WEBSTORE UPDATE! New SHOPPERS/PANZRAM split, NO POWER 7", WHITE GUILT 7", THE MEN, TOTAL ABUSE, and more!

Two updates a week apart! I'd like to think that I'm getting better with these, but the reality is that there was just too much stuff last week that I had to split it up (although some of these are brand new hot off the press).  Short and sweet, I won't take up too much of your time this week ...

Before I get onto the new distro stuff, some GRAVE MISTAKE label news.  As I've mentioned in the past few updates, the SECTARIAN VIOLENCE 7" and BAD ADVICE 7" still have some colored vinyl copies available but not many left so grab em while you can. Also, the SECTARIAN VIOLENCE EUROPEAN TOUR starts next week, you can check out all of the info on that at http://sectarianxviolence.blogspot.com/.  They will have their new EP, along with a new tour tape featuring five brand new songs. Also, the BLOODY GEARS "Frozen Rain" 7" (GRAVE052) will be in my hands next week and will be available for order before the month is over! The BIG EYES "Back From the Moon" 7" (GRAVE053) is right around the corner as well, and will probably go up the first or second week of April, although we are shooting to get the band copies for the very start of their tour April 5th in Portland.  You can check out the BIG EYES tour dates HERE.

Finally, in addition to the new releases for this week, I scored some of the final copies of CHRONIC SICK "Cutest Band in HC" LP reissue on No Way Records on BLUE VINYL, and they are in the webstore as well so if you missed grabbing one when they first came out, now's your chance to get one of those.

Onto the new stuff ...

Quick summary since there isn't too much this week but all quality; the newest releases from FEEBLE MINDS including the SHOPPERS/PANZRAM split 7" and the new WHITE GUILT 7" ... I also restocked on both the SHOPPERS LP and BROWN SUGAR LP, so grab those if you haven't yet! One of two new singles from NC's NO POWER (the other one should hopefully show up at GMHQ next week); the KICKS 7" is the newest Aussie reissue from Timmy and 540 Records; picked up a slew of new singles from KEN ROCK including the newest WHITE LOAD and MORALENS VAKTARE 7"s; the ripping debut 7" from Japan's CONFRONT, the latest from Japan's one and only SYSTEMATIC DEATH; plus new singles from WEAK LINK and NYC's TROUBLED SLEEP.

On the LP front, picked up a couple of LPs from THE MEN (including their newest), a bunch of DINOSAUR JR vinyl that you probably should own, the two most recent TOTAL ABUSE LPs (don't know why I slacked on grabbing these), plus finally got my hands on some cool reissues from PUNK RECORDS (PATRIOTS, NOS, LAST ROUND UP).  Finally, grabbed the CD version of TENEMENT's "The Blind Wink" release (I now am stocked up on ALL THREE formats), newest demo from Australia's KICKED IN, plus the discography tape from SWEDEN's HARDA TIDER.

Still a bunch of great stuff from the last update still in stock as well! That's all for now though, thanks for reading! See you next week ...

NEW WEBSTORE TITLES 03.23.12:

SHOPPERS / PANZRAM - SPLIT 7" (FEEBLE MINDS)
Southern Florida and Upstate New York collide in a varied snapshot of modern day East Coast noise punk. Ft. Myers, Florida's PANZRAM display their unique take on early ABC-No-Rio-era NYHC with two new dissonant, pummeling anthems. Backed with the blown-out pop stylings of Syracuse, NY's SHOPPERS whose musical reference call out to early no-wave, riot grrl and post-punk. A match made in heaven.

WHITE GUILT "FORGIVENESS" 7" (FEEBLE MINDS)
"Brand new 7" from this New York band who has several previous releases on labels like Video Disease and Feeble Minds. They're still pushing the noisy HC thing to its limits... it's pretty much full-on Youth Attack / "mysterious guy HC" style, but despite feeling like I should be burnt out on this style I still think this one is a total ripper. The production is totally in the red and intense as hell, and the vocalist is a feral beast. If you still have patience for and interest in this style this is one of the best examples I've heard in a while." -sorrystaterecords.com

NO POWER "NO AXIS" 7" (SELF AWARE)
No Power features ex members of Grids (Luchbox/Inkblot/Made in Kansas), Meth Mtn (Self Aware/Lunchbox) and Obstruction (Lunchbox). Somewhere in that mixture of loud, fast, and noisy you have NO POWER.  If you are a fan of Japanese hardcore (Framtid, Bastard), early American hardcore (Siege, SSD), and d-beat (Discharge, Disclose) then you can't go wrong with this 7". Some of the loudest and most raw shit you will hear this year, I shit you not.

KICKS "THE SECRET" 7" (540)
Official reissue of this Australian "post punk" classic from 1981 that sounds so much like Bauhaus it's crazy! this is the 6th in the series of Shake/Savage records reissues of some of the best punk ever to come from Australia.  By 1980, punk as we knew it was having a bit of a personality crisis. The Pistols we dead and buried, The Clash had lost the plot and...Oh No!...here come the Mohawks. After nearly 3 years (and nearly as many chords) THE YOUNG IDENTITIES decided to try something different if not entirely distant. They still get a buzz from fast and sinister music so they change their name to KICKS and release a very limited edition cassette singe titled 'Leather/Godzilla'. Sounding fresh, brash and furious but with more depth than previously heard, the boys continued to expand on the new noise with the 1981 vinyl double A side follow up 'Return of the Action Man/The Secret' The single sold well locally and was an acknowledged influence on new and upcoming bands like Mystery of Sixes and Public Execution. Officially though, it was to be Kicks last recorded release, until now...where thanks to the good folk of 540 records it raises it ugly hydra-head again!

CONFRONT "THE CURTAIN OF AN INTENSE ATTACK" 7" (GENERAL SPEECH)
4 tracks of blazing Japanese HC from Mie City Japan. After almost 10 years of demos and compilation tracks, the first vinyl output from Confront. With a sound somewhere between older bands like Death Side and newer bands like Crude, this might as well have come out on Bloodsucker, or HG Fact in the late 90's. If that style is up your alley, this is essential. first press of 500 copies, split release with Not Very Nice Prod. http://soundcloud.com/chaosnonmusica/confront-empty-world

SYSTEMATIC DEATH "SYSTEMA-8" 7" (EVEN WORSE)
One of the bands that paved the way for Japanese Hardcore since the early 80's and still going strong today!! Four new killer tracks by these old Yokohama trashers.

WEAK LINK "DROP THE DIME" 7" (WEAK LINK)
"After a couple of strong demos, here's the debut vinyl from Canada's Weak Link. These guys still play straight up, no-frills hardcore in the vein of bands like Vacant State and 86 Mentality, and while the 7" is a bit more produced than the demos it's still raw as fuck. HC for the hardcore. " - sorrystaterecords.com

MORALENS VAKTARE "KONSUMERA" 7" (KEN ROCK)
The first record sold out very fast, so instead of doing a repress they did a new fantastic record instead.  Yeep its killer 70´s sounding Swedish punkrock and the songs are about life, the tracks are.

Sloane Peterson from Florida play catchy pop punk that might leave you thinking of FYP, The Ergs! and Dillinger Four. 3 song 7".

TROUBLED SLEEP "POLTERGEIST" 7" (RIPE)
Poltergeist, the debut four song 7" from NY's Troubled Sleep, is a warm mix of melody and dissonance led from Mary and Ben's guitars. It clearly is reminiscent of some of the Simple Machine bands coupled with a bit of Superchunk . There is also a nuanced delicacy to the songs and Mary's vocals that call to mind the likes of Coedine, which intertwines with the driving foundation provided by Erik (bass) and Rachel (drums) giving the 7" a "Leaves Turn Inside You" era Unwound quality.

HIGH SOCIETY "NO FUN" 7" (HARDCORE NERD)
THE HIGH SOCIETY is a new band from nuernberg/germany which delivers their debut 7inch. you'll get four songs in the vein of the deutschpunk-heroes of the early '80s. think of a kbd-fueled HARNRÖHRER mixed with a REAGAN YOUTH fuck-you attitude! HIGH SOCIETY manages to combine catchy KILLED BY DEATH styled punk singalongs and the raw speed and power of early hardcore. no fun lyrics in german praising the downfall of society as we know it, makes this one a real winner! this ripper is strictly limited to 500 copies. get your copy now!

GUN OUTFIT "S/T" 7" (PPM)
Gun Outfit is an amazing new band from Olympia Washington. Three-piece rippers that take you back to a time when riffs were weird and hooks were awesome. Honing in on influences from past greats like MEAT PUPPETS and DINOSAUR JR, GUN OUTFIT create their own sound that is equal parts melody, jangle, punk and pop. Gun Outfit are part of an inspiring music world that includes other great northwest bands like SEX VID and SISTERS. On their debut 7" they inspire and twist a sound through three very different songs that stick together in a way, that seems to only makes sense to them. But it works! Gun Outfit prevails, they sound like the new sound you wish you had as a teenager. Like a dream you were waiting for. Like a brand new 45 you were wishing for all month, it finally came in the mail, and it is better than you could ever think. They are very nice humans as well.

ASTRYD "LINDGREN´S GREAT 5 " 7" (KENROCK)
Yes! Finally its out, the ASTRYD´s EP, the band is the new mongopunk hope from Sweden.. with two members from IDYLS (did 2, 7” and a LP on kenrock for many years ago) and a man that have done a lots of nice shit for Swedish punk over the years. Nothing can go wrong…5 tracks and a nice cover of the Freestone – Bummer bitch. Amazing is all I can say…Limited to 225 copies all on black vinyl

BROWN BROGUES "WILDMAN" 7" (KEN ROCK)
Limited to 300copies, all are black. 2nd vinyl single and its a cave stomping double A side of Wildman and Grind a go go.  This is smashing primitive music from the UK. Amazing duo, see them live if you can.  Brown Brogues is not, never has been and never will be a blues band!

TYRED EYES "TOO LATE TO MAKE IT RIGHT" 7" (KEN ROCK)
Oops, kenrock did it again, find a band from kens hometown that he like hahaah, and tyerd eyes will fit any summer party this year.  If you have the guts give them a call, and ask them to come over and play,,, they love to play live and are a brilliant live band. And yeep they also like to party.. and to eat herring and dance around the maypole and that’s it.. 3 track on this plastic.

BADDAT FOR TRUBBEL "ISO 9004" (KEN ROCK)
YEEP its here….. after a great Lp last year, and lots of nice words in the press a new 5 track EP is here, these Skåne pågar deliver some nice rock tunes here the tracks is. POPPETS "THE LONG HIGHWAY" 7" (KEN ROCK)
It have to happen and now it happen, and kenrock is happy to give the earth this nice POPPETS record, after some nice 7” and a great mini LP they are back, The long highway is another great POPPETS record, and the sleeve is a hot painting all screened down to paper, and yes black or colored record exist and 300 have been pressed.

MEN, THE "LEAVE HOME" LP (SACRED BONES)
The Men yes, “The,” are a four-piece post punk outfit from Brooklyn, NY. Their catalog, which began in 2008 with a hand-dubbed self-released demo cassette, has grown to include two LP’s — We Are the Men and Immaculada — two more tapes, and a 7-inch. They have toured three times, played over 75 shows and have grown a following of die hard fans crowding into living rooms and basements throughout the five boroughs, desperately trying to see them. The buzz in their hometown has grown so fervent that the Village Voice debuted this album’s first single, “Bataille,” a full six months before the record was scheduled to street. Named for the famed French pornographic writer, the track review expounds, “rides a pug-ugly joy-punk riff into almost krautrock oblivion — complete with gorgeous voice cracks and face-mooshing distortion.”  Nick Chiericozzi, Mark Perro and Chris Hansell recorded this album at Python Patrol in 2010. Rich Samis joined the band shortly after and is now their full time drummer. Having three songwriters in the band allows them to pull from innumerable post punk sources, referencing drone, metal, shoegaze, and even Spaceman 3 lyrics on Leave Home. Recording to tape for the first time here, using elements of distortion, feedback, pop hooks, and a couple of beautifully destructive instrumental passages, The Men have been described by Mishka as, “more composers than musicians.” They have breathed new life into the genre of hardcore and created a seminal album that is truly for punks of all ages. Look for them on tour this summer.

MEN, THE "OPEN YOUR HEART" LP (SACRED BONES)
Ironically referred to by Timeout NY as “Thurston Moore & the E Street Band,” The Men have never been a band to play by categorical punk subgenre rules. Instead, over the last three years, this band has dabbled in everything from hardcore punk to psych to shoegaze to black metal; and they have done all of it effortlessly, and for the most part, flawlessly. Totally removed from the current climate of ADD-youtube-blog-hyped generation of musicians under 21, The Men stand out from the pack as both scene elders and actual record collectors. What makes this band so unique is their ability to synthesize their influences rather than just regurgitate them.  On Open Your Heart, the band’s 3rd full length, the NY quartet explore twangy country music, guitar solos, surf-ish riffs, psych, and just about everything in between. Erring on the side of literal as opposed to ironic, the song titles here (“Oscillation,” “Country Song,” “Ex-Dreams,” etc.) blatantly celebrate the band’s “you get what you pay for” DIY aesthetic. Beyond their genre-defying writing experiments, some of the band’s finest singles to date are on this record; “Open Your Heart,” “Please Don’t Go Away,” and “Candy” all demonstrate a new pop sensibility that previous albums only hinted at. Additionally, having four songwriters in the band lends itself to a truly unpredictable and thrilling live experience. With Open Your Heart, The Men embrace what is truly their calling, and flower into the fully diversified punk band their fans have always championed them for being.

MIKA MIKO "WE BE XUXA" LP (PPM)
Formed from the ashes of Dead Banana Landies in 2003. Never polished, always urgent and catchy, they somehow conduct a current take on the old emotions of great punk rock bands that came before them, such as the blistered energy of Redd Cross and early Legal Weapon, the charming shrillness of Lilliput and Rubella Ballet, and the ferocity of The Adolescents. On their second full-length, they expand on their remarkable songwriting skills, mixing great riffs with simple ideas and melody with speed while sending you into a mind melting frenzy.

TOTAL ABUSE "MUTT" LP (PPM)
On the new LP titled “Mutt” recorded between May 2008 to October 2009 for  PPM, Total Abuse fi nally cement a marriage between their obsession with early UK power electronics, and early eighties american hardcore. Since their humble beginnings they have been hinting at the sound, and on Mutt they deliver full force. Heavy feedback infused hardcore, not for the weary.  Only available on Vinyl and Digital, the LP comes with printed inner 12” sleeve a zine, and free download.

TOTAL ABUSE "PRISON SWEAT" LP (PPM)
Total Abuse are from Austin, Texas. Since their fi rst show in November 2006 TA have been recording and playing a heavy onslaught of feedback drenched hardcore soundscapes, taking hints from the Dead C, Black Flag (Chavo and Rollins era), Void and Harry Pussy. Total Abuse's Roster includes; Rusty Kelley on vocals (who also makes harsh noise under the name Breathing Problem), Matt Lyons on drums, Ryan Foster on guitar, Dustin Pilkington on bass and as of August 2008 they added former Snobs guitarist, Duncan Knappen as second guitar. Members now live in New York, Oakland and Austin and get together as much as possible to record and destroy ears live. On their third LP "Prison Sweat" Total Abuse blast and sometimes almost sludge through 7 tracks of great hardcore punk (with two tracks reaching over the 7 minute mark). Opening with an opus of blistering, seething, crunching noise then bursting into tracks that are as catchy and nauseous as their infl uences, This is Total Abuse at their best and most ferociously open. TA posses an honesty and anger missing from a lot of their contemporaries allowing them to dwell deep in your brain for a long while after you listen.

CROSS LAWS "NO ONE IS WAITING (DISCOGRAPHY)" LP (ABUSE)
Discography LP compiling all of this North Carolina hardcore band's released material along with a handful of unreleased tracks. Includes their demo 7" (ltd to 200 copies), their Behind the Curve 7" (ltd to 300 copies), their tour CDR (ltd to 50 copies!) and their Ancient Rites EP (ltd to 1000 copies). All tracks have been remixed and remastered by Dan at Mammoth Sound for maximum skull-crushing impact. Easily one of the most raw and in-your-face bands of the recent hardcore explosion, now you can own this band's entire recorded legacy on one easy-to-use platter.

DINOSAUR JR. "FARM" 2xLP (JAGJAGUWAR)
Some twenty years after their formation and legendary dissolution, Dinosaur Jr. returned to form with 2007's "Beyond", continuing their march into rock greatness. "Farm" is proof that this band continues to deliver. At times wholly 70s guitar-epic, at times perfect for sitting by a babbling brook with Joni and Neil, "Farm" encompasses Dinosaur Jr.'s signature palette - soaring and distorted guitar, unshakable hooks, honey-rich melodies - songs that get into your head and, bouncing around happily, stay there. Their fifth full-length with the original lineup. Double LP comes in beautiful litho-wrapped gatefold jackets and contains digital download coupon for free MP3s of the album.

DINOSAUR JR. "S/T" LP (JAGJAGUWAR)
By now, you know the story: J Mascis, Lou Barlow, & Patrick "Murph" Murphy, meet in Amherst, MA. J, Lou & Murph start a band. Said band goes on to rip through the musical landscape and prove to be the genesis of the "alternative rock" archetype.  Over the last 25 years, Dinosaur Jr have influenced a countless number of bands, both peers and protégés, by wailing their classic union of melodic bass, seething drums, virtuosic guitar shredding and listless vocal delivery through the iconic Marshall stacks.

DINOSAUR JR. "YOU'RE LIVING ALL OVER ME" LP (JAGJAGUWAR)
1987's You're Living All Over Me was a breakthrough record for Dinosaur Jr. and a seminal moment in alternative rock. Reigning in some of the noise from 1985's debut, Dinosaur, and featuring the first compositions by Lou Barlow, You're Living All Over Me became a blueprint for nineties guitar rockers and lo-fi DIY bedroom song-smiths alike. According to All Music Guide this is the record that "established guitar heroics as a part of indie rock, bringing the noise of Sonic Youth into more conventional song structures."

GUN OUTFIT "DIM LIGHT" LP (PPM)
Already championed by the LA scene and the Rough Trade shops in the UK, Olympia, WA's Gun Outfit are an avalanche of intensity and excitement. "Dim Light" is reminiscent of Meat Puppets, X, Dinosaur Jr, and Husker Du.

LAST ROUND UP "S/T" LP (PUNK)
Hardcore Punk Rock from Notorious Drunks from East L.A. i first meet this band in 1986 or 87 ,when thay played a gig with another friends band i think it was no mercy . anyways shortly after that we're were going to east la to party with them and watch the practice out of  mikes gurage .thay need a new drummer , and my friend "ray rios" (he also played drums for no reaction) joined the band. last round up still plays from time to time , this releace will have there 2 early demos from 88 and 91 +a studio set from 2007 .

N.O.S. "NO ONE SPECIAL" LP (PUNK)
This band existed in Arizona 1985-1988 . thy opened for many great bands back in the day , I only was able to see then play one time when thy opened up for suicidal tendencies at a club called prisms in Arizona the end of the night the town truly hated us suicidal's invading there town and destroying about 20 hotel rooms and doing a the biggest beer bandit on foot because the casher refused to sell us the beer ,so we took about 20 cases of beer from the place it was a night to remember .anyway N.O.S.  thy were really a great punk band. and I have enjoyed the 3 tapes I was give for the past 20 years ,I recently got back intouch with the band and am glad thy have agreed to let me release there music. this music is truly great and should not forgotten to the winds of time. so I am happy to finally give this band true justice and share this long lost band to the public .

PATRIOTS, THE "THE GUILTY WALK FREE" LP (PUNK)
Hardcore from 1982-1982 Santa Monica Venice area, with 10 songs from there 1982 demo and one other song from 1983. Great hardcore influenced by Black Flag, Wasted Youth and the Stains.

KICKED IN "EUREKA SAVAGE" TAPE
Second demo effort from these Australian hooligans. Influenced by NY and Boston hardcore of long ago, these nuts crank out four HC stompers on this tape. Sure beats the piss outta their first demo. Reminds me of what older Australian bands like DEATH SENTENCE were going for.

HARDA TIDER "DISCOGRAPHY 2007-11" TAPE
This is tough as nails hardcore with youth-crew breakdowns and mosh parts. The thing that sets this record apart from a lot of the common hardcore is the fact that this music is played by punks and you can hear a distinct swedish kang influence here.  This tape contains 2007 demo tape, Gattan Kaller LP, split 7" with Balnace and their ep 7" Var Sak + 3 cover songs. Special art cover version for the tape.  Hårda Tider started out in Malmö aka Crime City in 2007. A demo tape was released the same year and sold out immediately. They gained a reputation as a ferocious live act and played a lot of the punk and hardcore venues around Sweden. Their 2008 debut 7” was followed up by a Scandinavian tour with Biohazard and even more shows in Scandinavia. A weeklong tour of Sweden together with fellow hardcore thrashers Balance ended up in a split 7” co released by Hårda Tiders own label Hårda Skivor and some of the most exiting labels in Hardcore Sweden. One year later the first full length LP/CD - Gatan Kallar, the first one to go digital was released. This one was also co released by the band and three more labels.

SISTA SEKUNDEN "2006" TAPE
"Thirteen tracks and not one over two minutes - most of them don't even make it past the one-and-a-half-minute mark. Short songs don't have to mean high intensity - but when it comes to Sista Sekunden it surely does. Ripping fast, rocking and catchy riffs are lined up after each other together with bass lines that follow the same recipe and a hectic drumbeat to back it up. Influences are drawn from fast old school hardcore, much of it from the US of A with only one exception - Sista Sekunden sing in Swedish. That, and the fact that the vocalist(s) probably were born to sing in a band like this, gives this tape an extra gold star from the Attack HQ. There are tempo changes, lots of intelligent songwriting that makes it sound exactly the same all the way through while each track still is very different and has its own little extras, and the wise choice of using a lot of backup shouting just makes it even more solid. I love this tape! The keywords here are tempo, energy, and fucking great! I don't know what more to write really. I wish I could have uploaded a video of me thrashing away to this disc as that would have been a great review! Or maybe not. Just get the damn thing will you? " - ATTACK webzine

SISTA SEKUNDEN "DON'T BLAME US" TAPE
"The cover of "I am not a punk", translated into Swedish ("Jag är inte punk"), by Descendents sums it up pretty damn good. Besides the obvious; the fact that this four piece punk-rock combo from Malmö, Sweden has developed a complete and utter infatuation for American hardcore, it's clear that we're dealing with high quality punk-rock that stands out. And in times like these, the eccentric take of singing in Swedish is also a thing I applaud. 'Cause to be honest; you can easily sort out the quality from the quantity when it comes to punk sung in this native language nowadays. There's not on an ounce of originality to Sista Sekunden's music, I know, but they have the honorable courage to think outside the box sometimes. Furious hardcore in the vein of Adolescents is mixed with melodic punk rock in "Bombplan" reminiscent to early Bad Religion somewhere around "How could hell be any worse?" and that's a typical characteristic of the band and this album. "Skyll inte på oss" ("Don't blame us") is a reckless and rash album similar to a rollercoaster. In a good way, that is. If you're only going to buy one punk album this year, buy this one." - It's A Trap! webzine

TENEMENT "THE BLIND WINK" CD (HANG UP)
CD version! Yes, this release is out on all three formats! Demos collection of lo-fi pop/post-punk rock from Wisconsin's own, Tenement. This shit is pretty god damn great... you got your typical high-energy, popped-out Tenement rippers on this, but laced with some quiet, some noisey, indie/pop demo jams in between.
