WEBSTORE UPDATE: New Releases from GAG, THE COMBAT ZONE, FLESH WORLD, and More!

Here's a short but sweet webstore update for you for the week - so far this summer has been jam packed with great new releases (and reissues) so I'm trying my best to get my hands on as many as I can!  Stocked up on the debut LP from Boston's COMBAT ZONE which has been getting a lot of spins here at GMHQ this week; grabbed a bunch of new releases from Iron Lung Records including the new 7" from San Fran's FLESH WORLD (currently spinning as I type this, highly recommended!), plus new 7"s from GAG and NUDES, and LPs from GAS CHAMBER and WHITE WARDS; grabbed a few more awesome reissues like the THIRTEEN single on Sing Sing and the SADO-NATION "We're Not Equal" LP on Radiation; also picked up some other cool releases (some new, some kinda-new) from the likes of FLESH WORLD (Australia), LAKES, DECRANEO, ASPIRINA INFANTIL, PERFECT PUSSY, COATHANGERS, BUSTED OUTLOOK, BITCHMOUTH, and more!

I also restocked on some titles I've been out of for a little while - both newer releases and some old favorites from BELGRADO, DIE, GREEN BERET, INSTITUTE, SHIPWRECKED, CLOAK/DAGGER, LOST KIDS, BLITZ, SHIVVERS, SHITLICKERS, POISON IDEA, IMPACT, PROTEX, NO COMMENT, TRAGEDY, and more!

Still have some great stuff from the last update as well, including the new MAGIC CIRCLE 7", BLOTTER 7", VIOLENT REACTION 7", PRIESTS 12", ARCTIC FLOWERS LP, FRAU LP, RAZORHEADS Tape, NIGHT BIRDS 7", and more - sadly sold out of the SAVAGEHEADS and LUMPY AND THE DUMPERS singles, but if represses pop up I'm going to try my best to grab more!

Finally, if you haven't heard, all of the NIGHT BIRDS releases on Grave Mistake (Fresh Kills, The Other Side of Darkness, and Born to Die in Suburbia) are currently on sale in the webstore - LPs are $9.00 each, CD's are $4.00, and some package deals which will get you multiple releases for even cheaper! You can see all of the NB stuff currently on sale in the webstore HERE, this will be at this price through July 15th so take adavantage of it if you haven't picked any of em up yet!  NIGHT BIRDS will be heading to Europe at the end of the month as well,  check em out if they are playing near you.

That's all for now, thanks for reading!

NEW WEBSTORE TITLES FOR 7/11/14:

COMBAT ZONE, THE "S/T" LP
After a killer 2013 demo The Combat Zone return with a 12 inch full of total degenerate punk.  Think Boston Not LA meets Back on the Map. This is mean, lumbering, anti social hardcore that is not your friend. Members of Male Nurses, Contingent, Green Beret, Chain Rank, and other fine Boston musical acts.  (Side Two Records)

FLESH WORLD "A Line in Wet Grass" 7"
Our friend Jenn Pelly once described FW like this: "Imagine spiky melodies and washes of reverb mixed with the driving intensity of cold, post-punk spirit—skull-piercing guitar feedback, scratchy riffs, anxious drum builds, ominous moods, and bright guitar hooks when you'd least expect them." and we would be hard pressed to put it better than that.  First pressing is 500 copies on black vinyl and 100 on pink packed in a heavy felt-weave jacket with a handy little insert. Sounds by Brad Dermanouelian. Art by Martín Sorrondeguy.  (Iron Lung Records)

GAG "Locker Room" 7"
Your favorite mid-tempo manglers are back with "Locker Room", the tour single and premier track from the upcoming GAG lp later this year on IRON LUNG RECORDS.  Only 500 copies will be made, housed in a high quality felt-weave sleeve. Sounds by Dave Harvey. Art by Scott Young. (Iron Lung Records)

NUDES "Stain" 7"
Get grimy and low to sensationally uncomfortable hardcore punk music. NUDES lives beneath the street. NUDES is that dirt you swept under the rug. Well guess what, that shit doesn't go away. It disperses and envelops. Sooner or later your life will be nothing but dirt. It's all you'll be able to hear and think on. NUDES loves you. NUDES wants you in their world, under their rug, enthralled and crawling.  "Stain" comes packaged in a big foldout poster sleeve along with a digital download that includes the band-made video for "Bleach Stains". All on black vinyl. Sounds by Dave Harvey. Art by Maryjane Dunphe. (Iron Lung Records)

WHITE WARDS "Cigarette Burns" LP
Continuing in Olympia's tradition of haphazard mangling, WHITE WARDS have finally managed to record a proper LP and it is one mean motherfucker. It's a gritty, nasty Mecht Mensch doing push ups in the Jan's Rooms basement. US hardcore played the way it ought to be. Ugly.  700 copies will grace the planet packaged in high quality materials made in the United States of America. Art and sounds by Jake Dudley. (Iron Lung Records)

GAS CHAMBER "Hemorrhaging Light" LP
Buffalo hardcore has always made a significant yet largely misunderstood contribution to the furthering of musical mastery. And "Hemorrhaging Light" is no exception. With the same 7 notes that everyone else uses, GAS CHAMBER have managed to completely turn mere punk music into a tense, trans-formative journey. Very rarely in punk do we get to have a complete life shift in the space of one album. This is incredible music.  500 copies on black vinyl housed in a heavy duty reverse board jacket with a bonus flexi disc. Sounds by John Angelo. Art by Craig Sheperd. (Iron Lung Records)

DIAT "Everyday" 7"
Our friends from Berlin return with a bursting melancholic post punk single to hold us over until the Energy LP is completed. This is lucky for all of us since the band members almost moved to different continents a few months ago. The drive to stay together is too immense and has crept in to the recording to made a water-tight double sided chest punch of an e.p. Thanks DIÄT, we knew we could count on you. (Iron Lung Records)

THIRTEEN "Girls Aren't the Same" 7"
A Power Pop three-piece formed in 1977 by Mark Ferrick (v/b, who composed the A-side of Dean Wyman’s lone 1978 single), Jim Ferrick (d) and Ian McKean (gtr), Thirteen never managed to gain press coverage and their lone 7” was released in France, Germany and Holland, but not in the UK. Recorded in January 1979 with Phil Cordell co-producing, drums on the 7” were played by Mark Ferrick on one track and a session player on another following the death of his brother Jim shortly before the session. Ian McKean resurfaced a few years later with Twenty Flight Rockers and with Balaam & The Angel, a New Wave combo born from the ashes of U.X.B. Note: a different Oxford-based five-piece group also called Thirteen issued a 7” on the Square label in 1980. (Sing Sing Records)

FLESH WORLD "Planned Obsolescence" 7"
Devastating noisy hardcore from Australia mixing classic USHC power with the intensity and aggression of Italian greats such as WRETCHED and INDIGESTI. This is the vinyl pressing of their cassette only EP from 2011, criminally overlooked and almost lost to time, a cult record in the making. Claustrophobic and chaotic, one of the most over looked Australian hardcore punk records of the last 5 years. Members of TEARGAS, PATHETIC HUMAN, THE ZINGERS, LAKES, RATSAK, and more. Record comes shrinkwrapped, on blood red vinyl, housed in a red and black jacket.  (No Patience Records)

LAKES "Carved Remains" 7"
The follow up single to last years incredible 'Blood of the Grove' LP from Australian punk-punk group LAKES. One of the most exciting bands to emerge from the current Australian underground, LAKES features members of TEARGAS, TAX, ZOND, EASTLINK, and more. Taking influence from cult acts such as DEATH IN JUNE and CURRENT 93 and mixing the power and conviction of Crass Records era anarcho punk ala THE MOB - LAKES are the most realized offering from Australia to fit alongside the current international revival of the post-punk / gothic rock genres. Record comes shrinkwrapped and housed in a stark black and white cover with lush printed inner sleeve.  (No Patience Records)

DECRANEO "Heil Vaticano!" 7"
This Power-punk trio are called "Decraneo," and are now reality. Here you’ve got their first explosive device, their components have spent years in the Mallorquin punk scene playing in bands, such as: Phogo/Mallorkaos/Sindrome de Estokolmo/etc… If you like fast 80s Hardcore punk, with good guitars and incisive lyrics, don’t miss this 7" EP for anything in the world. Seven 80’s Hardcore Punk bombs that sounds like "Sin 34" but with that "Mallorca Punk" sounds that we like so much. The aggressive voice of Maria together with the burning riffs of Santi and Chano on the drums will make you all crazy and you wont stop jumping until you break your head!!!  (Metadona Records)

ASPIRINA INFANTIL "A.I." 7"
Metadona Records present the first EP of a new Mallorkin band, ASPIRINA INFANTIL "A.I" plays a rocking hardcore punk that is totally Old School, but with current sound, perfectly executed with excellent lyrics, killer guitars and a demolishing base rhythm. A.I. Include ex-members of bands such as VERVAL DIARREA, DR.DOOM, PHOGO, DISEASE… The singer, Rafa Murillo is a Mallorkin punk rock legend and the drummer "Gato" was an original member of the legendary Argentinean band FUN PEOPLE. Very few H.C. bands have such good and personal lyrics as the ones Rafa Murillo write. Without doubt one of the best hardcore punk EP´s that have appeared this year worldwide.  6 songs like 6 shots in the neck. Get this EP now and you’ll see that everything said about this band is true, and you’ll want more and more. Aspirina Infantil, the only aspirin able to revive the dead!!!! (Metadona Records)

KOMPLOTT "Sei Vivo, Sei Morto A Nessuno Importa" LP
First record by this brand new combo hailing from Bologna and Milano.  Members of Giuda, Holy and Horror Vacui are hiding behind this ultra riverberated wall of distortion and noise. Fans of D-beat raw punk and old school Italian hardcore punk will be pleased to have their ears slaughtered by this sonic assault where you can feel the urgency of early Negazione, the rage of Eu's Arse and the violence of Kaaos and Shitlickers. Released in 300 copies by the band's own trademark (Complotto Autoproduzioni) and distributed by Komplott and Agipunk.   (Complotto Autoproduzioni Records)

SADO-NATION "We're Not Equal" LP
Formed in 1978 by David Corboy, senior citizen in Northwest punk rock, (who had been playing in bands since 1963!), Portland's KBD punk legends SADO-NATION released their groundbreaking debut EP in 1980, and switched right after to a faster and tighter hardcore punk mostly thanks to the addition of the singer Mish Bondage to the band. Voted best female voclaist by Flipside in 1984, Mish's frightening stage presence and meaningful lyrics, gave Corboy's compositions a new twist, which resulted in one of the most hidden treasures of American 80's Hardcore Punk history. SADO-NATION first lp, originally released on the Brainstem label in 1982, is now legitimately reissued on vinyl for the first time in 30 years, thanks to Radiation Records and the original band members. After years of struggle and despair, hundreds of punk record collections can now be easily completed.  (Radiation Records)

SAVAGE AMUSED "1985 Demo" LP
The Savage Amused are a hard band to nail down. In their brief 8 month existence in 1985 they crafted a sound that is unlike anything else that I have ever heard. The 22 song demo reissued on this LP would seem to meld equal parts of the expected 80s Midwestern American Hardcore but sets it against the non-stop guitar frenzy of contemporary Japanese bands, or are they Robert Fripp solos played at breakneck speed? It’s hard to tell and is far stranger than that. With vocals in the vein of Naked Raygun’s earlier records and the non-stop solos of Randy Uchida this is a sound that stands apart from other recordings of the era. You really need to hear it to start to understand it. Comprised of two brothers John and Joe Bendik who would switch between guitar and drums, front man Bill Morris, who cut an intimidating figure on stage and bassist Alan Peters who went on to be in Agnostic Front and helped found Absolution this is a band that came and went fast, but left an amazing recording behind. Limited to 1,000 copies this remastered LP includes a fanzine style insert with lots of photos and flyers and folds out into a 35X22 inch poster. Includes a download card which gives a full version of the album as well as their complete set from their show opening for Agnostic Front in 1985. (Mind Cure Records)

COATHANGERS, THE "Suck My Shirt" LP
Suck My Shirt is the fourth full-length for The Coathangers. "It's a balance between overthinking and just going for it," guitarist Crook Kid (Julia Kugel) says of their songwriting strategy. It's a duality immediately apparent with the album opener "Follow Me." It’s a classic Coathangers tune with Stephanie Luke's raspy vocals belted out over their signature ragged garage-rock. But the chorus opens into one of the most accessible hooks in the band's canon, just before segueing into the next verse with a squall of violent dissonant guitar. From there the band launches into "Shut Up," a title that harkens back to the brash sass of their first record. The song still has its spikey guitar riffs and shouted chorus, but here The Coathangers sound less like a jubilant version of Huggy Bear and more like the art-pop of late-era Minutemen. Dedicated Coathangers fans will recognize the re-worked versions of "Merry Go Round," "Smother," "Adderall," and "Derek's Song" from their run of limited edition split 7"s, and hearing them in the context of the album shows that these tracks weren't merely isolated examples of the band's more sophisticated side, but were actually demonstrative of the group's increasing capacity for nestling solid melodic hooks and rock heft into their repertoire. By the time the band wraps up the album with the humble pop perfection of "Drive," it's hard to believe this was the band that garnered their reputation off of raucous bombasts like "Don't Touch My Shit." (Suicide Squeeze Records)

COATHANGERS, THE "Larceny & Old Lace" LP
The Coathangers reckless energy from their half-serious roots is every bit as vibrant and rambunctious on their latest album, Larceny & Old Lace. But this time around we’re hearing a band that’s honed their trade and incorporated more stylistic variations. With this broadened artistic horizon, refinement of technique, and Ed Rawls’ production allowing every instrument to shine without detracting from the band’s natural grit, The Coathangers’ latest offering is easily their best record to date. Join the party. (Suicide Squeeze Records)

PERFECT PUSSY "Say Yes to Love" LP
Perfect Pussy are one of the boldest and most intriguing projects to surface in recent years, garnering widespread critical acclaim following the release of a four song EP, titled I have lost all desire for feeling. Veiled beneath layers of exquisitely abrasive noise, frontwoman Meredith Graves' lyrics are disarming, brutally honest and poetic, possessing a feverish intensity that can only be matched by Graves' electric stage presence. Hailing from Syracuse, New York, the band is comprised of members from the local punk and hardcore community. (Captured Tracks Records)

BASTARDS "Maailma Palaa Ja Kuolee" 7"
Classic Finnish punk. Bastards ten track EP "Maailma Palaa Ja Kuolee" originally released on Propaganda Records now re-issued by german label Höehnie Records. (Hohnie Records)

PARTISANS, THE "S/T" LP
Seminal record for any punk in UK, China or whatever you live, fucker!!!! The Partisans were formed in Wales south in 1978 with the original line-up of Phil Staton-voice, Rob "Spike" Harrington-guitar and backing vocals, Andy Lealand-second guitar, Mark "Shark" Harris-drums and Mark "Savage" Parsons-bass.  This line-up will change after one year as Parsons and Staton left the band and Rob took the voice position and entering Louise Wright as bass player. Basically influenced by Sex Pistols, The Clash and Ramones, The Partisans started to cover those bands and playing some own sounds too.  On September 1981 they released their first 7" under the label No Future Records, a fantastic single that helped the band to tour with the likes of Blitz, The Ejected and Peter and the Test Tube Babies. On May 1982 they released their second 7" and when 1983 arrived the band's debut LP was out.  This debut LP is one of the seminal steps on British punk for sure, a record that still sound fresh and strong after 30 years.  (Beat Generation Records)

RIPCORD "Discography Vol. 1" LP
This material has been out of print on vinyl for nearly 15 years. This is the shit, though it is nothing more than just a raw thrash attack. It contains all the tracks from their selfproduced flexi and their first album on Manic Ears RIPCORD definded the english hardcore between 1984 and 1988. Along with HERESY, the STUPIDS, DOOM and EXTREME NOISE TERROR, they were one of the best bands that England had to offer at that time when Cal had gotten his balls sewed on again and the technicolor punks from Kings Road became extinct. RIPCORD, though from Weston-Super-Mare would have loved being a D.C. (TEEN IDOLS / G.I.) or Boston band (S.S.D. / D.Y.S.), but they were one of these bands that could easily outrival their paragons. Their greatest recording event was the John Peel Session (featured on the "More Songs" CD resp. later on the Discography Pt. 3 LP). The entire RIPCORD catalog will be re-released on 3 vinyl LPs in cooperation with Epistrophy in 2002. Steve Hazzard and John later joined SPITE, John and Jim formed DUMBSTRUCK. (Skuld Records)

HHH "Intelectual Punks" 7"
Mid 1980s Spanish hardcore, has a great 80's raw punk vibe like MG15 or old Brazillian HC and some faster songs that are more in line with Pandemonium or Larm. (Discos Enfermos Records)

BEASTMAN "S/T" Tape
Up from the murky depths of the Genesee to take the villagers by storm, the natives have grown restless and resentful. Seminal cassette offering from Rochester, NY aborigines, BEASTMAN cracks skulls in 2014 A.D. Offering up a uniquely New York-stylee of percussive hardcore punk, this cassette thunders forth for twenty minutes amidst spastic blues-oriented guitar work and prehistoric cries of disparagement. Voicing their primitive wisdom on all things unique to the modern savage, from jaw-dropping progress to penny-ante junkies, BEASTMAN draws from 30+ years of straight-from-the-gut hardcore to upturn some fascinating new stones. Like a weirdly punk take on something outlandish like GWAR, these mutants can lay heavy on the floor-tom at ninety miles an hour well enough to shave any lower east side noggin; they can also plow through exceptionally penned ballads, smothering legions of POISON IDEA-worshiping visionaries with an indoctrinated balance of power and finesse. Somewhere in the prehistoric gray lies BEASTMAN: tuning in on some archaic wavelength, powerful enough to broadcast throughout the stateside and beyond. Colorfully illustrated portrait of Rochester’s offering to at-your-throat hardcore punk in the modern age, now available from Jelly Music. (Reel Time Records)

BUSTED OUTLOOK "Plague Hoarder" Tape
World, meet BUSTED OUTLOOK. Four tracks of fast, constructively angry, '88-styled US hardcore that leaves plenty of room for moshing and two-stepping. This demo was done as a studio project of Rich from Permanent Ruin and Jeremy from Scalped handling all the duties themselves (with a crucial help from Fred), but B.O. has recently settled in to a full 5-piece lineup and ready to play shows. BUST! (Warthog Speak Records)

BITCHMOUTH Demo Tape
Bitchmouth is a four piece hardcore punk band from Richmond, Virginia, America. Cassette Demo is their debut EP. Bitchmouth plays a rocking chaotic hardcore that manages to find a groove and ride it out before self destructing into noise. Kelsey Hulvey has a piercing shreak on Red Fingers, Bed Of Filth rocks the stop and start rhythm while Black Candles is nothing less than a kinetic freakout. If you like your hardcore a little shaggy but never less than going full speed ahead, Bitchmouth’s Cassette Demo will serve well. http://bitchmouth.bandcamp.com/ (Demo)
