WEBSTORE UPDATE! BREAKDOWN, GLUE, WHITE LUNG, PERMANENT RUIN, and More! Inbox x

Happy New Year to you all! Here is the first official Grave Mistake webstore update of the new year! Let’s start this off right - I have a few New Years resolutions this year I’d like to share with you all… first off I’m going to stop being a slacker with the updates. I get new stuff for the distro in almost every day, yet for some reason let it pile up for a week or two (or three) until it’s time to do the email update. So THIS YEAR will be the year that I put new stuff in the DAY I get it … starting with the next update (because I put most of this stuff up yesterday … hehe).  But as I add new titles to the store, I’ll be making posts about them on the Grave Mistake FACEBOOK page and TUMBLR page, so check the links to those below and be my friend / follow up / stalk me / whatever you do with your social media time. I’m just happy to have the attention.

Second resolution: stop being a slacker with the release dates. I have FOUR releases that I’ve been talking about releasing for SEVERAL YEARS (two of which I ALREADY HAVE VINYL FOR!) and you will hopefully see all four within the next few months. I also have a few more reissues / collections in the works which are in full swing; assembling old mixes, masters, and layout content, so stay tuned. And of course, we have a few new releases in the pipes from some of my current favorite bands. You will be getting a 2014 preview email in your inboxes next week I promise, as well as a nice little 2013 recap. I have been working on my “Favorites of 2013” list and one of these days you are going to read it.

Third resolution: NEW WEBSTORE! I have been talking about this for half a year (see a trend here?) … I have slowly been gathering all of the info, doing inventory, etc etc to make the jump … my deadline is Feb 1 so HOLD ME TO THAT!!! Setup begins next week … you all deserve better than what I’m working with now.  New webstore will be faster and much more organized for all of your browsing needs.

Fourth resolution: thinking about making my webstore emails a little bit nicer. BUT give me some feedback here … do you prefer these all text email updates that I’ve been doing for the past 7 or so years? Or do you long for something more (maybe more graphics, some more structure)? Let me know … feedback is encouraged. Also, shorter updates. Starting with the next one (I have a lot to say this week … and most weeks). OK, I think I’m done … PHEW.

Some GRAVE MISTAKE News for 2014!

So with that out of the way, let me give you a blip of GM news to kick off 2014, and then I’ll get to the new webstore goods. First off, at the tail end of 2013 we finally saw the release of the COKE BUST “Confined Anthology” CD, which is a 28 song collection compiling the tracks from their latest “Confined” 12” as well as their singles from the past several years. There was no point in making a 9 minute CD, this isn’t 1996 (hell some people didn’t even see the point of us doing a 9 minute 12” … ), so we jammed this bad boy with as much stuff as we could. We’ve got it up in the store for $6 so check it out!

Up next is the BRAIN F≠ “Empty Set” LP … the long overdue follow up to 2011’s “Sleep Rough” LP, this has been in the works for a little while now but the vinyl is ready to ship and the covers and inserts are being printed as I type this, so we are looking to have an official release date for early February. Stay tuned this month because we have plans to put up a track from the LP within the next few weeks, as well as a full stream and we might even do a little “preorder” deal if the records get delivered early.  I’m really excited to be doing another release for BRAIN F≠, they are one of my favorites in recent years. Anyone who wants to inquire about wholesale, promos, anything at all please contact myself or Daniel at Sorry State Records and we’ll get you the info you need!

Enough GM news for now, stay tuned for the next email update, in which I will hope to have ALL of your questions about the 86 MENTALITY 12” answered. They call this a “cliff hanger." Now, on to the webstore update …

http://www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog/products_new.php

Another resolution is to tighten up these webstore “summaries” so I’m starting fresh with this one. First off, I had a ton of killer stuff go in the store in late Nov / early Dec, but I’m sure with the excitement of the holidays, some of these might have been overlooked. So be sure to pick up records from MERCY KILLINGS, GREEN BERET, SUPERCRUSH, KOWARD, DIE, 7 SECONDS EP reissues, THE HIGH AND MIGHTY reissue, LOVE TRIANGLE, SACRILEGE reissue, OUT COLD, AUTISTIC YOUTH, and a TON more.

New stuff this week … GLUE demo 7”, new WHITE LUNG 7”, GENERACION SUICIDA / CATHOLIC SPIT 7” (both bands put out some of my favorite LPs in 2013), PERMANENT RUIN 7”, VACCINE / NO FAITH 7”, CAUGHT IN A CROWD 7”, PESADILLA DISTOPIKA 7”, MAGIC CIRCLE LP (late pass, I know), SWEARIN LP, ABUSE LP, LAST WORDS LP, sick reissues from DEEP WOUND, BREAKDOWN, MOD SUBS, SAMIAM, a ton of LAST LAUGH KBD Reissues from the likes of THE INSULTS, FIRE EXIT, NUBS, VILLAGE PISTOLS, KIDDA BAND, and more … RESTOCKED on the ANTI-CIMEX 7”s!!! Yup, “Victims of a Bombraid” and “Anarkist Attack” available again; some not-so-legit-but-still-cool reissues from LEATHERFACE, HUSKER DU, NECROS, ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT … the FAILED MUTATION demo, and some restocks on the LUMPY AND THE DUMPERS 7”, GAG 7”, RADIOACTIVITY LP, YOUTH AVOIDERS LP, and more!!!

See, short and sweet!

Thanks for reading, and once again HAPPY NEW YEAR!

NEW IN THE WEBSTORE FOR 01.10.14:

COKE BUST "CONFINED ANTHOLOGY" CD (GRAVE MISTAKE)
The "Confined Anthology" is a 28 song CD collecting not only the tracks from 2013's "Confined" 12", but the past two years of COKE BUST's output as well. In addition to "Confined," this release also contains COKE BUST tracks from their following releases: the split 7" with VACCINE, "Live on WMUC" 7", and 2011's "Degradation" 7" EP.  A much needed document for one of Washington DC hardcore's best and most active bands in recent years. "Confined," the band's latest release on Grave Mistake is their most intense work to date; which says a lot considering the sheer ferocity of the band's previous output.  This is no surprise however, considering Coke Bust have spent the past seven years of their existence refusing to rest on their laurels; constantly refining their style and successfully outdoing themselves with each release.  For the unacquainted, Coke Bust deliver their own brand of no frills fast hardcore, taking cues from bands like SIEGE, INFEST, and YOUTH OF TODAY.

GLUE "DEMO" 7" (LAGERVILLE)
Vinyl issue for one of those most talked-about hardcore demos of 2013. After one of the most epic hardcore intros I've heard in some time (and one worth of the band name's SSD reference), this launches into some absolutely scorching hardcore punk. I could describe the sound of this, which is pretty much pure 80s hardcore with snotty vox a la Gordon Solie Motherfuckers, but really what makes this demo stand out is the songwriting. The band have a way of varying the tempos and the riffing in a way that really keeps you on your toes and just constantly wanting more.

WHITE LUNG "BLOW IT SOUTH" 7" (DERANGED)
Two new songs from Vancouver's WHITE LUNG continue where SORRY left off.  Honing on their unrelenting post punk formula, WL returns with a clear confidence that they can write great songs and plan on delivering on the goods.  Featured as best new song on both Pitchfork and Stereogum, these songs are some of their best.  The band has been busy in 2013 but expect them to be everywhere starting early next year.

GENERACION SUICIDA / CATHOLIC SPIT - SPLIT 7" (DISCOS MMM)
GS takes the sounds of Swedish/Danish melodic punk (think Masshysteri, Gorilla Angreb and Vicious) and mixes it with pogo-in-the-air KBD energy. This follows their highly sought after demo (and various vinyl reissues thereof), s/t 7" and new LP, "Con La Muerte A Tu Lado." Dual male/female vocals. Highly infectious. Two songs from these LA raw punx, out just in time for their first European tour.  The CS song, "Save Me," is one of their best to date, reminiscent of 45 Grave and other dark punk/post-punk. After a 7", "I'm Your God Now," and LP, "A Pact With The Devil," Catholic Spit have really hit their stride with this split. The rhythm section is top-notch, backing haunting vocals and drowning guitars and melodies.

PERMANENT RUIN "MAS ALLA DE LA MUERTE" 7" (WARTHOG SPEAK)
"Más allá de la Muerte" packs more intensity, rage, presence, and oppressive pressure changes than most hardcore band's entire careers. From the opening rumble, PERM RÜ locks into a steamrolling pummel of blazing riffs, occasional blast beats, mosh breakdowns, and blood-boiling vocals that combine for a merciless hardcore thrill-kill to your emotions and never lets up til all puny wimps are left cowering in the wake. For those keeping score, this Bay Area wrecking machine sports members of IN DISGUST and CONDENADA. They've also managed to pull Tobia of LOOK BACK AND LAUGH out of retirement for guest vocals on a track.

VACCINE / NO FAITH - SPLIT 7" (VINYL RITES)
Vaccine's final release is 5 songs of honed and hardened hardcore with slightly more noise then before. As if their other 7"s weren't angry enough, this pushes it over the top. With the end of Vaccine comes a more active No Faith, who's LP last year (Painkiller Records) was mighty impressive. This is more of the same-a one song heavy noise dirge. Recorded by Will Killingsworth, mastered by West West Side, art by Dan Rossiter.

CAUGHT IN A CROWD "THE FIGHT" 7" (REACT)
The new wind has arrived with CAUGHT IN A CROWD, a young straight edge hardcore band from Cape Cod and one of the latest bands to join the growing REACT! Records roster. Pulling strong influence from the heavier side of youth crew and early New Age Records catalog, turn of the millennium bands like Carry On and Count Me Out, and proudly representing the edge and intensity of Massachusetts Hardcore past and present, CAUGHT IN A CROWD is a force of nature that demands attention and respect. With the world still recovering from their first major tour and one of the most talked about sets at This Is Hardcore 2013, CAUGHT IN A CROWD and REACT! Records are proud to present "The Fight." If you didn’t know, now you do.

PESADILLA DISTOPIKA "NO HAY NINGUNA MANERA DE ESKAPAR" 7" (VERDUGO DISCOS)
Pesadilla Distopika, one of L.A.'s best new bands, debut 7" "No Hay Ninguna Manera De Eskapar" presents six tracks of Hardcore Punk in the vein of GLAM, Destino Final, and Wretched with a tint of some Italian/Japanese influenced-HC. Distorted guitars, fast songs with catchy break downs, and catchy mid-tempo songs. This band released an excellent demo earlier in the year but really hit their stride in this release. 2013 has been a great year for punk in Southern California and Pesadilla Distopika have been one of the reasons why.

BREAKDOWN "RUNNIN' SCARED" LP (540)
540 Records and Painkiller present one of the most important and, yep, best, New York Hardcore recordings on vinyl for the first time EVER, with “Running Scared,” the second demo in Breakdown’s Both Demos set. This is music to wear a Mr. Peanut t-shirt to, to lace up your Spot-Bilt sneakers and stagedive into a pike of Daisy Dukes and Village Voice back-issues. On this 540 and Painkiller split release you will find: The Running Scared demo, from 1988, recorded in The Loft studios in Bronxville, near the parkway, and previously unreleased versions of All I Ask and Hold Me Back--the latter basically a new Breakdown song that you can't get anywhere else except for this thing--and their WNYU session from 1989. The demo is as good as any hardcore record ever, and the band is as good as any band. It’s on vinyl now, finally, so buy this thing, put on a ringer tee, spill spaghetti sauce on it and start spreading the credit around.

MOD SUBS "PRIMITIVE BY TODAY'S STANDARDS" LP (BEACH IMPEDIMENT)
Impressive reissue of this never before heard gem, sourced direct from long lost master reels unearthed from the Richmond, VA hardcore archives! MOD SUBS were a band from 1981, the first in a lineage of RVA bands that would eventually evolve into WHITE CROSS. What you get is an excellent snapshot of the beginning of early 80's hardcore forming in a relatively small southern / mid-atlantic city.  MOD SUBS deliver an extremely raw and elementary, but nonetheless interesting and inspiring output.  It is limited to a mere 300 copies on an incredible full print two-color silkscreened jacket and I would say highly recommended for any hc/punk scholar intrigued by the origins and evolution of US Hardcore.  You can read the full MOD SUBS story at http://beachimpedimentrecords.blogspot.com.

LEATHERFACE "MINX" LP (FANCLUB)
European reissue of their great 4th album. Reproduces the layout from the Japanese CD version and also adds two tracks from the super-limited bonus 7" that came with a few copies of the first pressing. Essential for any LEATHERFACE fan.

HUSKER DU "THE TRUTH HEARTS: EARLY DEMOS AND RECORDINGS 1979-1980" LP (FANCLUB)
Collection of Husker Du Demos and Unreleased Material 79-80. Some of this stuff is on "everything falls apart and more" in better quality but some of the other stuff on here is SUPER cool, particularly if you like Land Speed Record.

NECROS "CONQUEST FOR DEATH COLLECTION" LP (FANCLUB)
Recent NECROS collection featuring their CONQUEST FOR DEATH LP and more! One of the nicer looking fanclub issues I've seen of the NECROS 12" and also features tracks from the "Early Days Bootleg" EP, "Sex Drive" EP, "IQ 32" EP and the "Process Of Elimination" compilation EP. 36 tracks total.  Nice print quality, jacket stock, and comes with a double sided insert! Hailing from Maumee, Ohio, the Necros were one of the first hardcore bands in the U.S.! Consisting of highschoolers Barry Henssler, Andy Wendler, and Todd Swalla, the Necros formed way back in 1979. Meatmen vocalist and scenester Tesco Vee soon took the band under his wing, and within a year they were at the forefront of a scene centered around Detroit, Michigan. Absolutely essential Necros reissue here.  "Good powerful hardcore with that old T&G sound. You can already hear the first traces of hard rock on this LP; some of the songs are a bit slower, and the music tends to be less brutal than that of their labelmates Negative Approach or Fix. But this is still a classic, no doubt about it." - FLEX

LAST WORDS "S/T" LP (TO LIVE A LIE)
LAST WORDS is a band you’ve either never heard of, or you have heard hype about them floating around online. I am lucky to live in the town they hail from and I have seen them a number of times and I believe all the hype! LAST WORDS isn’t much of a departure from Jeff’s last band, STRIPMINES, who also had lightening quick riffs, strong blasts, and almost an evil hardcore nature on top of very catchy fast punk songs. Where the two bands diverge is the vocals. Marina contributes her shrill and abrasive vocals and introspective but pissed lyrics. If you want a band that makes you feel uncomfortable yet their songs get stuck in your head seconds after the B-side ends – look no further!

ABUSE "S/T" LP (TO LIVE A LIE)
If there is anything good in the world to be hopeful about, ABUSE. quickly bring you back to reality with seventeen of the angriest and most depressing powerviolence tracks that you will be able to stand. The band melds classic NO COMMENT/INFEST/NEANDERTHAL sound with some hardcore undertones and have really stepped up the production value since their initial releases. Still raw as hell sounding, this LP was recorded with Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business who brought out the band's sheer heaviness out on each track. If you are looking to be uplifted, don't look to this record. If you have had the worst day ever and you want to listen to the aural equivalent of Nietzsche, then you will have a winner with this record. Hope is the most evil of evils, and ABUSE. says you're fucked.

MAGIC CIRCLE "S/T" LP (ARMAGEDDON)
Armageddon Shop is proud to announce that the MAGIC CIRCLE "Self Titled" album is now available via the Armageddon Shop in house imprint. Available on CD or LP w/download. CD is a pro pressed standard jewel case version. Vinyl is housed in a full color Stoughton tip-on sleeve with printed inner sleeve and comes with a digital download coupon. Recorded in 2011 at the infamous Paincave in Massachusetts and mastered by Carl Saff who did the recent ELDER 12" we released in 2012. Drawing from classic NWOBHM and traditional metal influences, this five piece comprised of veteran local musicians (Mind Eraser, Rival Mob, Doomriders, etc) have turned out a well crafted solid as hell metal album. They've definitely done their listening homework over the years. Strong and catchy songs, heavy but not tuned down, recorded well but not overproduced, it captures the old DIY ethic of metal in the early 80's. The vocals have an almost Ozzy quality at times, solid as hell. We're totally stoked on this record!

SWEARIN "SURFIN STRANGE" LP (SALINAS)
"It feels like hardly a minute has passed since DIY pop-punk quartet Swearin' released their self-titled debut last August, yet here comes "Watered Down," the first single from their sophomore effort Surfing Strange ( out November 5 through Salinas Records and via Wichita in the UK). The band, now relocated from Philadelphia to Brooklyn, has become more of a team effort this time around, with members Allison Crutchfield, Kyle Gilbride and Keith Spencer (who also plays with Allison's twin sister Katie in Waxahatchee) sharing writing credits throughout the album. Featuring Gilbride on lead vocals, "Watered Down" is a characteristically simple three-minute bit that doesn't stray too far from the band's introspectively rebellious past, but it does showcase Swearin's evolution toward a more defined 1990s-alt-rock drawl as it chronicles the end of a relationship, one that's been decaying slowly from avoidance and growth in different directions."

SAMIAM "WHATEVER'S GOT YOU DOWN" LP (NO IDEA)
Originally released by Hopeless Records in 2006, now remixed and remastered with love by Jeff Dean (THE BOMB). Jeff truly ripped the lid off this record and brought a newfound clarity and immediacy! To all those who loved these songs already, allow us to reintroduce you. Includes a bonus song and shiny updated artwork by Sergie Loobkoff!  Remixed by Jeff Dean (THE BOMB) in 2013 at Million Yen Studios in Chicago, IL.  Remastered by Jon Drew at Infinite Wavelength in Toronto, Ontario

DEEP WOUND "S/T" 7"  (ARMAGEDDON)
Armageddon Shop is proud to announce the release of a legitimate reissue of this classic USHC classic available again on vinyl. Deep Wound were one of a handful of great punk bands from the outer regions of Massachusetts who have been largely overlooked by HC history in favor of the "Boston Crew" bands who put out records on XClaim! or Modern Method. The four-piece recorded their one and only single with Lou Giordano and Frank Michaels (Proletariat) and released it on the Radiobeat label in 1982. The record is snotty teenage punk rock but played at lightning speed with totally manic singing. Drummer J Mascis and guitarist Lou Barlow went on to further greatness by forming the seminal indie rock band Dinosaur Jr., and bassist Scott Helland played in the Outpatients until their breakup in 1995. The Deep Wound material is all amazing and essential. It has been released in many forms, including several vinyl bootlegs, and an authorized Discography via Damaged Goods several years ago.

ANTI-CIMEX "VICTIMS OF A BOMB RAID" 7" (NADA NADA DISCOS)
Reissue! Anti-Cimex, named after a Swedish insecticide, are one of the most influential hardcore bands to come out of Sweden in the wake of Discharge. Their noisy, high-speed take on the UKHC sound laid the foundation for the modern "Swedish sound."  "Victims of a bombraid" was recorded in April 1984 and was released the same year by Anti Cinex and Malign Massacre and it was re-released by Core Horror Recordsit in 1987. "Victims..." was the follow up to "Anarkist attack"(1981) and "Raped ass" (1982)

ANTI-CIMEX "ANARKIST ATTACK" 7" (NADA NADA DISCOS)
Reissue! Anti-Cimex, named after a Swedish insecticide, are one of the most influential hardcore bands to come out of Sweden in the wake of Discharge. Their noisy, high-speed take on the UKHC sound laid the foundation for the modern "Swedish sound." "Anarkist Attack" is their debut EP from 1981!

FLAG OF DEMOCRACY "CHINESE FOOD" 7" (WHO CARES)
This is the EP that started it all. FOD in June of 1982 with their first drummer Mike and their only recording with their first bassist Zeke (later of McRad). Originally released as a 7 song dubbed tape. Now re-released with an 8th song from the same session, remastered on a pro-printed, shrink wrapped tape with a download card. LTD TO 300.

INSULTS, THE "POPULATION ZERO" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
Few bands have been named more fittingly than The Insults. All of their songs (and this 7" is the tip of the ol' iceberg, pal) are an affront to "good" taste, "good" manners, "good" musicianship...in other words, the perfect band for you and me. A long-time collector-fave finally reissued in it's proper form here, this two-songer from the prides of Watsonville, CA still sounds as wonderfully ignorant today as it did in 1979 and makes an excellent introduction to the world of Richard Sikk & his cohorts. "Population Zero" is a plea to eliminate the entire human race, a prayer we're much closer to answering in 2013. "Zombie Lover" is....well, just what you think it is. Special guest appearance by Cher. Buy or cry.

VILLAGE PISTOLS "BIG MONEY" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
The Village Pistols was a short-lived punk rock band from North Carolina who never went anywhere and mostly disbanded even before they committed any of their music to tape. Their name seemed to come from a mixture of the Village People and the Sex Pistols. They were very loud, kinda sloppy and they played fast. Had they stuck around for any length of time they may have actually been discovered by neighboring punk scenes and been a bigger part of the early hardcore movement had they continued to put out any records. Sadly, however, that didn’t happen but they did manage to release a 7″ single around the time they called it quits. The story goes that the label had pressed 1000 of them but at least half of the pressing was warped and returned to the plant for a refund so what could have been a rare but not that difficult to track down a copy of single became a lot more scarce and as a result (and thanks to the posthumous popularity of this single two decades later) this record is very hard to find and commands a hefty sum of money to obtain. The 7″ had two songs on it: the title track which was an original composition of fast, loud, and raw punk rock that is well worth the big money the original commands (which I’d love to own but don’t have the big money to obtain it), and a cover of The Beatles’, “Strawberry Fields” that you’d be hard pressed to distinguish as a Beatles song due to how much they punk it up in their loud, fast, and reckless way.

KIDDA BAND "FIGHTING MY WAY BACK" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
Someone maybe should have told Malcolm McLaren when he set out to form the Sex Pistols in 1976 that there already was extant a raunchier, punchier Bay City Rollers and that they weren't from London either, but from Coventry. Melding perfectly everything perfect about the decade - from the glitter rock of Mud and the Rollers to the sing-along-sans-workism choruses of the Clash at their Hoople-est - the Incredible Kidda Band represent the legitimate sound of the British suburban teenage in all its tell-tale trappings.

NUBS "JOB / LITTLE BILLY'S BURNING" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
Official reissue of SF KBD punk classic. Perhaps the punkest song ever penned.

FIRE EXIT "TIME WALL" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
Official reissue from Scotland's longest running punk band. This is their self-released single from 1978. The title track was featured on Killed By Death Volumes 6 and 7 along with a Bloodstains Across the UK.

CARTOONS, THE "SHE'S A ROCK AND ROLLER" 7" (LAST LAUGH)
Impossibly rare 1981 7” out of Yonkers, NY, reissued by Last Laugh. Johnny Thunders/Heartbreakers-style sleazy NY Punk, the original was actually a promo for a local Hair Salon. Great single, even if 1981 (what with Hardcore around the corner) was a bit late to still be singing about Max’s Kansas City and sounding like a rawer New York Dolls!

CAPTIVE BOLT / GARY FRANCIONE - SPLIT 7" (DEAD TANK)
A vengeful follow-up to last years “Rape, Slaughter, Slavery and Vivisection” 7”. Jacksonville’s Captive Bolt continue down a lyrical path of vegan and animal rights issues while blasting a hardcore punk sounds with a fresh and modernized reincarnation of Left for Dead. The power of the message here is only brought to the next level since the band teams up with esteemed author Gary Francione - a professor of law and philosophy at Rutgers University. He is a longtime vegan and writes and teaches about animal rights theory and animal law, as well about the relationship between the rights of humans and nonhumans. Gary contributions to this release are exclusive and recorded specifically to work thematically with Captive Bolt’s tracks.

VOLTAGE "AIN'T NOTHING" 7" (TCM)
A brand new outfit from the western outskirts of germany - wegberg to be precise. the five dudes thrash some harsh 80s hardcore songs, mixed with some catchy hooklines. think of newer Ceremony teaming up with Dead Stop and the r'n'r-vibe of the Bronx or Dean Dirg! Prepare for a total punk-party-goodie!

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT - "DEAD SERIOUS DEMO 1985" LP (FANCLUB)
This is the 1st demo by these bay-area thrashers. Here you get 10 tracks - the perfect blend of thrashy metal and fast hardcore. This demo is so raw and pissed, its a genuine classic. It blows the forthcoming full-length away. After the demo they went on to release that great record on Pusmort called “american paranoia”. Even more metal crept into their sound and they ended up changing some members and shortend the name to just ATTITUDE. With each incarnation of the band, they got further away from the blazing thrash that made them a household name.

QUICKSAND "SLIP" LP (FANCLUB)
"Attempt to pick apart the puzzlingly named genre known as post-hardcore and you’ll likely find yourself with a handful of random strands that only loosely tie together. There’ll obviously be DC titans Fugazi and those they helped to nurture (Jawbox, Shudder to Think et al) along with lesser-knowns like Bastro and scads of other odd, awkward, stylistically-different acts all laying claim to the pigeonhole.  If, however, you’re looking for one definitive act that sums it all up then look no further than this: the 1993 debut full-length from Quicksand.  Quicksand began in 1990, members having already set the standard for perky, positive, late-80s hardcore with acts like Gorilla Biscuits, Bold and Youth of Today. Clearly not considering this achievement enough, they then set about altering the 90s underground with an obtuse shift in sound that must have had youth crew fans everywhere shaking their baseball capped heads and wondering just what the connection was.  Slip is a taut mix of staccato crunches, fluttering harmonics, chiming bass notes and Walter Schreifels’ strained, strung-out vocals. The music was as blunt, efficient and businesslike as their song titles (Unfulfilled, Head to Wall, Dine Alone), and sweats pent-up stress, discontent and frustration with a disconcertingly crisp directness. Tunes shift from hoarse melodies and jittery desperation to coruscating crashes, tracks like album standout Omission demonstrating immaculate poise and a white-knuckled grip on their surging dynamics.  Beyond the 90s and even beyond the early 00s, Quicksand’s influence still refuses to dwindle. Such nods ensure Slip’s continued relevance as both history lesson and 40-minute master class in post-hardcore perfection." *Please note this is a fanclub issue, not the official reissue on SRC.

FAILED MUTATION - DEMO TAPE (NOT NORMAL)
That's right, True Believers, Not Normal is back with a brand new offering of Midwest slime: Milwaukee's Failed Mutation. Some schmucks you know/love got together and oozed out 7 originals plus a Deep Wound cover and were magnanimous enough to let us put it out. Raging hardcore that takes cues from Necros, Zero Boys, and, yeah, a bit of Deep Wound. You're a Failed Mutation, I'm a Failed Mutaion, We're all Failed Mutations, so do the mutant shuffle and get this tape, you fucks!

ABORTION REELS - DEMO TAPE
Abortion Reels is currently one of Southern California's most exciting new bands. Raw snotty hardcore punk from San Bernardino and the High Desert with members of Pesadilla Distopika. 4 tracks of mid-tempo catchy fucked up tunes.

DESPERAT "FIRST TWO AND A HALF" CD (RESCUED FROM LIFE)
Contains ALL tracks from the first 2 7"s and the split with GIFTGASATTACK plus an unreleased rager. Raw Swedish D-beat hardcore executed by some familiar faces who left an undeniable impact on the genre decades ago and continue to churn out punk hits. DKRECS-015

WANKYS, THE "AMERICAN WANK" DISCOGRAPHY CD (RESCUED FROM LIFE)
"Japanese noise punk via the U.K! Can you imagine Disorder and Confuse having a glue-sniffing session and the survivors picking up some instruments and heading off to a studio? Have you ever had a mental picture of early Swankys and early Chaos UK competing against each other over who has the nosiest guitar sound?" Ok...Do I need to tell you anything more..? Contains all trax from the Weapons Of  Musical Destruction 8" Lp , Lost In France ... And Drunk 7", Noise Disorder And Chaos split Lp , The Very Best Of Hero Lp , Noise Punk 7".

HATRED SURGE "HUMAN OVERDOSE PLUS 5" CD (RESCUED FROM LIFE)
HATRED SURGE has been around for a while but only release an album when it is truly ready. During the session, Alex described this recording to us as "a rhino on pcp" and we cannot disagree. This current back to basics 3 piece phase of HS sees a much more apparent death metal influence but still retains the "grinding violence" stylings they are known (and loved) for. Make no mistake, this album will smash you. CD also includes the 3 songs from the “Brutal Supremacy” comp and the “Purgatory” 7” (RFL100)

HELLKRUSHER "DOOMSDAY HOUR/VICTIMS OF HATE" CD (RESCUED FROM LIFE)
Hellkrusher are back.  Their 1996 LP “doomsday hour” is finally issued on cd for the first time in 2013. They have been compared  to Varukers & Discharge and with buzzsaw guitars & pounding drums & aggressive shouted vocals that’s not far off! MAXIMUMROCKNROLL #368 - JAN 2014
We ring in the new year with our third Maximum Rocknroll Queer Issue! First up is ANTI-CORPOS who talk to us about organizing Girls Rock Camp in Brazil! CLOSET BURNER demystifies being queer in the Midwest, DURES ET GAYS share wild tales of squat shows in Europe, and EJACULOID gets fresh with us. Also in this issue, GLORY HOLE shares their experience of being queer in Australia, PEEPLE WATCHIN’ talks about tour and playing Smash It Dead Fest, and Porcelain from FRUIT PUNCH sits down with us to discuss her emergence and coming out in the East Coast punk scene. 1. Awesome stuff you have. Hope you get all of those covered and fully kept tab upon. Wouldn't want to lose any of these to some oversight. Inventory shouldn't have to be a chore, or at least, not something you'll have to get wrapped up with and kept from accumulating all these choice cuts. You can get some software or other to have those done for 'ya. That is a possibility.
