members of Diat, Good Throb, Die, No, The Smear, CCTV and ex-Shitty Limits to get you to buy it. (SORRY STATE)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6320

LIP CREAM "EARLY YEARS GIG" LP
Official live album for these classic 80's Japanese punks/thrashers.  Comes in a poster sleeve! (FUUDOBRAIN)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6323

LIVERPOOL ECHO "S/T" LP
A perfect pair alongside Rockin' Horse's 'Yes It Is,' the self-titled album by The Liverpool Echo makes a swaggering assertion for the enduring power and captivation of the early Mersey styles of McCartney & Lennon. The idea was simple: make a hit record in the early, authentic style of the band with the most hits of all time!! THE BEATLES – and use said record as a springboard to capitalize on the ten-year anniversary of their birth. And do it cheaply. And in only one week.  While The Liverpool Echo proved perhaps too late to ferry 'cross the Mersey and too early to dilate its pupils to Starry Eyes, the record they left behind remains the most wonderfully rocking cenotaph to the original Cavern Club 'moment' that I have ever encountered. So you might as well surrender. It's for you! (SING SING)

GUNNAR HANSEN / UTI - SPLIT LP
Hamilton’s own GUNNAR HANSEN follow up their sold out debut 7″ with their passionate and sincere, guitar driven fast hardcore. A strong dual guitar attack built over driving bass lines pound at your ears while their negative lyrics peck at your eyes.  Following their scorching tracks on the Toronto’s Burning compilation, U.T.I. turns up the insanity! Frantic pounding, shredding, fist pumping hardcore with speed changes and possessed female vocals make for a unique thrash attack.  This rager is packaged in awesome cover art by Scott Bentz, coloured by Stef Bell, & jacket design by Darrin Cosgrove. (SCHIZOPHRENIC)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6321

HATRED SURGE "HUMAN OVERDOSE" LP
HATRED SURGE has been around for a while but only release an LP when it is truly ready. During the session, Alex described this recording to us as "a rhino on pcp" and we cannot disagree. This current back to basics 3 piece phase of HS sees a much more apparent death metal influence but still retains the "grinding violence" stylings they are known (and loved) for. Make no mistake, this LP will smash you. (IRON LUNG)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6324

CRIME WAVE "NAZI SEX" LP
Latest 12" from this Houston band that comes from the same scene as bands like Secret Prostitutes and No Talk. Very similar to No Talk, but even more catchy and melodic, Crime Wave remind me of prime-era Turbonegro (i.e. Ass Cobra) in the way that they take the basic sound of kind of 90s noise rock-type stuff and make it way catchier and more punk. This is total fist-banging, singalong stuff. Totally killer. (AGROWAX)

MAXIMUMROCKNROLL #367 - DEC 2013
Another year is done, so let’s tell 2013 to fuck off with a new issue! MRR #367 is out now! UK Anarcho punk band THE MOB reminisce about the ’80s anarcho punk scene and talk about their new single, “Rise Up!” and London’s GOOD THROB smash misconceptions about their sound and the ladies in the band discuss how they are received in the punk community. PURE DISGUST - DEMO TAPE
DC has seen a lot of young punks take the reins and start some awesome bands and we have been lucky enough to witness it all. Pure Disgust is at the top of that heap. Mixing some mean as shit hardcore punk with seriously catchy oi, this demo is a rager and a stomper for sure. For fans of Blitz, SSD, and of course, 86 Mentality.

MEANS WELL "DON'T DREAM" TAPE
This is the debut release for MEANS WELL. The band features an ex member of Calormen (HRVRD, Wretched). This new band brings to mind the Weakerthans, Butterglory, Promise Ring, and other 90s indie/rock that we all love. (SELF AWARE)
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6314

VIOLENT MINDS - SINGLES COLLECTION CD
This CD complies both the self-titled 7" on the now defunct My War records and the "Riot" 7" as well as "Hit List" from the Town Of Hardcore comp (12 tracks in total). Liner notes by the one and only Thousand Dollar Brian. This will be a nice little appetizer for the soon to be releases "Eyes Of Death" LP due out on Parts Unknown in a few months and the "We Are Nothing" LP coming sometime in fall. Sick layout by the truly talented Ben West. As long time hardcore groupie and overall music historian Don Rettman put it (he got his leg broke at a Circle Jerks show in like '81 by a member of Autistic Behavior) "Pig Champion did not die in vain". I agree. (PARTS UNKNOWN)

BLOOD PATROL "FROM BEYOND AND BELOW" CD
Debut album (summer 2013) from this new thrash metal/punk band from Germany. They exist since 2010, but members of the band are true veterans of German DIY hardcore punk/metal scene, having played in various bands (NARSAAK, DEAD BEAT, SKELETON ARMY, GOLDEN GORILLA etc.) since early '90s. Musically take early SLAYER and EXODUS and add various hardcore influences like DISCHARGE, CRO-MAGS and SEPTIC DEATH. Features 8 songs from the sensational demo 2010 on the CD version bonus tracks. 18 songs of pure thrash assault!! (DRUNK WITH POWER)

OUT COLD "A HEATED DISPLAY" CD
OUT COLD were one of the legendary Boston hardcore punk bands, from 1989 until 2010, with the death of singer Mark Sheehan. “A Heated Display” is the bands lost seventh album, and was recorded before disbanding. Kevin Mertens, who sang on the very first OUT COLD album back in 1994 was brought in to record the vocals on this final recording, and is archetypal blistering hardcore punk, recorded under the watchful eye of Daniel Ray (RAMONES, ADRENALIN OD, GANG GREEN etc). (DRUNK WITH POWER)

GERM ATTAK "FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN" CD
Fourth and final full length album 2011 of this Canadian punks! "I’m hearing/reading from various sources that this is the final record from these guys. Too bad, I suppose. I thought they were pretty damn good, and had a few more worthy releases in them. This record is no different than anything they’ve done before, but it’s still worth getting, and, if anything, this album only underscores how great they were at what they were doing: early ‘80s punk rock U.K. (via present day Quebec) style like what you would here from labels like Riot City and Clay. The music is charged full of energy, the delivery is urgent and confident, and they blast from song to song without much pause. “Demented Killer” is a rager with its racing tempo, and the bass running just underneath the guitar, but not too far down to disappear. “Face the Reaper” is a bona fide classic. I use that word sparingly, but I can promise you will hear people talk about this song in years to come. So f’n good! It’s one of the songs that I immediately replay as soon as it’s over. Crank this up and get caught in the whirlwind of songs like “Dead or Alive,” the insane “Crown Attorney,” and “Poisonous Lifestyle.” The when the record is over, start the process over again. Love this record! One of my top ten for 2011." - Razorcake (DRUNK WITH POWER)

GERM ATTAK "THE PUNK SINGLES COLLECTION" CD
Compilation of all their 7" EPs 2006-2010. 16 pages booklet with all artworks and lyrics. 26 songs total! Review: "The simplest thing to say about this Canadian punk band is that they are punk-as-fuck!! It appears that they have only been around for about five years, yet amassed an impressive discgoraphy already of about five 7"s that yields 26 tracks on this appropriately named Punk Singles Collection. This is the kind of stuff that I would have slam-danced my ass off ot when I was a teenager. I'm admittedly too old to truly appreciate it at shis point in my life as I'm slowing down a bit, but for anyone who is into the spiky-haired, studded black leather and denim type of punk rock, then this is definitely something worth checking out with the one-two drumming and choppy guitars and bass sound of older '80s UK punk and American hardcore." NEW RELEASE: HARD STRIPES 7" Out Now on VINYL CONFLICT!

HARD STRIPES "S/T" 7" E.P. (VC003)
Out Now on the VINYL CONFLICT LABEL!

The third release on the VINYL CONFLICT Record Label is out now! We've got the debut 7" EP from RVA's Hard Stripes in our hands and ready to go. Hard Stripes have been kicking around for a few years now, and after teasing us with a couple of demos we are stoked to finally be releasing their debut 7".  Five tracks of some tough as nails no bullshit hardcore, check out the track we have posted up on the Grave Mistake Bandcamp Page.

We've got some limited WHITE VINYL available for mailorder, and if you happen to find yourself in the Richmond area, stop on by Vinyl Conflict Record Store and grab a copy (they have white vinyl as well).  As you may have heard, myself and Vinyl Conflict shop owner Bobby Egger restarted the VC record label this year to give you a taste of what's been going on in Richmond, VA recently. For most of the label's releases, we will be introducing you to some of our favorite active hardcore and punk bands (or inactive, cough cough DEVIL'S HAND) that have been keeping this city interesting over the past few years. We have some cool stuff lined up for 2014, and hopefully we will be able to bring you some releases from some newer bands as well as household RVA names as well.

If you ever find yourself in town (possibly on December 7th for COKE BUST, UNHOLY THOUGHTS, MERCENARY, BARGE, and PROTESTER at Strange Matter) do yourself a favor and swing by Vinyl Conflict at 324 South Pine Street. Bobby has free candy on the counter ... he might try to talk to you though so just nod your head and smile. They also sell lots of records, tapes, shirts (both sleeved and desleeved), patches, pins, and other cool stuff that punk kids like. But, free candy.

GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS NEWS!

Some quick news and then I'll let you get to your weekend! The new Brain F≠ "Empty Set" LP should hopefully be out next month, we'll keep you updated as the release date draws closer, but definitely keep an eye out for it before the year is up.

Sadly, it's looking like the 86 Mentality and Striking Distance LPs will be pushed to early next year. Trust me, I wanted to have them in your hands before 2013 was up, but I can't see that happening. I ASSURE you both will be well worth the wait, so thanks for being patient!

Night Birds played their final show of 2013 on WFMU last weekend and you should be able to still stream the show on the FMU website. Night Birds are taking it easy for the remainder of the year and early 2014 while Brian becomes a father, but expect them to be out and about once again by Spring of next year!

Big Eyes just returned from their first European tour! I have yet to get the full scoop, but from the updates I got while the band was on the road, things seemed to have gone pretty well. Thanks to everyone involved in making that tour happen.  Big Eyes will be heading out on tour AGAIN at the end of this month so stay tuned for the full info on that in the next couple of weeks!

The Coke Bust "Confined" 12" has been getting a lot of great feedback so thanks to everyone who's checked out the record! We are running very low on the colored vinyl however we still have a few copies in the GM store so if you haven't grabbed one yet, do it! You can read a couple of recent Coke Bust interviews over at NOISEY and PUNKNEWS, and the band will also be laying low towards the end of the year before heading out for a Brazilian tour early 2014! Also Nick and Chris have announced the first round of bands for DAMAGED CITY FEST which will be happening for the second year in a row next April, in good ol' Washington DC. We will keep you updated on both of those events over the next couple of months.

Finally, the Red Dons "Notes on the Underground" 7" has been getting some great feedback as well, and we also have a few copies on the limited color vinyl left in the store. The European version on Taken By Surprise Records is also now available, so be sure to grab a copy from Michl if that's more convenient for you!

On a final note, we've added a few distro items to the webstore since the last update, including the CRIMINAL INSTINCT Demo 7", four awesome reissues courtesy of UGLY POP (Cockney Rejects, The Business, and Stiv Bators), as well as a few new releases from DEAD BEAT Records. I also picked up a few copies of the incredible new BELGRADO LP, and restocked on the RED DONS "A Forced Turning Point" 7". Full info is below, so check it out and thanks for reading!!! Have a great weekend!

NEW WEBSTORE TITLES FOR 11.08.13:

BELGRADO "SIGLO XXI" LP (LA VIDA ES UN MUS)
Barcelona's Belgrado return with their second album 'Siglo XXI' and first for La Vida Es Un Mus. The 11 track album melds dark and dreamy goth and post punk with a stunning and clear production. The bass leads and drives each track into the batcave whilst the vocals yearn and ache on top. This record has a clear 80's English influence (Killing Joke, Vex, A Touch of Hysteria, Blood and Roses etc) but it also very modern day Barcelona with the reverb as important as an instrument and totally DIY. 2011's excellent self titled LP has been bettered in sound, production and song. The LP comes in a thick black and white sleeve with artwork from drummer Jonathan also including a 30x30 insert, an extra lyric sheet and a 40x55 poster.

TOTALLY SLOW "S/T" LP (SELF AWARE)
Totally Slow is a band that came out of nowhere (at least for me) and really stole Self Aware's heart. Their guitar-sound is surfy in that Descendents way, and even a little bit of Dead Kennedys? Then throw it in a Superchunk blender and lightly sauce it with early 90s Lookout! Records punk. Sorry about the cooking references, it might seem really clear that I don't know what I'm doing in the kitchen.  It turns out these guys did not come out of nowhere, but instead have played in many many bands. Rights Reserved, Eagle Bravo, Manamid, and Decoration Ghost might ring a few bells?

CRIMINAL INSTINCT "DEMO" 7"
Ripping demo from Atlanta's CRIMINAL INSTINCT now on vinyl!

COCKNEY REJECTS "FLARES 'N SLIPPERS" 7" (UGLY POP)
Released on Small Wonder in 1979, this unassuming slab signalled the emergence of a new genre, kickstarting both the Rejects' career and the entire oi movement. Debuting with three tracks of quick, raw and exuberant punk rock clearly inspired by the likes of Cock Sparrer, UK Subs and Sham 69, Cockney Rejects went on to sign with EMI and write a number of all time classics, but this is where it all started. High-quality authorised reissue, taken from the masters and packaged in full colour jacket. (UP043)

BUSINESS, THE "HARRY MAY" 7" (UGLY POP)
One of the three or four all-time great oi singles, this debut 45 from the seminal skinhead band exploded out of east London in 1981, pairing up two 100% monster street punk tracks and spending three months in the UK indie charts, peaking at #13. The Business have gone on to release many genre classics since, but this will always be their finest moment, and remains essential for fans of pure punk rock. High-quality authorised reissue, taken from the masters and in the iconic original sleeve. (UP044)

STIV BATORS / DAVID QUINTON "MAKE UP YOUR MIND" 7" (UGLY POP)
Invited by Dead Boys frontman Stiv Bators to play on his upcoming solo LP in 1979, teenaged Toronto punk rock drummer David Quinton was soon in LA, recording and writing for what was to become Stiv's classic“ Disconnected” LP . One of Quinton's songs, “Make Up Your Mind”, was a highlight of the record, so when Quinton found himself recording his own solo LP a couple years later, he decided to rerecord a new version. This limited 45 backs the 1979 Bators version with the 1981 Quinton version, and puts a classic power pop punk song of that era on the 45RPM single it always deserved. Four pages of extensive liner notes and unseen photos from Quinton's personal stash, one-time-only press of 500!

STIV BATORS' DEAD BOYS "LAST STAND 1980" 7" (UGLY POP)
When erstwhile DEAD BOYS Stiv Bators and Jimmy Zero decided to give it another shot with a summer 1980 US tour, they assembled a pretty crack backing band-- George Cabaniss (Hammer Damage) on guitar, Frank Secich (Blue Ash) on bass and David Quinton (Mods, Arson) on drums-- and proceeded to take it on the road. Over thirty years later, Quinton has remastered the original excellent-quality board tapes from three of the shows to come up with incediary takes on all-time American punk rock monsters “Son Of Sam”, “Third Generation Nation” and “All This And More”. 100% authorised release with four-age insert featuring extensive liners and unseen pictures!

MODERN PETS "SORRY, THANKS" LP (DEAD BEAT)
Berlin fuck ups the MODERN PETS stab out their own little corner of cool with their newest Ritalin-rampant rager 'Sorry. Thanks'.  Mixing the best elements of late-'70s/ early '80s Punk and adding their own little sparkling dash of NOW!  Germany's finest unleash a  dynamic album with fervent hooks, scratchy, corkscrewed guitar solos with a manic hyperactive personality that really sounds like no other band than the MODERN PETS.  By taking the snot-filled humor of the Dickies,  a smear of street grime from the Adverts, and a kiss of  pop seduction from the Buzzcocks and Generation X; the MODERN PETS create a timeless arsenal of degenerate-mutated Punk Rock hits.   Contagiously, catchy tunes from the newest heirs to the Deutstchpunk throne.

HUFF STUFF MAGAZINE "SUGAR MOUNTAIN" LP (DEAD BEAT)
Check out this Punk Rock, Snot Rocket shot straight outta the back alleys of Oakland. Total Bay Area rager featuring members of Neon Piss, Knifey Spooney and the Ringers. This things got early East Bay, Pop Punk smeared all over it. If Lookout Records were still in it's hey day, HUFF STUFF MAGAZINE would be one of those bands that Livermore would put out and people would freak the fuck out over. The riffs are tuff, the hooks are bouncy and the tunes are a lil rough around the edges, but sooooo damn good. If bands like Pinhead Gunpowder, Crimpshrine, Cringer and early Green Day mean anything to ya, HUFF STUFF MAGAZINE are swimming in that same Punk infected cesspool of awesomeness. Total banger for the wet brains.

THEE MIGHTY FEVERS "FUCK'IN GREAT RNR" LP (DEAD BEAT)
Well fuck my ears if this thing isn't great. Decending from the same depraved Japanese Garage Punk royalty as greats like Teengenerate, the Registrators and Guitar Wolf; Kobe's THEE MIGHTY FEVERS check in with one of the most impressive debuts I've heard in a long time. THEE MIGHTY FEVERS are all about ugly riffs spittin' raw, savage Punk Rock toughness and they got no qualms about shoving their ferocious, Rock N Roll fuck fest down your throat. Their music is caked in the Pagans, Dead Boys, early GG and the Ramones and the whole thing sounds like a crackling, mess of Riff N Roll supremacy. They approach each song with damn near Hardcore velocity and the end result is snarling, feedback soaked, Rock N Roll filth from a band that you can tell has done their homework. 13 punishing blasts of Garage gutted Punk Rock. Teengenerate fans need.

SHARK TOYS "S/T" LP (DEAD BEAT)
Inner city mutations reign supreme on this shambolic, scuzz-pop ripper from bowels of Los Angeles.  Throbbing bass, jagged guitars, and dreary vocals anchor each tune with grimy proto punk toughness and clangy, post punk grit. And the poetry-as-lyrics vocals are smattered with splashes of Keys and a Moog that have a real rhythmic, almost mechanical, feel to them that kinda comes off a little like Devo.  But don't take that as them sounding like a Wave band, because they're far from it.  SHARK TOYS music is carved out of the ramshackle, pop-fused, punk of bands like the Modern Lovers and Television Personalities.   Intimate and shambolic, gutter-pop, slop polished in Swell Maps, Raincoats and Gang of Four decadence.  Recorded and mixed by Monty Buckles of the Lamps/Wounded Lion.

CREEPING IVIES, THE "STAY WILD" LP (DEAD BEAT)
Any band that matters has a career defining record and for Scotland's The CREEPPING IVIES, 'Stay Wild' is that record.  ‘Stay Wild’ is a monumental opus of face-melting, fuzz bathed in the primal libations of Rock N Rolls past.  Cut from the same treble-tattered cloth as greats like the Cramps, Gene Vincent, Thee Headcoats and The Oblivians; The CREEPING IVIES seamlessly mesh stripped down 50's Rock N Roll, Swampy Blues, R&B and raw, unbridled Garage Punk into their own depraved, cauldron of Riff N Roll supremacy.  With torn-toms, shredded guitars, and hauntingly carnal Blues howled vox, The CREEPING IVIES dish out a primitive dose of mutated Rock N Roll that works.  Cathartic, hot-wired, fuzz heavy filth from this feisty, ferocious two-some. Cover Art by Idonmine.

Now let's just get right down to this update ....
Finally grabbed some of the brand new HOAX LP, I'm sure I don't have to tell you about it you just know you need it ... possibly the best packaged LP of the year, HOAX definitely outdid themselves on this release.

Scored copies of the brand new RADIOACTIVITY LP, which if you weren't familiar, features some guys from a band called THE MARKED MEN playing some tunes that sound a lot like THE MARKED MEN, and while I'm sure that's a cop out description, if you like THE MARKED MEN then you will like this! Also from Dirtnap grabbed a few copies of the new BAD SPORTS LP and new MIND SPIDERS LP!

Picked up the newest from my wonderful neighbor to the south, SORRY STATE RECORDS, including the RULETA RUSA LP, JOINT D≠ new LP, and THE #1's single which is awesome (all of these are actually great, I just am listening to the #1's single as I type this). Also grabbed a couple of reissues courtesy of No Idea - the CLEVELAND BOUND DEATH SENTENCE LP and the devastating THE SWARM "Parasitic Skies," now on LP format.

A few more titles of note include the TENEMENT / SCREAMING FEMALES split 7", SPINE / THE REPOS split 7" (which is already sold out of first pressing from the label, i have a SMALL number of copies available), HARD SKIN new 7", and some rad demos from the likes of GENOCIDE PACT, NANCY, SMARTSAM UTLOSNING, and more! Full list is below, and don't forget about the killer records from last week's update as well; THE IMPALERS LP, new OBLITERATION 7", two VAASKA split 7"s, and GENERACION SUICIDA LP/CS, to name a few.

That's all for now, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

NEW WEBSTORE TITLES FOR 11.01.13:

HOAX "S/T" LP (HOAX)
"After a slew of well-regarded EPs, here's the debut LP from Hoax. Given the meticulous presentation of their singles, it's unsurprising that the band have taken the utmost care with every aspect of this record. It's an LP in every sense of the word... fully-realized, subtly expanding their sound while giving you everything you want from a Hoax record. The recording is also probably the band's most powerful. Throw in some amazingly complex packaging, including numerous full-sized poster inserts by some of the best and most famous artists in punk, and you have a serious contender for LP of the year. If you have any interest in Hoax at all, then I highly suggest picking up this LP. " - sorrystaterecords.com

RADIOACTIVITY "S/T" LP (DIRTNAP)
Radioactivity is a continuation of The Novice, Jeff Burke's band while living in Japan. Jeff has since moved back to Texas, and out of respect to the Japanese lineup of the band, has changed the name to Radioactivity. Some of these songs are re-purposed Novice tracks, while others are brand new. Jeff is one of the most distinctive songwriters in the punk rock underground, and these songs will sound instantly familiar to any fans of The Marked Men or Potential Johns.  Band members include Jeff Burke, Mark Ryan, and Gregory Rutherford, whose credits read like an all-star lineup of Texas punk and garage rock royalty, including members of The Marked Men, Mind Spiders, Bad Sports, Wax Museums, The Reds, VIDEO, and The Novice.

BAD SPORTS "BRAS" LP (DIRTNAP)
Produced by the Marked Men's Mark Ryan and Jeff Burke, Bras is a major departure from the '77 pop/punk feel of 2011's terrific Kings of the Weekend. This time the band brings a tougher, harder-edged sound and takes on a wider variety of musical styles. While still very much in the classic vein of Texan garage/punk, Bad Sports are also bringing to mind the heyday of New York City punk. With hints of Dead Boys snarl, Dictators thump, and even some artier Lou Reed/Television leanings, this record finds the trio refining its songwriting chops and rocking harder than ever. The album's got a little bit of everything - from booming Cheap Trick style power pop to straight-up catchy garage punk to grimy proto-punk not far removed from Orville's other band OBN IIIs. And while Bras builds on the foundation of previous records, quite frankly it blows away anything else the band has done to date. Scorching tracks like "Washed Up" and "Race To The Bottom" beg to be played at obnoxiously loud volumes, while "Nothing In This World" might be the best pop song you hear this year. Elsewhere, "Get You" and "Terrible Place" manage to satisfy the fan base even as they push the band's sound to the next level. Lots of bands pay lip service to the idea of duplicating the energy of their live shows on record. Bad Sports have gone out and done it! Turn it up!
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6292

MIND SPIDERS "INHUMANISTIC" LP (DIRTNAP)
Mind Spiders are back with their 3rd album in 3 years! Featuring a streamlined lineup of Mark Ryan on vox/guitar/synth, Mike Throneberry on drums, Daniel Fried on bass, Peter Salisbury on synth, Inhumanistic finds the band going in a slightly more stripped down direction than previous efforts.  The album was written while messing around with different drum machines, and while there is live drumming as well, drum machines play a prominent role as well, which is partly why the record is called Inhumanistic.  The recording is very tight, direct, and almost claustrophobic. Influences for this record include Devo's Freedom Of Choice, Wall Of Voodoo and old horror movies (the songs Electric Things is about the movie From Beyond, for example.  Inhumantistic is Mind Spiders catchiest, most direct and rockin' (although they also slow it down a couple times, to great affect!) release yet! We've been cranking out Mark Ryan related releases for almost a decade now, and have no plans to slow down anytime soon!

RULETA RUSA "NO AQUI ES" LP (SORRY STATE)
Debut 12" from this San Francisco punk band that first caught my ear on their split 7" with Mexico's Los Monjo. Like Los Monjo (and like singer Jose's old band, Peligro Social), Ruleta Rusa take the big, anthemic riffs of old Spanish punk like Eskorbuto and inject them with the wild energy of 80s US hardcore, sealing the deal with a sprinkling of infectious, rocked-out lead guitar. Whether they're bashing out an upbeat singalong like "La Ley" or a darker, more downbeat song like the title track, Ruleta Rusa fill every moment with maximum power and energy. Recommended for punks who like punk.

JOINT D "SATAN IS REAL AGAIN, AGAIN" LP (SORRY STATE)
The new album from North Carolina's Joint D≠. This time around you can expect the same virtuosic punk you got on their first record, but a better recording (courtesy of Ryan Bell from Bukkake Boys) and a particularly impressive vocal performance from Nick means the intensity level is dialed up several notches. Few other modern punk bands can so successfully combine the fury of raw hardcore and the subtle melodies of more progressive punk bands, but Joint D≠ have done it again.

SWARM, THE "PARASITIC SKIES" LP (NO IDEA)
"Take LEFT FOR DEAD and ACRID and put them in a dependable blender. Set on "Frappe". Total hardcore destruction! Straight Edge Power Violence for the whole family!" THE SWARM is a raging maelstrom of total hardcore destruction! Straight Edge Power Violence for the whole family! Formed from the ashes of LEFT FOR DEAD and ACRID, Chis Colohan (vocals) continued on with RUINATION, CURSED, and now BURNING LOVE.

CLEVELAND BOUND DEATH SENTENCE "S/T" LP (NO IDEA)
"Bands are like romances: when you first get together you don’t know if it will last years or just one night. What seems like a great prospect may prove to be a total disaster, and what begins as a messy mistake may end up with a mortgage and kids. That was the scene in the summer of ’97 when I called up Paddy to see if he’d be interested in starting something new. A mutual fondness had developed between us on trips I’d done with his band, Dillinger Four. I’d roadied for them and played in a band they were touring with. But Paddy and I hadn’t made music together—yet. Cleveland Bound Death Sentence was plagued by annoying tags like “recording project” or “supergroup” right out the gate. Sure, all the members carried baggage as well as influences from the people we’d been with before (among them: Pinhead Gunpowder, Oswald Armageddon, and the Salteens). But why dwell in the past—or predict what might come from a fresh start? CBDS began organically, with songs and friends, like everything good does, and we took it from there. Paddy was borrowed and I was blue, so we brought in Spitball (old) and Emily (new). The songs were the same mix: some that had been kicking around for years and others we pulled out of thin air. We sweated and screamed every night in the basement, and Spitball recorded it all on his broken 8-track. When we were done, THD Records offered to release the results as a 7”. We split up and went our separate ways, but the next spring we were making noise again, and THD released a second EP.What it might have led to, I can’t say. Perhaps our passion was spent, or maybe another reunion was imminent. Before we had a chance, Spitball was sent up the river on a Federal drug charge. Calling his studio “the Methlab” might have been a bad idea after all. He’s been in prison ever since—eleven years! Lookout Records released a posthumous Cleveland Bound Death Sentence CD, but it soon went out of print, as did the original 7”s. Now finally the band’s complete recordings will be available again— on vinyl, and on No Idea, where they belong. Hopefully in a few years CBDS will be playing again. In the meantime, Spitball sits in the pen with a radio tuned to the college station a hundred miles away. Every once in a while a familiar song comes on. “Hey guys,” he says, “that’s my band!” Thanks for listening." —Aaron Cometbus

SPINE / THE REPOS - SPLIT 7" (BAD TEETH)
It's finally here. Straight from the Kansas City Barbecue Society is SPINE on the A side, Chicago legends from the nuthouse THE REPOS on Side B. This is the record of the summer you've all been waiting for...both bands bust out some of their best material on this slab and it fucking kills. Not your average boring split record with a few minutes of throwaway material that didn't make it onto a better album. This is an album in itself and you need it.
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6284

HARD SKIN "WE ARE THE WANKERS" 7" (1234 GO)
A fresh bit of dross and a some old toss from the UK's number one band! Featuring "We Are The Wankers", "Two Bob Cunt" (previously unheard alternate version) and "Fuck It" (previously unreleased). Oi! Oi!
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6286

THE #1's "SHARON" 7" (SORRY STATE)
Second single from Dublin, Ireland's mighty The #1s. Power-pop is a genre plagued by weak bar bands trying to cross-market their shlock to punks and/or hacks who couldn't write a great hook to save their lives, but The #1s pull off the near-impossible feat of combining explosive punk energy with the catchiest choruses this side of your local golden oldies radio station. You could file this next to your Protex, Undertones, and Exploding Hearts records (yes, it really is that good), but why file it at all when you could just let this glorious slice of pop perfection live on your turntable for the foreseeable future?

TENEMENT / SCREAMING FEMALES - SPLIT 7" (RECESS)
We met Screamales a long time ago during their first trip to California. When they recall the story it's just me watching them play while all the other show attendees were outside bbq'ing. I'm pretty sure there were others watching them but I wouldn't know. I ate a special cookie that day and was zoning in on how many pedals the guitar player was setting up. Every time I see that happening with a band, whom I don't know, I always think "Ok they're gonna suck". But the cookie kept me inside waiting for them to play. Half positivity, half too fuckin freaked to go outside where anything could happen. Then the band just exploded into their set. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor, wipe tears off my face, and ask myself tons of questions before I realized what was going on.  Tenement's "Napalm Dream" album is on heavy rotation here at Recess. I hate using other bands as references but I wouldn't be going out on a limb if I said that if you like Superchunk you will not hate this. But I won't say that. If I do Stevo will call me out on Punknews or something.  If this is considered "pop-punk" then you are all in luck. You no longer have to listen to our contemporaries shovel out the watered down red punch that's nothing better than a 5000 times xeroxed Blink 182. Go ahead and purge! Your hair was in the toilet...DISGUSTING! Feel better? Ok. There's no pretentiousness with this band. The real deal is here. It's your choice to climb aboard or not. You will no longer have an itch to vomit in the back of your mind no more. Sadly enough if Tenement goes to a city like say, LA, I'll have fingers leftover when counting the people who'd care. Is that Tenement's fault? Hell no! That is a big compliment in my book. If Wisconsin was already a great state, Tenement make it even better! Sorry for the geography, but it will make you buy this record right? " -Todd C.

GENOCIDE PACT - DEMO TAPE
A bushel of discontent slammed into a slow cooker and reduced to a grimy ooze of repulsive beats and rhythms only before seen in the paradise that is riff hell. Four tracks of tardy-inspired death metal from DC. 100 cassettes on Malokul. Vinyl pressing in the works for their winter tour.

SMARTSAM UTLOSNING - DEMO TAPE
The SMÄRTSAM UTLÖSNING demo is an international effort from members of Uppsala, Sweden's Agent Attitude and two members of DC's Coke Bust. These five songs pay homage to the members' favorite past and present Swedish d-beat hardcore bands a la Herätys, Totalitär, Dismachine and Mob47 while still maintaining its own flavor. Recorded live in a practice room with a couple of mics, th production is raw in a way that compliments the syle and brings out the intensity. The demo includes a double-sided lyric insert for English-speakers who cannot read the Swedish text. The creepy, desolate lyrics were too good not to translate.

NANCY - DEMO TAPE (EAT THE LIFE)
Here's eight super amazing bangers by NY's NANCY. These are a few dudes who have great taste in music and it shows through this tape. This tape is, should we say...perfect? If catchy isn't the word, I don't know what is because these lyrics and tunes will be on repeat in your head all day. Lets simply say there is some influence from THE JABBERS here. If I didn't know they were from here and now, I'd believe this was a re-issue of some old '77 group. It can't be stressed enough, G E T T H I S.

THUMBSUCKERS "BABY IM JUST A THUMBSUCKER" TAPE (EAT THE LIFE)
Some new hardcore punk from the ChiZona. Six tracks that are short and upbeat. Buzzy and hollow guitar tone, slightly melodic, fucking crazy. Check these bubuppis out!

BOX HUNDREDS - DEMO TAPE (EAT THE LIFE)
This is a little off radar compared to the rest of our releases, but that don't mean shit. BOX HUNDREDS from Albany, NY play a style of music highly influenced by shoegaze. They kind of remind me of WEED HOUNDS, but longer songs and cool freakouts. Even though this is a demo, the recordings are solid. Make this the new soundtrack to your next zine making project or trip out with your lover.
