NEW RELEASES: SICKOIDS "No Home" 12" E.P. and SECTARIAN VIOLENCE "Upward Hostility" LP OUT NOW!

I'm going to keep this update short and sweet, but expect a full label update in your inbox this week as well!  The main announcement is that the SICKOIDS "No Home" 12" and the SECTARIAN VIOLENCE "Upward Hostility" LP are now available for mailorder in the GRAVE MISTAKE WEBSTORE!  These have been in the works since the beginning of 2013, so it's great to finally have them available!  There are also some awesome new distro additions so feel free to grab a few of those while you're at it!

Here is info on the two new releases:

GRAVE058: SICKOIDS "No Home" 12" E.P.
SICKOIDS follow up their debut LP with six new tracks of complex, pummeling hardcore. While their previous record incorporated varying moods and even a little melody, "No Home" is a blistering, full-frontal assault combining the directness of early POISON IDEA with dense, confident musicianship rarely heard in a hardcore band. Between their great first record and their powerful live shows SICKOIDS have set the bar pretty high, but "No Home" exceeds all expectations, cementing their status as one of the most exciting and vital hardcore punk bands in the world. Split Release with SORRY STATE RECORDS.

We've got copies on limited CLEAR VINYL w/ SILKSCREENED OBI STRIP (courtesy of Daniel Sorry State) while they last! We also have a package deal that gets you both the new 12" and their debut LP and saves you a couple of bucks!

You can stream and download the entire NO HOME 12" here:

GRAVE060: SECTARIAN VIOLENCE "Upward Hostility" LP
SECTARIAN VIOLENCE introduced themselves to the masses in 2012 with their impressive self-titled debut 7" EP.  "Upward Hostility," the first full-length from this intercontinental straightedge hardcore band picks up right where that first EP left off, delivering some of the burliest meat and potatoes hardcore you've heard in recent years.  SECTARIAN VIOLENCE smash through ten raging tracks deeply rooted in early 80's USHC while also drawing additional influence and inspiration from hardcore of recent years.  You can expect relevant socio-political commentary delivered over fast, driving hardcore with crushing pulses, keeping things unique, relevant, and fresh for 2013.

We've got copies on limited BLUE VINYL while they last! We've also got a cool package deal that gets you both the new LP and their 7" and saves you a couple of bucks!

NEW IN THE WEBSTORE FOR 4.24.13:

SECTARIAN VIOLENCE "UPWARD HOSTILITY" LP (GRAVE060)

SICKOIDS "NO HOME E.P." 12" (GRAVE058)
We've got copies on limited CLEAR VINYL w/ SILKSCREENED OBI STRIP while they last!

KREMLIN "DRUNK AT THE GULAG" LP (BEACH IMPEDIMENT)
"Drunk in the gulag again!?! This time Kremlin emerge with not only a hangover but the proverbial lightning in a bottle - 10 tracks of insane hardcore punk captured on a four track and released for your listening pleasure on a 45rpm 12inch.  With a variety in song tempo, tone, structure and attention to detail Kremlin have made a real record rather than flog the dead horse of one riff and the same bag of tricks over and over to flex some musical muscle in an attempt to be "punishing" or "brutal" (oh brother!) or hammer home some point of reference. While they owe a debt to the past of classic hardcore punk for their sound this record is truly an addition to the punk cannon and their very own statement to the world. Kremlin re-envision the music of their influences using the old puzzle pieces to make a new picture - UK/European inspired punk riffing with the speed, precision, and sense of rhythm of classic American hardcore.  Kremlin's 4th release (and 2nd vinyl offering) steps back from the brink of insanity and the psychedelic frontiers of last years "Will You Feed Me" 7 inch with a more fleshed out, fully realized version of their sound that is somewhere between the no non-sense sound of their demos, the adventurous mayhem of their 7 inch, and the intensity of their live show."

V/A - GROUND ZERO NY COMPILATION LP (TOXIC STATE)
For the first time in decades, New York City possesses one of the most unique and groundbreaking hardcore punk scenes in the world, particularly through the "Toxic State sound." Ground Zero stands as both the definitive documentation of this NYC punk family, as well as proof of NYC's prominent standing in the American punk landscape.  This compilation LP features exclusive material from La Misma, Deformity, Nomad, Goosebumps, Black Boot, Putrida, Anasazi, Murderer, Sad Boys, Bortgang, Crazy Spirit, Perdition, and Dawn of Humans."

MANIPULATION "S/T" LP (SORRY STATE)
After two well-regarded 7"s on Fashionable Idiots and Sorry State, Chicago's Manipulation unleash their debut LP on the world. As befitting the move to big vinyl, the production is  clearer, the tempos more varied, and the attack more refined, but no one who loved their first two records will be disappointed by this beast. Recommended for those who like their hardcore dense, fast, passionate, and completely free of gimmicks or pretense.

V/A - WELCOME TO 2013 COMPILATION LP (NOT NORMAL)
December 21st, 2012: coastal residents from New York to Japan drowned as the ice caps melted, volcanoes simultaneously erupt ed the world over, the planet is engulfed in riots, and your last breaths were squeezed from your black lungs. 2013: Civilization as we know it has been largely replaced by roving tribes of mutants. Not Normal sent it's own intrepid reporters into the unknown to document the wailing, screeching caterwauling that has replaced the treacly, soothing Top-40 splendor of yesteryear and the primitive cave-drawings that have likewise usurped the proud tradition of kitsch reproduction as "art." What purpose have these cretinish imps? What motivates them, beyond vile impulse? Have the last bastion of propriety and moral standards any chance of reversing these adverse affects and restoring society to its natural balance? Doubtful. The end is nigh.  40 minutes of Hardcore Punk madness featuring new/exclusive tracks by Adjustment To Society, Aspirina Infantil, Big Crux, Bored Straight, Broken Prayer, Brown Sugar, Culo, Good Throb, Haute Couture, Hondartzako Hondakinak, Inservibles, NASA Space Universe, Negative Degree, Ooze, Porkeria, Tenement, and Thee Nodes and art by Amos Pitsch (Tenement), Ben Trogdon, Drugface, and Josh Davis. Comes in two-color screen printed jackets with a twenty page booklet.

NUCLEAR SPRING "S/T" LP (HYSTERIA)
Six new songs from New York City's Nuclear Spring. Their first proper release heavily influenced by the 80's anarcho punk scene with a LA Dangerhouse and early French OI tinge. Members of La Misma, CREEM, and Sucia. Silkscreened covers.

FOLKEIIS "HATE REBEL BLOOD STAIN“ LP (VINYL RITES)
Folkeiis is a hardcore punk band from Nagoya, Japan. Mauser toured Japan with them for 2 weeks, and they were one of the best bands we saw over there. Even on shows with Framtid and Warhead, these young men put on incredibly powerful and dynamic sets. This is a 12” collection of their first ep (Hell Kaaos Night, Answer Records, 2009) and various compilation and split appearances. While their newer songs have an almost heavy metal Zouo sound, these early recordings are unhinged noise-punk heavily inspired by classic Finnish hardcore, always on the brink of destruction.

CHURCH WHIP "PSYCHEDELIC NIGHTMARE" LP (VINYL RITES)
Heavy metallic d-beat, mixing Broken Bones, Discharge, Venom and other classics. Features all of Divisions switching some instruments up and adding D. Vassalotti (of previous Vinyl Rites fame) on drums. Members pedigree also include all great Tampa bands of the last few years, Cult Ritual, Horrid Cross, etc. All copies on black vinyl with large Crass-style poster cover.

NEON PISS "CLOSE THE DOOR" 7" (VINYL RITES)
Two new songs of dark and melodic punk done right. Like later gloomy Damned mixed with good early Damned, some Wipers, and tons of texture and layers to the songs. Their LP on Deranged was one of our favorites from last year and while this record is similar, the guitars are slightly cleaner while the whole recording is a little rawer. It feels nostalgic while being new, and I couldn’t be more excited to have a hand in this one.

SUDOR "CUATRO CANCIONES ..." 7" (TODO DESTRUIDO)
These 4 songs were recorded in the same session as their first 7" "Ciudad Imperial".  These songs were suppose to be used for a 4 way split Lp w/ Firmeza 10, Semen and Antidroga but that never saw the light of day.  So here they are now.   4 songs of adolescent punk that we have come to expect from Sudor!

HELTA SKELTA "ASBESTOS" 7" (HELTA SKELTA)
After a standout 12" in 2011, here's the follow-up EP from Australia's Helta Skelta. This band plays the best kind of hardcore and punk, i.e. the kind that defiantly flouts any kind of boundaries. The first song here is a brutal, mid- to slow-paced stomper that could be a Violent Future outtake, but then the second track, while holding at a similar tempo, weaves in some catchy punk guitar and recalls other great Australian bands from the Chosen Few and Radio Birdman right up to Eddy Current / UV Race. The b-side kind of weaves these sounds together while picking up the tempo, arriving at a more hardcore-inflected take on the Dangerhouse sound.

THEE CORMANS "MINGO/TIGER LILLY" 7" (TOTAL PUNK)
Thee Cormans have joined the esteemed Total Punk roster and delivered unto the world another frying pan to the dome of fuzz-arific surf madness.  We're not totally convinced over here that Thee Cormans aren't in fact real life cavemen surfers that put out surf punk singles on the side just for shits and giggles.  Well whatever the case, Mingo and Tiger Lilly are 2 more crapsterpieces of classic instrumental surf dirge recorded with the littlest attention to fidelity imaginable.  So yeah, this sucker rips!  Thee Cormans are tossing off whomped-out surf stompers in the grand tradition of the Mummies, Untamed Youth, a la the Estrus  and Crypt Records catalogs and they are doing it with not a care in the world.  Fiendishly Recommended.

RAPID LOSS "S/T" LP (MATA LA MUSICA)
Rapid Loss hailing from Edmomton,AB (Canada) releasing their 1st S/T LP on Mata La Musica Discos! Rapid Loss delivers us this new raging hardcore punk lp after one previous ep release under their belts.  From start to finish this hardcore punk record has the fury and anger of bands like Poison Idea, BGK and Siege. Recorded by Graeme from No Problem(Edmonton), this Rapid Loss LP became like a gift that won't stop giving. It's loud and uncompromising, get this into your hands and I promise you will not be disappointed. RP also just finished up their 2013 west coast tour for the release of this record.

MUNDO MUERTO "QUE ASKO" LP (MATA LA MUSICA)
This is MUNDO MUERTO's follow up to their 1st 7". Straight forward and classic punk to pogo and throw up too! Catchy melodies, frentic guitar riffing, and awesomly tight drumming. The guitar and bass are urgrent and keep it ripping with influences from COLERA, OHLO SECO. Think classic Spanish and Brazzilain punk with contemporary attitude and feeling. Pick this one up, and and play it loud!

GENERACION SUICIDA "S/T" 7" (MATA LA MUSICA)
Generacion Suicida from Los Angeles with their debut 7" on Mata La Musica Discos. GS delivers some tracks on here that are awesome and catchy as hell with driving melodic dual male/female vocals. With influences like early 1979 Los Angeles punk and the 1990's Danish punk scene . This is highly recommended for fans of Gorrila Angreb, Alley Cats,The Vicious, Electric Deads to name a few.  GS just finished up a 2 week tour on this west coast. If you did not have a chance to pick it up during this tour then make sure you get your hands on this now.

HIGHWAY CROSS "RUN DRY" 7" (TOXIC POP)
Highway Cross is the product of four of northern Virginia's most talented and esteemed veterans of the hardcore/punk scene. Frontman/guitarist Matt Michel was a major force behindMajority Rule and has done time in Cloak/Dagger. Also from Cloak/Dagger is bassist Colin Barth, who plays bass here. Guitarist Ben Tankersley played in DC area favorites, Shoutbus!, and the beast behind the drums is Jake Kregger, who also plays in Triac. The band certainly worships at the altar of Rick Froburg (Obits, Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu) and it shows through loud, crunchy, angular riffs backed by pounding, driving rhythms. Their debut 7" was self-released and certainly piqued our interest, but this follow up really finds the band settling into their own sound which takes the aforementioned influences and shapes them into something uniquely borne by these four fine gentleman.

INDUSTRIAL PARK "S/T" 7" (TOXIC POP)
Industrial Park hail from Portland and play gothic-rock/post-punk in the tradition of bands like Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, and Slowdive. This record would have fit very well among the early 4AD releases. This debut 7" single is just a tease of what's to come. Expect great things from this duo. Comes with a digital download code.

MIKE BELL & THE MOVIES "STUCK IN A TV" 7" (SELF AWARE)
Mike Bell & the Movies features ex and current members of Algernon Cadwallader, Bandname, and Dangerous Ponies. For fans of go-karts, pick slides, and ninja turtle sized slices of pizza.  Mike Bell is a sweetheart. He is America's little brother and could warm up your heart with his honest and kick ass rock and roll songs. If you like Pavement, Stephen Malkmus, Elvis Costello, and Weezer then this is your bag.

COP CITY CHILL PILLARS "HELD HOSTAGE ON PLANET CHILL" LP (FLORIDAS DYING)
Off kilter minimal punk from Lake Worth. Strange, dark, creepy vibes abound. Chanted vocals, surfy lead lines that weave in and out of the songs, primal tom heavy drum beats. Party music for alien cavemen on a planet with high gravity. Good for your next seance, or for worshiping your sun god. The musical equivalent of being hit in the head with a hammer, not so much the blunt trauma, more the long term affter effects. I hope I never have to leave Planet Chill.

COP CITY CHILL PILLARS "HOSED" LP (FLORIDAS DYING)
Black robes, torches, mind-control, mock human sacrifice rituals, and worship of Moloch the ancient Canaanite deity. These are just some of the images conjured up by "Hosed" the long awaited follow-up from Lake Worth Florida’s own Cop City Chill Pillars. "Hosed" takes things to its next logical conclusion with even more rhythmic messing about and lots more monotonous chanting. They don’t really sound like any other band, but feel free to make whatever musical comparisons you like. Hint: A-Frames, (Hardcore) Devo, Plastic People of the Universe, Jeff Mills.

SLEAZE, THE "TECKTONIK GIRLS AND OTHER HITS" LP (TOTAL PUNK)
"If you’ve been at this record collecting thing for any time now you’ve probably figured out that in this day and age there are two kinds of punk rock. The first type is to vintage late 70’s and early 80’s punk what Sha Na Na was to Eddie Cochran – y’know, studied nostalgia for a bygone age that’s never coming back. Then there’s the other kind of punk; the music made by those marked from birth as lifelong mutants and complete fuck ups. Call it TOTAL PUNK if you will. These punks aren’t looking to the past so much as spontaneously acting upon the same maladaptive urges that gave rise to bands like the Electric Eels and the Gizmos. These are exactly the kind of punks we’re talking about when we talk about the Sleaze. Guaranteed not one Sleaze has ever heard of the initials KBD. As far they’re concerned Bloodstains are just what you get on your clothes after a 3 AM drunken wrestling match. And yet through some miracle of surreptitious retardation these four goofballs managed to blindly stumble upon the primordial essence of punk captured so often on those aforementioned comps. You notice at first in Conor’s quintessentially snotty voice and Mark’s staccato guitar riffs, but it’s there lurking under the surface in Joe’s repetitive basslines and Will’s savant-like drumming as well. All eight songs on this 12” twitch and throb with a deviant vitality that will remind you why you got into this punk garbage in the first place without bringing to mind a single band you could cite as an influence. There's always been something off about the Sleaze – what other band besides these guys would think it was a good idea to give some of their best songs impossibly dumb titles like “Conor Start” and “Big Azz Butts?” – but the more you listen to this record the more you will realize how their complete disregard of history and accepted “good form” is what makes them so right on. The Sleaze truly don’t give a fuck about anyone or anything other than themselves. Everywhere they go they leave behind a trail of bad decisions, broken promises, unhonored debts, damaged property, innumerable cans of Mountain Crest with shotgun holes punched in the bottom, and – redeeming it all – a bunch of timeless songs that will be cranked out of broken speakers for as long as there are still dirtbags out there making a mess of their lives through punk rock. Tektonik Girls is the Sleaze in all of their damaged glory. Buy this record and it will shatter your soul." - Steve Borchardt

OLD FLINGS "SPITE" LP (SELF AWARE)
The new tracks for the LP tear your heart, mind and ears to shred. The Samiam and Texas Is the Reason comparisons are still strong here but I feel like some Dinosaur, Jr. and just general guitar shreddage has been added to the mix.  If you liked Old Flings before then you will love this. The recording is amazing, this is one of those records that WILL change the way you think about things.

LATE BLOOMER "S/T" LP (SELF AWARE)
This band has progressed tremendously in the short time they have been a band. I say that even though they released a stellar demo tape earlier in the year.  This LP documents that progression with a lot more of a focused sound and also introduces a lot more interplay between all of the 3 members as they all share vocals parts and seem to bounce ideas off of each other.  What does it sound like you ask? Well it would feel at home in the late 80s and early 90s on SST, Dischord, and maybe even Sub Pop, but don't feel ready to just ring them up as some 90s rehash band. While the songwriting is cohesive and focused the band seems to be drawing many different types of music that have influenced them over the years. Nothing seems off limits and everything is on the table.  They do all this while sounding undeniably like themselves.  The band features ex and current members of Meth Mountain, Obstruction, Pullman Strike, Scout, Planet Piss, Horse Thief, and many others.
