BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" 7" and BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7" OUT NOW!

Two brand new 7"s out now! The BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7" (GRAVE052) and BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" 7" (GRAVE053) are now available for order in the Grave Mistake Webstore! I've got limited colored vinyl for each, Grey Vinyl for BLOODY GEARS and White Vinyl for BIG EYES!  I also have tracks from each release streaming on the Grave Mistake Bandcamp page (both EPs are also available here for full Digital Download). I've also added some killer new stuff to the distro (brand new TERRIBLE FEELINGS LP!), and those are listed below. Here is the info on both of the new releases ...

GRAVE053: BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" 7"
The follow up to their highly acclaimed "Hard Life" LP, the newest single from Seattle's BIG EYES might just be their catchiest material to date (and that is saying a lot)!  This double A-side slab delivers two incredible tracks that will leave you wishing there was a whole LPs worth of new material.  With big, poppy riffs and catchy choruses, the East Coast roots of BIG EYES shine through alongside a healthy dose of grit, attitude and tons of energy.  Drawing from a range of influences that span across decades of rock and roll - from Cheap Trick and Alice Cooper to the Ramones, Descendents, and The Muffs - BIG EYES bring a refreshing and distinct element to their melodic power-pop-punk sound.

GRAVE052: BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7"
Boston, MA's BLOODY GEARS bring us the long-awaited follow up to their 2010 debut EP, an exclusive 7" single from their forthcoming LP, "Landscapes of Disease", due out in May 2012 on Deranged Records. More atmospheric and brooding than their previous material, the A-Side track "Frozen Rain" finds the band exploring new, yet familiar, territory in the realm of dark and ominous melodic punk. This single version of "Frozen Rain" contains a different mix than the LP version, with added instrumentation. The flip side picks the pace up with two additional non-LP tracks; one of which is brand new and exclusive to this 7", the other a rerecorded version of "Bite the Hand" off of their 2009 demo. Drawing their own sound from punk, post punk, and hardcore, BLOODY GEARS have often been compared to bands like the Wipers, Husker Du, Moving Targets, or Articles of Faith.

These releases should be hitting your favorite stores and distros later in the month as well.  Please get in touch if you would like to carry copies of these or any other Grave Mistake releases for your store or distro. Labels, hit me up for potential trades as well.  If you do a zine, blog, website, or write reviews and would like to possibly receive promo copies, drop me a line!

BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" US / Canada Tour starts this week, you can check out all of the tour info HERE.

I also added a few new records to the webstore, including the new TERRIBLE FEELINGS "Shadows" LP on DERANGED (this one is HOT off the press), the newest GG KING 7", an LP from Australia's HELTA SKELTA, the second NO POWER 7", a cool single from THE NERVOUS, a bunch of random leftover shirts from GOVERMENT WARNING, DIRECT CONTROL, and NIGHT BIRDS, and some restocks of the first BRAIN F≠ 7", GLAM 7", the last SHITTY LIMITS 7", two OBN IIIs 7"s and their LP, and a bunch more.

Thanks for reading!

NEW FOR 04.13.12:

BIG EYES "BACK FROM THE MOON" 7" (GRAVE053)
The follow up to their highly acclaimed "Hard Life" LP (2011), the newest single from Seattle's BIG EYES might just be their catchiest material to date (and that is saying a lot)!  This double A-side slab delivers two new incredible tracks that will leave you wishing there was a whole LPs worth of new material.

BLOODY GEARS "FROZEN RAIN" 7" (GRAVE052)

TERRIBLE FEELINGS "SHADOWS" LP (DERANGED)
After infinite discussions concerning aesthetics, lyricism and musical preferences, “Terrible Feelings” was chosen as the most fitting name for this musical outfit, which saw the light of day sometime late summer 2009, in Malmö, Sweden. Whilst the band may have its origins in an eternally blossoming punk scene, Terrible Feelings represents so much more than that.  With music and lyrics rooted in 70s devil-worshipping hard rock and 80s spleeny new wave, Terrible Feelings play a sophisticated and gloomy mixture of power pop and punk.

HELTA SKELTA "S/T" LP (HELTA SKELTA)
Some might remember these guys dropping a great demo tape over a year and a half ago and then mysteriously disappearing. Well thankfully Perth's Helta Skelta have returned with a new self released LP. The fact that they've covered both SSD and now 70s Perth band The Victims shows the mix of influences going on here, total garage meets hardcore blend done very well. Definitely one of the better Australian releases to come out this year. Only 250 copies were pressed so grab it now or regret it later!

GG KING "JOYLESS MASTURBATION" 7" (TOTAL PUNK)
Total Punk is back with two more tracks of PUNK TOTALITY!!! This time we bring you a two track single from ex-Carbonas front man Greg King and his super group of Atlanta cohorts. GG King has quickly silenced the legions of heart broken Carbonas fans with a solid run of 7" singles followed by the best punk LP of 2011. This is his first offering since and HOT DAMN! this shit RULZ! "Joyless Masturbation" is four and a half minutes of dark pummeling Rikk Agnew style punk with layers of loud squelching guitars and a repetitive hook that pounds its way into your head. On the flip side we have "Bag", a two minute blast of biting punk harkening back to the days of the Carbonas. TOTALLY PUNK AND TOTALLY ESSENTIAL!!!

NERVOUS, THE "GENITAL PANIC" 7" (NERVOUS)
"Debut EP by this AWESOME new lady-fronted punk band from Denver. Four songs, and they're all total killers... the basis is straight up catchy punk a la the early Dangerhouse singles, but delivered with a HC energy. The vocalist has a powerful bellow that kind of reminds me of Terry from Foreign Objects, but since the music is far less quirky and more straightforwardly punk than FO the melodies pop a whole lot more. Highly recommended, and tough to find since it's self-released, very limited, and only has minimal distribution." - sorrystaterecords.com

NO POWER "DISTORT" 7" (LUNCHBOX)
Charlotte's NÖ PÖWER have created a mess of d-beat, punk, and noise on this platter. Super RAW and depressing hardcore with equal parts Japanese worship and psychedelic ambition. Released in conjunction with "NO AXIS", a second 7" released by Inkblot Records and local-label Self Aware, "DISTORT" is the bastard child of the pair of records. Recorded, written, and released by NÖ PÖWER. Mastered by Josh Bonati. (members of GRIDS, METH MOUNTAIN, OBSTRUCTION, etc.).

TRENCH ROT "S/T" 7" (DO SOME HARM)
Is one southern California’s newest hardcore / D beat band. And is made up of members all coming from active HC bands that helped make up the socal HC scene for the last 5 years. Their sound has been compared to poison idea meets negative approach with Swedish d beat sound thrown in. THIS 7” IS 5 TRACKS AND ONLY 500 PRESSED

DEATH CRISIS "S/T" 7" (TOO OLD TO DIE)
"6-song debut 7" from this San Diego that features former members of Life Crisis, and holy shit does this thing SMOKE! These guys pick up where Life Crisis left off in terms of producing bulldozer, Record Collectors-inspired hardcore, but they add in some sick Die Kreuzen-esque creepy tremolo leads and burly as fuck vocals that are mostly sung en español. Holy shit we have a ripper here! " - sorrystaterecords.com

DEATH CRISIS / DIATRIBE - SPLIT 7" (TOO OLD TO DIE)
"As on their killer previous 7", San Diego's Death Crisis pick up right where their old band Life Crisis left off with some killer, slightly metallic HC that sounds like Pushead would have been really into it if it came out in the 80s... in fact, it reminds me a little bit of Pushead's own band Septic Death, and that's a comparison you don't see too often. As for Diatribe, they are a legendary d-beat band that had an obscure demo 20 years ago that strongly influenced bands like Disclose. A lot of old d-beat bands that have re-formed don't really seem to get it anymore, but Diatribe definitely do! Their 3 songs are noisy bursts of pure, Discharge-influenced crust. While not quite as epic as their long-lost demo, they still wave the Dis-banner proudly. " - sorrystaterecords.com

GLOBSTERS "ROCK AND ROLL MISERY" 7" (SPHC)
Punk rock often focuses so much on hip and hyped big city scenes that we forget that punk is more than just fashionable young people going through their expected motions. Predictable style, cool personalities, high school politicking; destroy it all. Globsters is a resounding wake-up call that punk should be for true freaks and geeks, an open door for those unable to fit into the beaten path that society at large will offer us. One lone man in Hazard KY making the most genuine, heartfelt, and deeply inspiring punk rock currently to be found in the US. This new 7" trades in the tape-spliced style of the first 7" for real instrumentation and a wider variety of songwriting, from short/fast/loud ragers to metal headbangers to mid-tempo melodic love songs. I would say it is a 1.0 on the Muta scale.

NUKLEAR BLAST SUNTAN "THE WHEEL OF FATE IS TURNING" 7" (SPHC)
Next noise bomb from my favorite GA band. A little more straight-forward stylistically than their alien psych-crustcore LP but fuck, those riffs!!!!! These 3 songs get stuck in my head for days. One longer song, two shorter and more chaotic bangers. Comparisons to Antischism and Initial State are obvious, comparisons to Disrupt a little less so but the brutality still warrants it.

VIVID SEKT "A DECEPTION OF DESIRE 2007-2010" CD (CRYSIS)
Portland's Vivid Sekt's features members of similarly influenced bands Arctic Flowers and Moral Hex but Vivid Sekt is different in that they do not retain the hardcore elements of the former nor the more new wave/post punk sounds of the later proving that Vivid Sekt is a DIY punk band through and through. This CD contains 12 tracks of their works from 2007-2010. New anarcho punk classic.

BIG EYES and DEEP SLEEP Tours this Month! New Releases around the Corner!

GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS
LABEL AND TOUR UPDATE / 04.12.2012

I. BLOODY GEARS and BIG EYES new 7"s out tomorrow!
II. BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" Tour (Midwest, East Coast, Canada) starts THIS WEEK!
III. DEEP SLEEP East Coast / Midwest Tour THIS MONTH!
IV. ODDS and ENDS
V. TOUR DATES

Hello all! Just a quick update on some Grave Mistake band happenings this month. First off, I'll have two new 7"s available tomorrow in the webstore - BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7" (GRAVE052) and BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" 7" (GRAVE053).  I'll have some very nice looking colored vinyl for all of you mailorder pals, and both releases should be popping up in your favorite stores and distros later this month! I know I say this with every new release, but I'm extremely thrilled with how these records turned out and I'm sure you will be too. While both bands play a bit different styles than what you are used to from the label, I think they still fit perfectly with Grave Mistake and couldn't be more excited to be working with them and releasing these new records.

In addition to these new releases, I've got a couple of tour announcements to make so here goes ...

BIG EYES "Back from the Moon" US / CANADA Tour 2012

Coinciding with the release of their new 7" single, BIG EYES have just embarked on a month long tour covering the Midwest, East Coast, and a few Canadian dates as well.  Their tour starts this weekend after a straight drive from Seattle to North Dakota! They will have the new "Back from the Moon" 7" with them, so definitely check them out if they hit your town and pick up the new single! Altpress.com was kind enough to stream the title track for us, and you can listen to that HERE.

"Back from the Moon" is their follow up to 2011's incredible "Hard Life" LP on Don Giovanni (Screaming Females, The Ergs, For Science), and I'm positive that this new EP will please existing fans of the band, as well as turn a few new heads.  With big, poppy riffs and catchy choruses, the East Coast roots of BIG EYES shine through alongside a healthy dose of grit, attitude and tons of energy.  Drawing from a range of influences, from Cheap Trick and Alice Cooper to The Ramones, Descendents, and The Muffs, BIG EYES bring a refreshing and distinct element to their melodic power-pop-punk sound.

Check out the full tour dates below, and definitely go see 'em if they play your town! Get the new record too! And the LP!

DEEP SLEEP - EAST US 2012 Tour

Yup, you heard right! DEEP SLEEP is still alive and well, and have a nice little two week tour planned for a handful of lucky East Coast and Midwest cities this month!  While 2011 saw the release of DEEP SLEEP's first LP, "Turn Me Off" and the band's first European Tour, the dudes have been laying low for the most part otherwise.  Still, despite their guitarist moving to the other side of the country last year, they are staying productive as distance will allow and have a handful of new songs that they will begin recording this month for a new record later in the year!

Check the dates below, and definitely make it a point to check them out if you can on this tour because, while DEEP SLEEP will never die (according to Tony) the opportunity to catch 'em live isn't going to come around that often! All of their releases, "You're Screwed" 7" (2006), "Manic Euphoria" 7" (2008), "Paranoid Futures" 7" (2009), "Three Things at Once" Singles collection CD (2009), and "Turn Me Off" LP/CD (2011) are available in the Grave Mistake webstore (we have some cool package deals as well if you need multiple releases) and will be from the band as well, and you KNOW they will have some limited tour nerd stuff with them (because they are, without question, a bunch of nerds).

OTHER NEWS / MORE NEW RELEASES PLANNED!

Well, if you made it this far, thanks for reading! As I've mentioned before, 2012 was looking to be a very busy year for the label and all of the bands involved, and it seems that each week things get busier and busier, and that's pretty much how it's going to be for the rest of the year! As I mentioned last week, we are also planning a 12" vinyl release of the NIGHT BIRDS "Fresh Kills Vol. 1" singles collection, you can expect that just in time for their West Coast tour this July (check the dates HERE, along with a ton of other BIRDS happenings).

Two more quick announcements (with more info in later months), but it's looking like I will also be co-releasing a repress/reissue of the "March to your Grave" LP from DC's one and only STRIKING DISTANCE with my good friend Sean at Youngblood Records.  Youngblood did the LP of this release when it first came out back in 2001, and it went out of print shortly after.  I'm going to spare you the intro to SD, if you know then you should be stoked, and if you don't know, do your homework! Details are still being ironed out, more to come ...

Finally, it's looking like we will be doing another release for THE SHIRKS as well! The band recorded a bunch of new material not too long ago, and they just continue to get better with each release. No real details yet, but hopefully as the months go on you'll hear more, I can tell you that we are aiming for a late summer / early fall release. In the meantime, check out their "Cry Cry Cry" 7" I put out last year, and grab their other 7"s from the webstore as well!

That's all for now, check out BIG EYES and DEEP SLEEP if they are playing your city, and grab those new releases!!!

WEBSTORE UPDATE! New IMPALERS, SICKOIDS, MAUSER, GM Rarities, much more!

I gave you a break last week (thank me later), but I couldn't keep the new stuff from coming in so here's the latest update. Before I get to the newest goods in the webstore, some quick label news.  Both the BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7" (GRAVE052) and the BIG EYES "Back From the Moon" 7" (GRAVE053) will be available for order next week! If you do a distro, store, label, etc and would like to get copies, please drop me a line asap and we'll get something worked out. Any zines / blogs / websites / etc that want review copies, hit me up as well. As always, we'll have some nice colored vinyl available for mailorder so don't go blowing all of your cash on this update!

Of course, the SECTARIAN VIOLENCE 7" and BAD ADVICE 7" that came out last month are still available, and I do still have some colored vinyl left so pick those up if you haven't yet! I'll have a bigger label update next week, so stay tuned. Expect even MORE new release announcements, plus some tour info from BIG EYES, DEEP SLEEP (yes, they are touring!), and NIGHT BIRDS!

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk new records ...

WHAT'S NEW FOR FOR 04.06.12:
http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/products_new.php

A pretty killer haul this time around, first and foremost I ended up picking up some long out of print GRAVE MISTAKE (and friends of GRAVE MISTAKE) rarities ... I picked up a handful of first press colored vinyl versions of the debut WASTED TIME "S/T" 7" (both Clear and White vinyl), I scored some copies of the IRON BOOTS "Easy Green" 7" (First Press numbered copies on Black vinyl AND Second Press copies on Green vinyl), the final copies of the IRON BOOTS "Weight of the World" 7" (I've actually had these for a while, but never put them in the webstore!), and a handful of BRACEWAR "Whatever It Takes" 7" on limited Clear vinyl (this release was their latest to date, and came out a few years back on TWGG).  All of these are stock copies pulled from the vaults, so if you missed grabbing copies or sold yours for whatever reason now you can get em again at a reasonable price.  And while I'm on the subject, I still have some remaining color vinyl copies of the UNSEEN FORCE LP and CHRONIC SICK LP reissues on NO WAY.  Those limited versions sold out a while ago, but we dug up some lost copies ... grab em if you need em! Quantities are of course limited, first come, first served.

As far as new records ... some sick stuff in this update  Probably my top two for this update are the IMPALERS Demo 7" (on NO WAY / BEACH IMPEDIMENT) and the SICKOIDS LP (on RESIDUE) ... if you were lucky enough to hear the IMPALERS demo tape or even their 7", you know that this shit rips. And the SICKOIDS LP, holy fuck ... definitely going to be in my top five for 2012 without question. SICKOIDS are on tour now so check them out if you can!  But that's just the beginning; picked up the newest SORRY STATE jams - STRIPMINES LP and JOINT D≠ (formally known as JOINT DAMAGE, sued by Juggalos, had to change the name ... featuring members of BRAIN F≠) LP; the new 12" EP from MAUSER (pick this up along with their 7" if you haven't grabbed that yet); the brand new POWER TRIP 7" and their Demo 7" as well (saw this band last weekend, they RULED), new single from RVA's one and only LOST TRIBE, a bunch of killer reissues from MENTALLY ILL, GASOLINE, PSYCHOPATHS, and THE AVENGERS (not the punk band, killer garage from the 60's but not the surf band from the 60's either!) ... a couple of rad import singles from NO MORE ART and VANNA INGET from the same label that pressed the TERRIBLE FEELINGS "Blank Heads" 7" (which I just restocked on as well!) ...

Finally, I was lucky enough to attend UNITED BLOOD fest here in Richmond last week - aside from seeing some great bands (POWER TRIP, FREE SPRIT, BACK TRACK, CRO-MAGS, to name a few), I scored a ton of stuff from labels like REAPER, TRIPLE B, 6131, SIX FEET UNDER, and more ... new/newish records from STICK TOGETHER, DISENGAGE, TAKE OFFENSE, FRIEND OR FOE (I believe this was a limited release for the fest only), MINORITY UNIT, SUBURBAN SCUM, GYPSY, WAR HUNGRY, the awesome STRIVING HIGHER LP compilation, some copies of the Australian press of DOWN TO NOTHING's "All My Sons" 7", and MUCH more ... so for all of you true coremen and corewomen, this update is right up your alley.

Thanks again for reading and as always, thanks for all the support especially this year! It's been busier than ever and there are no signs of slowing down anytime soon.  I wouldn't be able to do any of this without you, so thank you! Tune in next week ...

NEW WEBSTORE TITLES FOR 04.06.12:

IMPALERS "DEMO" 7" (BEACH IMPEDIMENT / NO WAY)
After its initial release as a demo tape in late 2010, we bring you the first recordings from Austin’s own IMPALERS on 7”. Five blown out tracks of D-Beat tinged metalbanger punk that gives nods to the greats like MOTORHEAD, CELTIC FROST, DISCHARGE and ANTI CIMEX among others; brought to us by the riff master of MAMMOTH GRINDER and the beast beat keeper of HATRED SURGE.

SICKOIDS "S/T" LP (RESIDUE)
Punishing debut LP by one of the best new hardcore bands to come around in years! An unrelenting, dark, and ultimately raging record that combines the brutal edge of a DIE KREUZEN mixed with the hardcore melody of a ARTICLES OF FAITH. Yet this band sounds new and fresh and not attempting to ape past hardcore genres. SICKOIDS have an incredible driving sound that is harsh but also has a intense controlled chaos. The rhythms are fierce and hit with procession and are brilliantly matched with the chorus style guitar that hits like a knife in the chest. This recording just pounds away at the listener and barely gives you a chance to breath. Tracks like “My Curse”, “Psychic Cold War”, “Bleached Bodies” jump off the record as each song blurs into the next. This dynamic three piece is made up of Vince and Rob from WITCH HUNT and Eric from GOVERNMENT WARNING and DIRECT CONTROL. SICKOIDS are an amazing live band so do not miss your chance to see these guys and pick this record up!

MAUSER "ISOLATION" LP (VINYL RITES)
Massive speed fueled punk madness from Gainesville, FL. Influenced by Japanese killers FRAMTID, Mauser is drum-focused and driving, with simple and brutal punk riffs covered in distortion. On their first ep, END OF THE LINE, they played a couple mid-tempo rockers, but this is mostly straight forward hardcore punk noise! They set themselves aside from most of the crappy noise punk coming out of the US by actually being able to write great songs and having an incredibly clear, powerful and harsh recording.

STRIPMINES "CRIMES OF DISPASSION" LP (SORRY STATE)
Debut LP from the most rugged and uncompromising band in North Carolina hardcore. Since their earliest days Stripmines have been combining crushing crust punk rhythms, Skitkids-esque rocked-out riffs and leads, and pit-annihilating breakdowns, but the monstrous production and ambitious, non-intuitive songwriting on Crimes of Dispassion bring their sound to new levels of intensity, while vocalist Matt Lavallee still emits a Brannon-esque bellow that is one of the most intense and identifiable voices in punk today.

JOINT D≠ "STRIKE GENTLY" LP (SORRY STATE)
Originally known as Joint Damage but forced to change their name because of the threat of legal action, Joint D≠ is a new project from Nick Goode, who you know from his guitar work in NC's Logic Problem and Brain F≠. While Nick's trademark vocal stylings and wall-of-treble guitar sound are familiar, Joint D≠ have a different sound than his other bands thanks to the muscular rhythm section, which is equally comfortable with a Wipers-style propulsive lurch as they are with Gauze-esque stop-on-a-dime changes. Guest vocals from Elise and Bobby from Brain F≠ make this essential for fans of that band, while the music itself makes it essential for anyone who can appreciate ambitious, atmospheric, and dynamic hardcore.

LOST TRIBE "UNSOUND" 7" (DISTORT REALITY)
After their incredible s/t LP on Blind Prophet, Virginia's punks in black come back with a brand new single. Two more songs of creepy peace punk mixed with goth punk and death rock. Lost Tribe play apocalyptic post-peacepunk darkwave but with with a solid d-beat & crust backbone that makes this a record both for punks and dark music freaks alike. The atmosphere is comparable to that of The Mob, New Model Army, or The Chameleons but with the power of Discharge or Amebix's rhythm section. It goes without saying that their live show is not to be missed, and you can expect a healthy dose of smoke machines, sweat, studs, and leather. Features members of Aghast, Empty Grave, Syndrome, and Caves Caverns.

MENTALLY ILL, THE "GACY'S PLACE" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
Of all the hotly sought-after original Killed-By-Death punk singles, few to none are as notorious - or mysterious - as the "Gacy's Place" EP by The Mentally Ill. The sleeve, the topics, the so-horrible-it's-amazing production values, that voice. Many in the know crown it the sickest punk record ever made.

GASOLINE "KILLER MAN" 7" (FANCLUB)
Fanclub pressing of this French KBD gem from 1977. Featured on the first Killed By Death LP, classic French punk!!!

VANNA INGET "JAG SKA FLY TILLS JAG HITTAR HEM" 7" (ERSTE THEKE)
The band has a sound that Swedish bands like Masshysteri, Knugen Faller, Baboon Show, Invasionen, etc. has conveyed the last ten years. Bands that have given punk a little more melodic vein. Vånna Inget have turned down the distortion and added some more minor chords and vocal harmonies but the intensity, anxiety and the energy is there anyway. Sort of like new wave that came after punk explosion in 1977.Vånna Inget is punk with pop melodies and melodic vocals. The inspiration for the album is a jumble of Tant Strul, Pink Champagne, The Go-Go’s, old Uggla, Håkan Hellström and Marked Men.  The album “Allvar” is filled with musical spontaneity without studio work with to much choirs and guitars and the new EP will be hold this level. It should sound so sad and vivid as possible. The album was recorded in guitarist Tommy Tift (Sista Sekunden) studio by the band themselves, the EP too. I told you that the new EP is the same level, maybe a little bit more sad and vivid and also amazing!  Everyone in the band come from small places around Småland, Sweden and the country rather than the town that inspired the band to this EP. But everybody in the band has now moved to the big cities, away from the small town small mind syndrome. Singer Karolina Engdahl sings with a passion of a rare luxury, anxiety squirts out of her jaw. Bass player Johan Ottosson laid his bass with depth and with drummer Andréas Almqvist and Tifts guitar; they receive a carpet of beautiful noise. Band members play in or have played in such great bands like Sista Sekunden, A Good Deed, The Confession, Speakeasy, Civilisationen, The Part Timers and Morsans Gula Blend.

NO MORE ART "PERIPETEIA" 7" (ERSTE THEKE)
No More Art is comprised of people from rather dissimilar backgrounds in music, but the elements are easy enough to lay out. There are the surf-drenched guitars, the complementary female vocals, and the rock ‘n’ roll frenzy of X (Los Angeles), some of what has been brewing in Denmark and Sweden over the last decades with bands like MASSHYSTERI / VICIOUS, and NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS, but also with lots of melody and leads that is reminiscent of 80's LA bands like SOCIAL DISTORTION and ADOLESCENTS, but with a unique sound of their own as well. Lead singer Milo has been paying her dues for some years now as a singer song writer in her own solo project ROSIE TIE. Drummer Juan Miguel has been busy on the heavier side of music, playing guitar in bands like LOS DOLARES, ETACARINAE, and PELIGRO!, in Barcelona over the past decade. Will has also done time in many bands over the past decade with groups BORN/DEAD, DESOLATION, SUICIDE BOMB, DOPECHARGE, and most recently Portland's RED DONS. Recorded by Dennis Rux at Yeah Yeah Yeah Studios and mastered by RED DONS Hajji Husayn in a 80s sound that made you KBD fans out there forget the modern world. Enjoy the first No More Art songs!

POWER TRIP "DEMO" 7" (WITHDRAWAL)
Rising from the depths of the Lone Star State comes Power Trip, straight from the scene that delivered Iron Age, Power Trip are quickly gaining hype for their fast, shear, pissed off approach. For fans of Cro Mags, The Icemen and the thrashier side of Nuclear Assault, Power Trip are a hellish force to be reckoned with.

POWER TRIP "S/T" 7" (LOCKIN OUT)
Brand new 7" from Dallas, TX's POWER TRIP.  Three songs, two originals and a Prong cover.  Power Trip are quickly gaining hype for their fast, shear, pissed off approach. For fans of Cro Mags, The Icemen and the thrashier side of Nuclear Assault

PSYCHOPATHS, THE "TILL THE STROKE OF DAWN" 7" (MIGHTY MOUTH)
Official reissue of 1967 moody garage punk classic. Outta Boston! Features “Till The Stroke Of Dawn” and “See The Girl.”

AVENGERS, THE "BE A CAVE MAN" 7" (MIGHTY MOUTH)
"At the tail end of 1965 The Avengers released their second single on the hip Star-burst label that operated out of Hollywood, Los Angeles 'Be A Cave Man' is a winner all the way with it's uptempo teen beat groove and 'put down' lyrics...."Be a cave man - keep her in line"...the boys would have the woman's liberation after them these days of course....But who cares? this was 1965 when men were men."

DEATH TRAP "NO HICKS" 7" (FERAL KID)
Recorded in the early 80’s, and now being pressed for the first time ever, total KBD jams that will stick with you forever. Amazing material that has been languishing for far too long. Liner notes include a detailed history of the band as well as fliers. "King City is the tiny California town that spawned this band- much to its chagrin I’m sure. These songs get a lot out of a little, each revolving around a single riff, and shouted vocals that are often out of rhythm with the music, along with some sort of lead, be it a hooky wandering bassline, keyboards, or police siren guitar solo akin to the end of Social Distortion’s “Mass Hysteria”. This recording reminds me a lot of that of the Urban Waste 7″, and the overall vibe absolutely reeks of being a punk in small town America in the early 80′s, confined by conformity and narrow minds, and wanting nothing more than to get out. Also included is a brief history of the band, and an amusing anecdote about them playing “No Hicks” on their high school’s lawn." (MRR)

FRIEND OR FOE "DEMO" 7" (REAPER)
Reaper Records and brand new Richmond, VA label Solid Bond Records, have teamed up to do a limited 7" for United Blood. Friend Or Foe features members of Bracewar, Fire & Ice, Iron Boots and Tough Luck … straight up hardcore Richmond style!

STICK TOGETHER "NO MORE GAMES" 7" (BACK TO BACK)
Hailing from Wilkes-Barre, PA and boasting members of War Hungry, Force Fed, and Disengage, Stick Together represent the next generation of straight edge bands with a positive message and a sound that brings to mind the best of the late-'80s youth crew scene.

STICK TOGETHER "SURVIVING THE TIMES" 7" (TRIPLE B)
Stick Together return with a brand new 7" of six in-your-face hardcore songs in the vein of Breakdown, Judge and Rival Mob. Members of Title Fight, Disengage, Bad Seed and War Hungry.

DOWN TO NOTHING "ALL MY SONS (AUS PRESS)" 7" (DEAD SOULS)
"ALL MY SONS" is the culmination of almost a decade of hard work for Richmond, VA's DOWN TO NOTHING.  Having taken it to the world with three full length albums and countless EPs, they return hitting harder than ever with "All My Sons"; six new tracks recorded in the closing days of 2009 at Jim Seigel's Outpost Studios in MA see DOWN TO NOTHING realizing their full potential.  This is hard, fast relevant straight edge hardcore.  Four tracks featured on the 7" with all six songs included with the digital download.  This is the Australian Press (US version on REAPER RECORDS).

MINORITY UNIT "C.M.F." 7" (6131)
"C.M.F." ("Clear Minded Fury") is six songs of true Los angeles hardcore. The thirteen members of Minority Unit (yes, you read that right) are all straight edge and wear the label proudly, but don't alienate anyone. "C.M.F." will appeal to punk rockers and hardcore kids everywhere.

MINORITY UNIT "DEMO" 7" (6131)
"A little backround about MINORITY UNIT: Members of SLEEPWALKERS, SOUL SEARCH, and ROTTING OUT playing fast, pissed off, straight edge hardcore. Oh and in case you couldn't tell by the name, they're all Mexican dudes.  A whopping 11 people appear on vocals throughout the 6 song demo, which makes the delivery of said vocals sound fucking awesome. It basically sounds like a bunch of homies hanging out and talking about what pisses them off, which is pretty much what this demo is.  I'd recommend it to anyone that's into hardcore. And if you could catch them live (I'm sure if you live in california, you'll get the opportunity pretty soon), fucking do it. I was at their first two shows and they were some of the funnest sets I've seen in awhile." - corexlife.blogspot.com

WRONG ANSWER "CROSS A BLACK CATS PATH" 7" (SIX FEET UNDER)
Philadelphia's premier naughty youth crew band, WRONG ANSWER are back with their new 7" and first for SFU. After 2 records on Harvcore and tours of Europe and the US, Wrong Answer is a welcome addition to the SFU Family and we are pleased to be working with Ogden again (i think?).

TREMORS "ISLAND SONGS" 7" (SIX FEET UNDER)
Featuring the vocalist of UK's Dirty Money, Tremors play fast, angry hardcore punk with a raw recording and no filler. Think Out Cold and Poison Idea. 7" includes digital download.

GUILTY "S/T" 7" (SIX FEET UNDER)
Hailing from Sweden, Guilty put forth a thunderous demo that led to the recording of this debut 7" on Six Feet Under Records. These four tracks are fast, thunderous, and metallic hardcore that brings together the New York sounds of Madball and Cro-Mags with the crossover stylings of "Master Of Puppets"-era Metallica.

CURRENT "PEACE, LOVE" 7" (SIX FEET UNDER)
CURRENT hails from Syracuse, NY and came to our attention after we heard their impressive demo earlier this year. After several sporadic gigs in upstate NY opening for Polar Bear Club, Harvest and some others they got it together to write this 7" for SFU and despite us taking forever to get it out its finally ready for preorder. 6 songs clocking in at almost 13 minutes, sonically appealing to fans of everything from Burn to Quicksand to Bane to Modern Life Is War with ex members of Meltdown, Forfeit and Unholy and current members of Reign Supreme.

AGITATOR "WALLS CLOSING IN" 7" (SIX FEET UNDER)
Brand new from one of the most polarizing bands in hardcore right now, Philadelphia, PA's Agitator is back with their second 7", "Walls Closing In." Five tracks of brutal, heavy, straight edge hardcore featuring guest vocals on the title track by the world famous Joe Hardcore and by world infamous Justin Ogden on "Force Fed Lies."

ALERT "FIND YOUR WAY" 7" (SIX FEET UNDER)
Hailing from Western Massachusetts, Alert play classic, youth crew-inspired straight edge hardcore with a slight melodic touch vocally. Think Youth Of Today/True Colors meets Uniform Choice. "Find Your Way" is their second 7" and features five new songs recorded at Dead Air Studios by Will Killingsworth.

CORNERED "FUCK OFF" 7" (6131)
Holland's Cornered is one of the bands leading the charge of newer European hardcore bands making a name for themselves. Their newest 7", "Fuck Off!," will not only solidify their place in Europe but will break them into the US hardcore scene. Cornered's NYHC influenced hardcore, but their European flavor sets them apart from the pack.

FOCUSED MINDS "STAY FOCUSED" 7" (6131)
Hailing from Milwaukee, WI, FocusedXMinds play a style of hardcore that is often defined as "positive hardcore" and in many cases, written off as generic. Fortunately, FocusedXMinds is far from that and simply say they play music that appeals to common sense, which any of us can appreciate. After playing two shows, 6131 Records snapped them up immediately and is now helping the band to release their debut 7".

SUBURBAN SCUM "HANGING BY A THREAD" 7" (6131)
After releasing their first EP, "Internal War" (Ride The Fury), and a split 7" with Incendiary (Mayfly Records), New Jersey's Suburban Scum is back with "Haning By A Thread." Suburban Scum has been making waves throughout the hardcore scene for a while now, but "Hanging By A Thread" is the record that will make them a household name. Heavy without being cheesey and lyrics that make you think, Suburban Scum is the complete package.

GYPSY "GIANT'S DESPAIR" LP (SIX FEET UNDER)
This was a long time in the making. Finally seeing the light of day is the debut full length from GYPSY. "Giant's Despair" is 10 tracks that have been well worth the wait. Sounding even more now like Knapsack, Jawbeaker and Dinosaur Jr than the 7" did, the LP features top notch production from Will Yip (Blacklisted, Mother Of Mercy, War Hungry). Oh and they feature members of Cold World, Mother Of Mercy, Stick Together, and the dude who books United Blood, if you're into that sort of thing.

WAR HUNGRY "S/T" LP (SIX FEET UNDER)
Heavy and metallic, Eastern PA's War Hungry deliver their debut full-length busting out jams reminiscent of Biohazard and Type O Negative with plenty of thick riffs and wailing leads.

BANE "GIVE BLOOD" LP (TRIPLE B)
This reissue celebrates the ten year anniversary of the original release of Bane's "Give Blood." It comes complete with a heavy duty, embossed gatefold jacket, 16-page 11"x11" insert booklet and high-quality vinyl.

DISENGAGE "EXPRESSIONS" LP (TRIPLE B)
Triple-B Records presents the debut LP from Wilkes-Barre, PA's own Disengage, featuring members of Title Fight, Cold World, Magnus, Stick Together, War Hungry and Bad Seed. Twelve brand new tracks of Youth Of Today-influenced hardcore. For fans of Youth Of Today, Free Spirit and Straight Ahead.

TAKE OFFENSE "UNDER THE SAME SHADOW" LP (REAPER)
This spring, Take Offense is following up their debut full-length LP, "Tables Will Turn," with a 12"ep entitled "Under The Same Shadow" - four new jams to keep the people in the zone. They have been proving themselves for seven years now with their intense live performances and ever-growing musical range. This will be their best one yet.

NIGHT BIRDS UPDATE: SHOW, FEST, and TOUR DATES FOR 2012 / FRESH KILLS VOL. 1 LP

NIGHT BIRDS are busier than ever this year and have just announced a ton of Fest dates, East Coast shows, and a West Coast Tour this summer that will also find them in Hawaii and Canada.

The dates include Sound & Fury Fest in Santa Barbara, CA, The Fest 11 in Gainesville, FL, Ottawa Explosion Fest in Ottawa, ON, Bernard College's WBAR-B-Q in New York, Insubordination Fest in Baltimore, MD, No Suck Fest in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Road to Ruin Fest in Philadelphia, PA.  Additionally this spring will see Night Birds playing several shows on the East Coast, including an in-store at Generation Records in NYC on Record Store Day (w/ PAUL COLLINS!), a couple of gigs with CEREMONY, and a sold out show with COCK SPARRER and the CRO-MAGS, before heading over to the West Coast this summer for the first time ever (full tour dates below).

Most recently, the band appeared on a live-taping of The Chris Gethard Show, their performance (and ensuing aftermath) can be viewed HERE. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet!

Also, just in time for their West Coast tour, we will be releasing the NIGHT BIRDS "Fresh Kills Vol. 1" singles/demo collection on 12" format! With the demo and "Killer Waves" 7" single long gone, their debut "S/T" 7" EP almost gone (I have about 10 copies left, Dirtnap has the same, and the band is completely sold out), and their "Midnight Movies" 7" EP down to the final pressing, we thought now would be a great time to compile all of that early material on LP format to keep all of these tracks available on vinyl (we did the CD version last year).  We'll have more info on this release in the coming months, but grab those singles while you can!

If you have yet to pick up any of the NIGHT BIRDS releases (or are missing one or two titles), head over to the Grave Mistake webstore because I have a bunch of cool package deals to save you some cash if you buy multiple releases (I've got some NIGHT BIRDS shades too, just in time for Summer!)

That's all for now, expect a lot more GRAVE MISTAKE news in the coming weeks; I've got two new 7"s coming out next week (BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7" and BIG EYES "Back From the Moon" 7"), a couple more tour announcements from DEEP SLEEP and BIG EYES, a SCHOOL JERKS LP not too far away, and of course I'm consistently putting tons of great new records in the webstore.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your support!
